Britsimon got a reaction from vanessalga in Want to apply for DV lottery- husband a citizen already
As a US citizen your husband can petition for you immediately, there are unlimited visas for "immediate relatives" - no waiting time at all. It makes no sense at all to enter the lottery, wait until May to see if you won and then wait for processing between 1 to 2 years from now. Frankly, I would imagine a CO doing a DV interview in this scenario would be suspicious of the marriage anyway - since a married citizen would obviously want to take the shortest route to bring his/her spouse to the USA.

Interesting fact. Among all the embassies that process more than a handful of cases annually, Abu Dhabi is the embassy with the highest rate of AP at the end of the year - which is the status you are on Yuce. Over 20% of cases processed during the year at Abu Dhabi failed to resolve their cases before year end in DV2014. The AP cases would have been cases where the selectees went to the interview ill prepared because they don't seem to have read the instructions or learned from more experienced people. That's a shame - and that is exactly why I picked up on your (incorrect) sweeping generalization. I'm sure you will be able to resolve your case, and it is great that you took the time to detail it for others to learn from - but let's be careful with broad statements if you aren't really sure of what you are talking about.

In the case you describe you can put 0 or list them - that doesn't matter either way (since they are ineligible).
If you did not complete the entry that entry is deleted - and you can start a new application.

Yes was the correct answer (because the OP is clearly planning to work as a nurse but has not yet got the credentials).
However, I agree she is not going to have a problem because the DV program is not employment based - therefore as you correctly stated the OP can obtain licensing later.

    Right.
Question: Do you intend to get a job (skilled or unskilled)?
Answer: NO. But I will work to support myself.
    Genius.

LOL - no, that is not what this is referring to - nothing to do with Kung Fu skills.
For some types of visa applications (immigrant and non immigrant, employment based applications) the employer is required to obtain "labor certification". Simplistically it is a process where the job offer to the immigrant is verified to make sure that things such as prevailing wage conditions will be met (amongst others). For my H1 visa for instance it was necessary to obtain that certification and it is granted by the Department of Labor.
However, it does NOT apply in DV applications, nor family based immigration and so on - because those visas are not dependent on the job.
The DS 260 form has questions in there that are NOT specific or even relevant to DV cases and for that reason DV applicants have to answer the question that has worried some folk here. For other visa types, care must be taken to answer appropriately but for DV it is only important to be truthful even though that same answer could be a red flag for other application types.

Just take a breath and think about what you are saying.
Based on your advice someone who is planning to marry in a month (before the interview) should list their status as married???? That would guarantee disqualification in that case - but the person would be following your logic.
IN this case I don't believe answering yes or no will cause a DQ, BUT I am trying to advise the person to take the question literally and answer the truth at this point in time. So - it isn't about what choice sounds more convincing - it is about answering truthfully. Isn't that clear to you?
Oh and by the way, in DV cases it is quite normal to update status, so no, it is not final once submitted.
    LOL snap.

Yes I understand that. but answering a question "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?" needs to be taken literally. Does he have that, NO! Will he have the medical and get the jabs - of course!

The form is not DV specific so questions like that are just generic. Answer yes and don't worry about DOL

    STOP!
Do not answer questions based on what you think you will do. The question in this case is do you have a document... So unless you HAVE the document the answer is no. Inaccuracies/lying is a much bigger red flag!

The AP surge in the last monts is real for AF although this year that will be bad for thse cases if we don't make it to Sept 30. KCC seem totally unaware of the impending problem, so I am sure the embassies are also unaware and will process in the same way as normal. Normal seems to be to magically clear the last remaining AP cases as late as the last couple of weeks (which probably means they give up waiting for whatever checks they were doing).

Susie is exactly right on all counts.
I have to admit I chuckled when I read the thing about the partner arriving as being grounds to bring it forward. Like yeah, they shift the whole system around based on what is convenient for us. Wow - do you have a shock coming. I think you are going to need to take up Yoga or something to stay relaxed when dealing with a totally straightforward but absolutely inflexible system. But it will be good training for you when dealing with American organizations (such as the SSA, DMV, Banks, Schools and so on).

OK, first of all relax, slow down. This is a long process - don't feel like you have to get it all done now - and submitting on May 19th (versus a couple of weeks later for example) makes NO DIFFERENCE to your case.
First. Think about your Case number. If it is medium high, you should maybe wait. If it is crazy high, uyou might even want to consider whether you file at all - because doing so declares your intent to emigrate - which can lead to problems if you need to renew your temp visa. So - post the CN here (with region, but hiding the last few numbers). That way we can help you decide when your case will be current.
Next, you should only do a medical at the right time to coordinate with your interview process (or form submission if doing aos).
Since you are already in the US you might want to do the aos process. Again, if you have a high number you should watch what happens this year (DV2014). If you do go through the aos process you can choose any USCIS panel physician that is convenient to you at the time. But in any case that is VERY unlikely to be needed this summer unless your number is VERY low.
For CP, the medical has to be done in country with a doctor they list.
About the high school stuff. The rules request "at least" US High school equivalent - i.e. a 12 year elementary and secondary education. Sometimes COs have insisted on seeing high school diplomas even when the applicant has higher education (even from US universities). Sometimes they have let that slide. So - you would be wise to focus your attention on obtaining that HS diploma - just wise to be prepared.
