Then WHY NOT FILE JOINTLY? Why do you absolutely HAVE to do it early? If you are happily married and live together and there are no problems on that front, then you have nothing to worry about.
Sorry, but something sure smells fishy here...

If you apply for AOS right away, you won't even accrue overstay. And there is no need to wait. Your marriage and AOS did not happen "quickly" at all.

*shurg* I'm just telling you what USCIS looks for. Proof of a genuine relationship. You figure out the rest, it's your life
Plus, you are not applying right now. You will be applying for AOS after your marriage. By then, you probably will begin living together and all that jazz. Don't worry about it

Lol whoops i used acco. Because every other thread i read said to.
I fastened the i130 as one and the i485 package separately. Then i put in tabs at the bottom for the forms and supporting documents. Ours was like 3-4 inches thick, so this was the most organized way to do it for me.
Oh well, it was accepted, so i guess as long as its in order it won't matter what you use. Lol

GurkenSalat reacted to Harpa Timsah in Filing aos/ead/ap - mother of goodness how many photos do I need?!?
I believe the person mentioning passport photos for the USC filed AOS from another visa than K-1. For AOS from K-1, just 6 photos of the immigrant.

GurkenSalat reacted to twofors in Birth certificate for interview - Must be original?
Gurken Salat please check out this site for DC http://doh.dc.gov/service/birth-certificates You can do online requests through a service that is provided on the website.
What they are asking for is an official certified copy. Sometimes "original" birth certificates are really not certified copies. I was born in the 1962 what my parents received was not a certified copy but a simple copy from the doctor's office of his record of live birth and a fancier card type with a seal from the hospital. Neither of these qualifies as an original certified copy from the state. You can order as many of these as you want. Just make sure you have enough for the numerous occasions you will be asked for them.

This may have been said, but, what if your friends are just hurt and sad to see you leave and are just very bad at expressing it. Maybe they really don't want to see you go, and they're using this weird strategy to cope. That just my theory... I don't have much to add to what others have said, and I am also sorry you are in this awful situation right now. If you ever want to hear a level-headed view (heh, I flatter myself) of how life is like here in America, or just want to talk, feel free to PM me. I have been here since 2005, so I think I know a thing or two about what it's like and how it is to move to another continent.

GurkenSalat got a reaction from Ovvo in newbie needing help I-130 Proof of Realationship
When we sent in the AOS package, we sent a selection of evidence. A few photos (11) - well, we're not keen on pictures, we didn't have thousands of them. A joint account letter from the bank, petitioner's life insurance showing the beneficiary's name as a... well, beneficiary. That sort of stuff. I realize that you might not have the financial stuff yet, but just send a selection of what you do have. In my case, I thought that if the package is so big/thick that it looks like a novel I'd be afraid to pick up, then it's too much
We also have hundreds of pages of text messages and chat logs (actually, those might go into the thousands of pages!), but we didn't send any of that with the initial package. I just plan to bring it to the interview when the time comes.

That is why I didn't apply for one. The forms confused me. If it is meant for emergencies, but you have to know your travel date and purpose when filling out the form, then... Well, if I have an emergency that requires travel, then I need the AP yesterday, not in 60-90 days! And if I don't know, then I can't apply for it, but if an emergency DOES come up and I have to apply for AP, well... then they will take too long with it. I don't schedule my inter-continental travel emergencies 3 months in advance
But then I was told "you can just apply for it", and it seems like a lot of people do, so... I don't even know how AP is supposed to work anymore!

Ok, I'd changed my address on 03/20/2014 using the online tool. I did get the confirmation the same day
as follows: Address change request successfully submitted:
    Updated Address To:
    ------
    ----(my new address)
    Service Request: *******MSC
Expect a reply by: April 1, 2014 No reply was ever received. But when my I130 was approved on 04/04/2014 and they sent me a notice that my case has been approved and they sent me the notice at my previous address, the mail was returned to them as undeliverable. I received an email on 05/02/2014 stating mail was returned as undeliverable, please contact customer service. Then I called USCIS and the CS representative told me that my address was never changed. So she told me to call NVC as my case was already forwarded to them. I called NVC and they updated my address. So finally after about 2 months my address was actually updated. Please just call USCIS and have them update the address even though the online tool is available.

After you file for his adjustment of status, he will be in a period of authorized stay until the case gets processed. Even if this period extends over 90 days, he's fine as long as the paperwork has been filed and received by USCIS.
