  1. Hey y'all,

Has anyone had any success in getting an Infopass appointment during the pandemic?

Personally, my ROC 18-month extension letter is about to expire, and thus so is my drivers' license, which will be very problematic come October. I was trying to book an appointment so I can get the I-551 stamp to renew my license ahead of time, however USCIS doesn't seem to count that as an emergency, which I think is ridiculous– I'm trying to avoid it ever becoming a dire emergency (it's already an emergency to get my license renewed very soon as it is), but they seem to be forcing me to wait until it is and I can no longer drive anywhere on my own (including to work!!!).

You know what would be great? If they just sent out refreshed 12-month extension letters to everyone who is pending automatically.

This is very interesting. Any stats on how often these are approved?

Aside from getting the 10-year GC upon entry, which allows you to skip the ROC process entirely, it's an identical process to the CR-1 visa– I believe both CR-1 and IR-1 visas are processed together. Given the length of the marriage, that'd mean you'd have even more information to front-load prior to the interview to prove it's a bonafide marriage, and not just simply a long distant relationship. I know at least one person personally who was processed this way, and they seemed to have been approved without a hitch. As for actual stats, dunno.

Edit: Here are some VJ stats: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php?cfl=

  3. Dunno if it'll help with anything, but I uploaded our 2019 Tax Transcripts and 1040 to myUSCIS account just now since we still have a pending ROC (Didn't have at the time of filing, which we filed based on a 3-year). Still absolutely no movement whatsoever since February.

Additionally, I've been denied an Infopass appointment, which really sucks, because my drivers license is coming up for renewal, and I've got no further evidence of status beyond my 18-month extension letter.

  4. Also, to add: The sooner you get married, the clock starts ticking, even if you haven't done anything immigration-wise yet. If you get married and for some reason don't immigrate within 2 years of the marriage, you're eligible for an IR-1 visa, which is even better than a CR-1– they're exactly the same (filed exactly the same way with the exact same forms), except you'd be granted a 10-year green card right off the bat upon entry, instead of the conditional 2- year.

You dont have I-751 , so what you use for legal status here? I think the conditional greencard only for 2 years.

18 month extension letter + conditional green card, which effectively means my conditional status is now 3.5 years. I’ll be needing a I-551 stamp in my passport soon, as my extension letter expires on October 24th, 2020. The stamp will further extend my conditional status another year to 4.5 years total. I’d be a lot less concerned if I wasn’t conditional right now.

I can extend my conditional status indefinitely, as long as I still have an active I-751 case pending in the system. That’s why I was also able to file for naturalization, since even though I’m conditional, it’s still technically permanent residence, and I have met the 3-yr requirement to file back in Jan 2020.

Is anybody here filing for N-400 while their I-751 is still pending? I filed for I-751 (lifting conditions) in Jan 2019 and for N-400 in Jan 2020. Still no results on any of those. I hear they combine interviews for both, but I wonder when that's gonna happen, as here in Dallas the office is overloaded (and my I-751 is in Potomac for some reason).

Yep, almost exactly the same situation on my side. Filed I-751 in March 2019, and N-400 in Jan 2020. Nothing since biometrics for N-400 in February, not even a peep. I was never scheduled for an interview before the shutdown, and now I'm pushed off to a case completion date of Feb 2021.

  7. So I decided to call USCIS today to book an InfoPass appointment since my (18 month!) extension letter is about to expire in October, and they told me that they're only doing emergency InfoPass appointments (needed to renew my drivers license). Anyways, during this call, I asked for an update on my cases (I-751 and N-400), and the officer informed me that I was apparently slated for an interview a very long time ago, but it was never officially scheduled due to COVID-19, and recommended that I call back every 2 weeks for updates.

I guess my anxiety is starting to kick in, seeing as many other folks who filed the same month as me are already getting their interviews completed, and mine has yet to be officially scheduled, not even the first time.

Yeah it’s exciting! I hope everyone here who is waiting in Atlanta get some news soon! I just want to get this over with become a us citizen and not worry about USCIS again. Lol

Agreed! I've had absolutely ZERO movement since my biometrics in February, never had an interview scheduled yet. Pending N-400 / I-751, probably combo. No updates on my.uscis documents either.

Hello! We haven't heard anything as of yet. We had reached out to Congresswoman McBath regarding our pending I-751 (pending interview since September 2019) and we were told on March 17, 2020 that our N400 case was in queue for interview scheduling and we should expect to hear from USCIS in 90 days. That very next day, USCIS closed lol.

Our case estimation is still showing 5 months:clock:. I'm hoping we'll hear something by the end of the summer. Has anyone else heard anything? I've noticed that people have been receiving notices for oath ceremonies the last couple of weeks, but haven't seen many interviews scheduled.

Is working with the congresswoman helpful at all? My I-751 has been pending since March 2019, and the only thing that happened was the case was touched to relocate to a different office *after* I filed for N-400 in January 2020.

My conditional green card expires June 2021. Hopefully it doesn't effect my case in anyway. Good luck and the best to those who are going to be affected by this. :(

AFAIK, if you file on time and have a paper trail that you've done so (and followed any special USCIS instructions due to COVID-19), you should be fine, just delayed. Only complications you might have is renewing your drivers' license and such, but you're not gonna get kicked out of your job just because your card expired. Document everything, and make sure you have a duplicate packet available as evidence, just in case.

Timeline and completion time is back!

Logged into my uscis, and to my surprise the completion time was back. It hasn't changed from what was before the COVID 19 crisis. Theres also a message saying they intend to reopen offices on May 4th. Thats good news in my book.

Can confirm, mine is back, too! It's now pushed until Nov 2020 though (was previously Oct 2020).

Not the appropriate time to ask in these times but trying to move my state of mind to something else. Did anyone got any new interview scheduled after fingerprints?

Nope, absolutely zero updates since biometrics were completed.

Filed on Jan 26 2020, did walk-in biometrics on Feb 12 2020, and had nothing since. I was never scheduled an interview yet. Also pending I-751, no movement there, either. See my signature for details.
