    No, no request of additional documents, the officer said it was good to go. That's why I am not sure what's going on.

    So this happened to me today, literally the day before my supposed interview... "an officer called me and said due to some system administrative issues, we had to reschedule your interview." so if this is true, i recalled my interviewer having some issues putting in the date for my oath to be scheduled, but succeeded eventually at that point of time, i guess you may be in that system glitch too?

    i called USCIS to verify the caller and to make sure it isn't a scam. They assured it wasn't. So i would recommend you calling them and talking about your situation, get an info pass appt.

    Hi, based on mine at Federal Plaza (the ones in the District Court are different):

    • went to 3rd floor, held in a large waiting room while the security officers organized an orderly process to filter into the actual ceremony room
    • once in the ceremony room, lined up to have a very brief interview with an officer to hand in the N445 and go through your answers quickly.  There were 4-5 officers doing this process
    • shown to a seat where you found a flag, letter from President and information from USCIS about being a citizen
    • ceremony started about on time: speeches from senior Field Office personnel; stand up (and stay standing) when your original country of citizenship is called, national anthem, swearing oath and some festivities
    • handed your Naturalization certificate while in the row you were seated in (USCIS was really organized about this)
    • on the way out of the room, a bunch of people were waiting to do voter registration - 2 minute process with forms filled in on the spot

    I had separately completed my passport applications ahead of time and had an appointment at the Post Office an hour or so later to apply for the passport.  I did expedited and got the passport in about a week.  If you plan to do something like this, go to the FedEx store near Federal Plaza where you can make a photocopy of the Naturalization certificate, which is necessary for the passport application (both the original and a copy are needed).

    Good luck and enjoy it.

    Thank you very much for this information. Could you provide an estimate time spent for the whole process. I’m contemplating to bring my kids just worried it would take too long and they will get so restless.

    any tips on Parking? Street parking are off the picture I assume?

    Oh my! Should I be worried that despite the officer telling me he is approving my case, I didn't get any notification for my Oath Ceremony?

    We’re you waiting on any other documents? Like I-751? Or maybe you need to submit an additional document? If not, maybe you should see if there is a way to request for information. So odd if you see the date you got, you should have already done your oath or to the least be in the same one as me!

    Congrats on becoming a US citizen! (I took a look at your other posts since your profile said K1 on it, so wanted to make sure you were a citizen eligible to file for your parent)

    1.  Up to you.

    2.  She will be in a period of authorized stay while her AOS is pending.  She can also submit the i-131 (free with concurrent filing) for a travel document so she'll be able to leave the country for tourism, etc. once it's approved (if she leaves the country BEFORE the i-131 is approved she can be found to have abandoned her AOS filing)

    3.  The i-130, yes.  The i-485, no.

    Thank you, yes i noticed I-485 doesn't have the online option after.

    Would you know by any chances on the chances of "approval" for concurrent applications?

  5. Hello All,

    I am creating this topic to gain some knowledge of the process of getting my mother a PR here. She is currently in the US, and per USCIS, it does mention that i can concurrently submit I-130, and I-485. I have queries about the following, in hopes someone out-there can help me!

    1. Should i submit both? or to be safe and cost effective should i use start with I-130? If i do only the I-130, will it impact her stay here?

    2. Upon submission of one or both documentation, can she remain in the country or leave after 6 months of being here?

    3. Is it possible to submit both documentations online?

    Appreciate your time and knowledge in this!

    Hope this thread will be helpful to other too!!

    Wow I am amazed by your story! I have my interview on the 22nd and even though they told me I was approved I have no clue when my ceremony will take place and I didn't get the letter on my account. Did they tell you upfront about the November date? Nothing was told to me. I am a bit concerned since I want to plan ahead to make sure I can take time off for the ceremony.

    My interviewer told me straight up after saying I am approved. He even told me which floor and the earliest date he can schedule me in. Is your office at the same place I went to as well? my letter came up within  24 hrs.

  7. Hello All,

    I had my citizenship interview at 26 Federal Plaza on Oct 28th. The process for me was not too long, got to the waiting place (7th Gl-unit 700) between 1230-1245, registered my name, got a number and called in by 1pm as per the time provided in the letter.

    The interviewer was was very friendly, asked me about where I lived and what I did and if I travelled anywhere out of US. Got me to read a  sentence first (who is Washington?) followed by writing a sentence (Washington was the first president). Then we pursued with the 6 questions (as long as you get the first 6 right, you are good to move on!). He then got me to sign few verifications, also answer some required questions and I was done! Told me, he will send my information for citizenship approval also provided the date and time for my oath, which will be on Nov 15th at 11am. Sent me to another waiting room, in which we waited longer just to find out that their printer doesn’t work and gave me a preliminary document till I get the official one in my mail. In fact I got the text and email update as well as the copy online on Oct 29th.

    Hope this information helps. Good luck to everyone.

    Tappan, Rockland is not Manhattan but under NYC Manhattan jurisdictions when it comes to processing the N-400. I was told by the IO during my interview that, the interview notice is based on county, because I asked her how come some people are still not getting interview prior than my application and that's how she explained to me. No wonder that @dhavalkumar got the interview right away because I think there are only few people filed the N-400 under his county. I was told as well that interview notice is being generated automatically, no human intervention.

    That is useful information! Thank you @Lemon23!

    odd even for something which was electronically generated it still takes time. You would think it can issue the date, and the officers get working on the case by the allocated date. I guess they put a min of 3montshs wait (average) before sending out the interview dates.

  9. 1 hour ago, N400NYC said:

    @dhavalkumar - your experience is interesting because you are living in Manhattan and have received an interview within 5 months which is super fast by the standards of the "NYC" field office. So I guess we are trying to work out if that was just a one-time luck thing or there are other factors involved (like the "last in, first out" theory mentioned elsewhere). If I got an interview within six months I would be very happy based on how dismal things currently look.

    He lives in tappan,NY (Rockland)- that’s the part @Lemon23 was explaining there is a further breakdown based on counties.

  10. 2 minutes ago, Lemon23 said:

    Should be in Manhattan based on the Tappan, NY zipcode 10983, but different floor and group in Manhattan Federal Plaza building is processing the application for applicants from OP's location.

    Interview notice is based on County, regardless if the interview location is on Manhattan.

    I was under the impression they would just dump everyone in line based on FIFO. So they have different areas/levels/offices for the different county. Would that mean that the rest of the surrounding counties which are not as packed up like NYC applicants would make it faster?

    Some other members who have filed in the Manhattan field office in the past 12 months, most of whom are awaiting interviews (from what I have observed in other threads) are:

    @Dbkrantz (July 2018)

    @Luisfmp86 (August 2018)

    @Claudio Romero (October 2018)

    @Polis (January 2019)

    @dhavalkumar (January 2019) - has an interview in June 2019

    @prianca (February 2019)

    @h2o15 (May 2019)

    Hi all!

    So from what I see above no one except @dhavalkumar has got an interview date provided?

    has there been cases which has been completed within 3-5months? I’ve seen such results in other offices. Not sure about NYC?

  12. 24 minutes ago, N400NYC said:

    OK. Another question...down bottom of your profile, what does it say for "estimated wait time"? Is that the same or different from what it says up the top ("estimated case completion time")?

    Mine just got updated! Literally! Well it says 11months now at the bottom part.

    How long have have you been waiting? Do you know any others with the NYC office, timeline?

  13. 2 hours ago, N400NYC said:

    Good to see some more NYC field office folks here. I am perplexed as to why there aren't more given how many applications get processed in NYC.

    So your estimated case completion (up the top of your USCIS account profile) now says May 2020?

    What does it say at the bottom of the page - that should be updated after biometrics to indicated how long you have to wait for the interview, the next step.

    Hi! So where in NYC are you based at?

    Well Yes my USCIS account profile still does say that.

    No updates on my USCIS account profile yet. They told me to wait for mail, and of course I forgot to ask them about online applications.

    Hi all!

    Glad to have found this group! I have a query:

    i would like to know if I need to initiate reschedule of biometrics to be able to do a walk in? Or just attempt a walk in to see if they would accept me? Has anyone been rejected despite having the appointment letter? Also can I print the letter posted online and use it, if I don’t receive the one via postal by this Thursday (planning to walk in then).

    if it’s okay to go for an early walk in, any advise on the time of day? Also do they need proof of reason to the early walk in?

    My current timeline, as attached. When will I know the CIS LOCATION?

    Hello everyone!

    To begin with thank you guys for all the advice and guides on my process.

    So so I did a walk in today at the Bronx, NY ASC, they took me in, asked reason for coming in early, gave them the reason and they processed me within 15 mins. Went smoothly, gave me a civics test book and was done!

    Now it’s a wait game for the next step. Based on the website my office would be the NY office. Current timeline on my online case has reduced form 13 months to 12 months. Meanwhile processing time on USCIS mentions 13-22.5months!

    All the best!

  16. Hello,

    I brought my dog a lab-mix from Malaysia to NYC, via Air France (they have two stop routes, 1st-via Amsterdam, 2nd- via Paris) I Chose the one via Amsterdam because they will handle the cleaning and welfare of the dog (thus you have to pay an extra USD300), otherwise in Paris you would need to take the dog out on your own and handle the whole feeling, and 'toilet' sessions. In total it cost me a total of MYR 3000. However, other options you can look into is luftanza, which is said to be very good with animals as well.

    What you need, would be full vaccinations per the american requirements (Rabies vacc is a must) your vet should be able to advise. Remember to microchip the dog as well. I used a Vet + an Agent which is needed in Malaysia to transport any animals out or into the country.Different countries may have other different requirements. Just ensure the safety of your dog is the priority when you discuss with the Agent (they will prepare all other documentations required for the traveling).

    Do hope this information helps!!

    All the best :-)

    Shal
