  1. Hi Everyone.

OMG THIS IS LONGEST WAIT AND IT IS PSSING ME OF SO MUCH..cant take this 60 days thing any more....

My Last check in date was Oct 10 and when do you guys think we will get the interview date, our case is in MTL.

Originally our lawyer told us that it will take about 8 months from the day you apply to my wife being here, this guy was so wrong, I wish he had told the right dates.

    Some one please help.

We all can feel your pain. My scan date is few days before yours so I know as you get closer to the 60th day the more anxious you feel. For it is because fear of getting a checklist and having to wait another 60 days.

  2. Hello again,

My Petitioner submitted the AOS for this year with the previous year's taxes. My case will maybe be completed by December(with an interview in January or February). I am already in possession of the 2013 tax return , but would the petitioner need to file taxes for 2014 for me to submit at the interview or would the 2013 returns be accepted? Correct me if I am wrong but taxes are filed in April each year? Would the embassy accept 2013 papers since the tax filing period is not finished? Can some please clear this up.

  3. Yes! I'm on the same boat :( I got a checklist for my Aos on 9/30 resend them the correct one and got a scan date of 10/3.... so far been waiting 35 days and still got nothing and Nvc is currently working on packages received between Sept 11 and 12.

How do you know which das they are working on?

  4. I received checklist on the 29th Oct and I do response to them back on the 5th Nov and I got email from the NVC that they received my mail on the 6th Nov so do I still need to wait for another 60days?

Unfortunately, the wait is UP to 60 days...so you could possibly wait up to the 6th January to hear from the NVC. That will be tough....the wait may be on the longer due to all the upcoming holidays.

  5. Is this really true that the waiting time from last scan has come down to 30 to 35 days?

We can only hope! I think we should still go with 60 days just to be on the safe side. I'm pretty sure there are some(unlucky )persons who have waited 60 days without word...this thing could swing either way

  6. Yeah, the date is stated in the e mail. Not as "scan date" but as the date the NVC received the documents.

We come to the waiting game! I'm on day 35...I think this may just be the week that send me mad!! Trying to distract mysel. I think the recent cases being closed after 30 days wait after scan date has made me impatient.

    Goodluck!

I sent my documents OCT 14th as one package too, and NVC sent me an email confirmation on OCT 20th. The scan date shows as of OCT 15th according to the email they sent me.

"20OCT14 (date the email I received)

    Dear Sir/Madam,

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 15OCT14.

We are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U.S. Citizenship and

Immigration Services. As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents

    received."

  7. Congrats!

Halfway through my 60 day wait here! It went by quickly, now I hope the other half does the same.

They received my DS 260 documents Sept. 30 and received a letter of 60 days time frame Oct. 1, Yesterday, I called NVC to make sure they received AOS and DS 260 documents, I was told, my case completed Oct. 20, and Oct. 29 they already scheduled the interview on Dec. 4...

No update on the ceac website...

I was really surprised although, it has been delayed.. try to call them to get an update. Be ready to wait more than 30mins hold time to get to talk to them though...

    Good luck...

  8. omg !!! CASE COMPLETE !!!! finally this case was started in July 2012. now I just need the interview date. my days of being a single mom are almost done

    8/25 civil docs received

    9/15 aos checklist

    9/24 aos received

    10/29 "paid" changed to "N/A"

10/31 called this morning and they confirmed case is completed

    Congrats! 9/24! That's about a month!

  9. Just wondering but wouldn't staying and seeking adjustment be considered fraud while on a tourist visa?

    Nice letter to us all.

    • Since its been two months since you have been here in a B2, its ok to get married and file an adjustment of status without going back. However, if you have your affaires to settle in HK, then you will have to wait the year it takes filing a CR-1/I-130.
    • if the above scenario to go back, then dont get married, just engaged here in the US, have your fiance file for a K1 visa for you which at todays rate and approval times is taking 8 months which is less than the CR-1. (believe me I just went through it). (unless you arein the Western Half of the USA).
    • Since its been twenty years you have a lot of documentation!! Documentation is your friend here...frontload, frontload the application!!! Your fiance will apply using the I-129f USCIS form and use the wonderful advice from VJ..I know it helped me which is why I am on here helping others.
    • It will make your interview at the US Embassy (consulate?) in HK very quick. Maybe also no interview here for the AOS??? Who knows.

    Anyone correct anything I advised

    David

  10. Welcome!

You CAN get hitched in the US! You would have to return home though and wait for you other half to submit paper work and be approved which takes a year or so...or your other half can apply for a fiance visa (and you return home) and wait for approval, which can take around half the time as the first option.

There are different costs to each and you have to factor in your personal life etc.

read up on the guides. I know there is a comparison of the two options. I will look for a link.

    I stand to be corrected.

    Hi folks,

I have posted the same question in the "What Visa Should I Get" section, but since we have our own LGBT corner here I might as well give it a try too:

I am the foreign partner (from Hong Kong) of a same sex relationship with an American.

Our story is that we met over 20 years ago, and at the beginning we maintained a long distance relationship but for most of those 20 years we have a very close and ongoing friendship. Our bonding starts to become stronger again since two years ago and after gay marriage becomes legal, we begin to look at marriage as an option.

I am now in the US for a tourist visa, mainly to see if we can properly live together for real. It's been two months now and we have come to the point that we know we want to get hitched.

We have looked through the information here and cannot decide whether we should go for the K1 fiancé visa or the IR-1. Since there's no legal gay marriage in Hong Kong, for the IR-1 to work we are thinking of making a quick trip to Canada since I have been told that it's not wise to get married in the US while I am on a tourist visa.

It may be too general a question but we are looking to find the shortest route to get my status so we can be together in the US for now (our base is Albany, CA).

In terms of proving our relationship, we have emails, documents, etc and also a lot of our mutual friends here are willing to sign affidavits for us. But there won't be any joint properties, etc, yet.

In terms of our background we both have professional qualifications.

In terms of finance I have a comfortable level of saving (though probably not relevant for the application) and though he doesn't make a lot as he works for a non-profit, it's well above the required above poverty level. And we even have a rich friend volunteers to be a co-sponsor if necessary.

Any of your inputs are well appreciated.

  11. This waiting is making me crazy, got another checklist 2 days ago and I feeling I'll have another checklist!!! Omg :(

I iust got a small mistake about ds 260 because of my father year of birth!! They still give me a checklist

That's horrible! So another 60 days + I wanna laugh and cry and the same time for you.. laugh because after 60 dayso that simple mistake can set you back and cry because it is 60 days!

    Now I'm worried!

Send off the corrected info ASAP my friend. Goodluck

  12. lets stay in contact with each other since we are in the same Caribbean boat lol! Lets hope we hear something before then cause I honestly don't think it takes 60 days it should be a little less. Which would mean a interview late December maybe or early January.

Sounds good to me! A late December interview would be the most amazing thing EVER! Lol but I'm not holding my breath. I am pretty sure I will receive a checklist again so I'm preparing myself for any and everything.

It can be so difficult to wait. When I think about it I get so upset about it. I'm through half ofull the 60 days so I am trying to stay positive here.

I had no idea how this whole visa process went until I found VJ in September while researching a fiancé visa.
