  1. Hello,

I have a question to ask regarding a permanent resident who has not been issued a green card as yet but is outside of the US.

The individual entered the USA in July and left in August before a green card was issued. The card was issued in October but he does not have it because it had to be redone due to an error on the crd. Apparently the biometrics interview was scheduled in December but was rescheduled to this month.

I wanted to know if the individual would have a problem re-entering the USA because they have been out of the USA for 5 months? The individual is a teenager so I am concerned that he may not know how to deal with any issues that may arise with immigration.

  2. NYjones thanks for the words of encouragement, I'm tempted to call but I'm scared also. I think I'll wait until my 60 days reach, my heart can't take another disappointment think I'll really loose it then. And besides that our 1st wedding anniversary is the 25th Jan. So I don't wanna hear nothing negative from NVC.

Congrats! My 60th day is the 25th! Yes, it is tough but Good luck.

  3. Just called recently. I'm still waiting on that 60 days. I tried my luck at seeing if I can get a CC early (estimated Jan 19 is my 60 dyas). No luck. They're pretty adamant about the 60 days; chances of getting early seem pretty slim.

I really don't like the fact that if you get a checklist you gotta hit the reset button and wait another 60 days. The NVC either needs a more efficient process or they need to hire more people to check the mail and review documents.

Yes, reseting for a checklist is difficult. I found out about my checklist on the 55th day of waiting. I was missing a tax form....

Maybe try again next week? I see most persons get word after day 50.

  4. I also have a scanned date of November 18th, Already had two checklist so I'm hoping and praying there is no more and the next time NVC makes contact it will be an interview date.

I know for some cases they only allow a maximum of two checklists then give a cc after that. If any more info is needed the beneficiary is asked to bring it to the interview.

This is my situationew BUT with the NVC you never really know until you know. Good luck!

  5. We sent over 80 pages if information. Chat logs, passport stamps (actually the entire passports of both of us), photos, letter of intent for both of us, letters of support from friends and relatives. The photos were printed out on regular printer paper (not glossy) and some were in black and white. Rather amateur in some cases.

So as not to irritate the USCIS officer we used a table of contents with sections labelled by exhibit numbers. That way they would just need to go through the TOC then select what they wanted. Still took 6 months though......

My fiance was the only one who signed the explanation of how we met.

We included up to 20 pictures with an explanation (on the back) of who is in the pic and location.

We included copies of immigration stamps from both of our passports showing trips together and we only found 1 boarding pass.

about 10 pages of Facebook conversations were included (over the course of 4 years).

We also threw in some postcards we sent each other.

We have received NOA2 as yet soon we may still get a RFE.

    Goodluck!

  6. I have a question regarding the k1 process. A petition was submitted in October 2014 and received by USCIS on the 31st October. NOA1 was received via snail mail around the 10th of November.

Waiting for NOA2 should be next correct? We havenot heard anything since then...almost two months. Is this normal? We are at the Texas center.

    Can anyone shed some light?

  7. Anybody have any updates with their case? How about documents that were received at the Nvc in November?

I have a scan date of 26th November...I'm so surprised 30 days went by so quickly. I think because I stopped checking in here it made me less anxious (that and getting busier). Here's hoping that the second half goes by just as quickly.

When I called the NVC last month they said I will definitely get a CC in January since I have had a maximum of 2 checklists. I'm hoping for a March interview! Good luck!

  8. The best way to build credit scores, is go to the bank your husband deals with. Get a "secured credit card" for 200.00 or 300.00 dollars, (you put up cash to secure the card) but use the 'line of credit' to buy things, and pay it off quickly, like groceries, gas, etc.

Gradually increase your amount. In about 8 months, of very good payment history, you will have a decent credit score. Worked for my wife.

What do you mean gradually increase the amount? The amount being spent using the card? Or the cash secured amount? And since it is cash secured getting it (as a k1 visa holder) won't be an issue?

    Any specific companies you recommend?

  9. Hello, everyone! I'm visiting my fiance at the moment, and being together has reminded me why we're going through the hassle that is obtaining a K1 visa--especially assembling the initial package, which is where we currently stand even as we draw nearer to filing. I just wanted to jump in here, wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year! May 2015 be the year we all finish this journey to be with our loved ones!

Thanks! Same to you...I'm with my fiance also, and I'm trying to enjoy the week we have together. I have more or less separated myself from the VJ website after I received my last checklist. The good news is I'm half way through the 60 day wait so I am hoping that January is the start of great news.

  10. does anyone know if the doc for checklist is still unacceptable; will nvc issue another checklist again or they only issue for once, then the applicant just need to bring the original to the consulate for the interview?

I was told that this is not done for everyone. It is done case by case. For example, I can only be issued 2 checklists maximum. After that, I will be asked to bring the missing information to the interview. It would be best to ask a NVC rep.

  11. I called them last week they told me I had a checklist. I overnighted the missing info last Thursday and they received it next day. I called yesterday and it hasn't been scanned yet. They told me to call back this Friday. The last email that I got from them when I sent my AOS docs stated 60 days from the day the mail was received so I'm hoping it is not 60 days after it has been scanned.

I called the NVC yesterday and was told that the package had not been scanned but the 60 days would start from the day they received it....I always thought it was from the day it was scanned? Maybe they are scanned the day they are received?

I was also told that I would not receive the 60 day email like previously. The rep said they no longer issue those but I'm sure that's untrue.

My package was received by them on the 25th November, so 25th January is my date.

  12. I just remembered I never gave an update. I called on day 54 and was told I have a checklist.

I overnighted the missing info and it arrived this morning. I didnt wait on the email containing the checklist. I called and confirmed with the NVC exactly what was needed. Hopefully it is scanned today so I can restart my 60 day countdown.

I will probably call later to see if it was scanned. At this point, every day counts!
