Hi All,

So I have a perhaps decent number, and I am trying to get my paperwork ready by May 19.

I have a specific question about education (and the medical exam), but I think we should use this thread for all documentation questions.

I have a high school diploma from my country of origin, as well as a college diploma from the US (and will also get an MS degree from the US in August). The problem is that I cannot find my high school diploma anywhere... Would they accept my college diploma as proof of education? They say you need high school or higher..

Also, for the medical examination, do I need to do it in Kentucky, or could I do it in Boston (where I'm interning this summer)?

Thanks!

Born in Romania, been living in the US since 2007 (F1 visa)

F1 visa 2007-2011, 2011-2016 - OPT received August 25, 2014

DV-2015 Selectee - Case Number EU30,7xx - Interview estimate: May/June 2015 (?) - Might try to do AOS though it looks like it might be worse this year

OK, first of all relax, slow down. This is a long process - don't feel like you have to get it all done now - and submitting on May 19th (versus a couple of weeks later for example) makes NO DIFFERENCE to your case.

First. Think about your Case number. If it is medium high, you should maybe wait. If it is crazy high, uyou might even want to consider whether you file at all - because doing so declares your intent to emigrate - which can lead to problems if you need to renew your temp visa. So - post the CN here (with region, but hiding the last few numbers). That way we can help you decide when your case will be current.

Next, you should only do a medical at the right time to coordinate with your interview process (or form submission if doing aos).

Since you are already in the US you might want to do the aos process. Again, if you have a high number you should watch what happens this year (DV2014). If you do go through the aos process you can choose any USCIS panel physician that is convenient to you at the time. But in any case that is VERY unlikely to be needed this summer unless your number is VERY low.

For CP, the medical has to be done in country with a doctor they list.

About the high school stuff. The rules request "at least" US High school equivalent - i.e. a 12 year elementary and secondary education. Sometimes COs have insisted on seeing high school diplomas even when the applicant has higher education (even from US universities). Sometimes they have let that slide. So - you would be wise to focus your attention on obtaining that HS diploma - just wise to be prepared.

Yes, but I am leaving town for a summer internship on the 17th, so I need to make sure I take all needed documents with me (and my parents mail me the international documents + translation of documents that I don't have with me). How late can I file?

My CN is a little bit below EU 30,800 so from the past 3 years it seems like they'll reach my case between May and July, provided they don't run out of visas by then (they've reached 30,700 now and it seems like they'll reach 32,000 in June)...

Next, you should only do a medical at the right time to coordinate with your interview process (or form submission if doing aos).

AOS is adjustment of status? So, if I do that, I need to do the medical before submitting the form?

I doubt I'll be getting any non-immigrant visa any time soon, since I'm graduating and planning to get an OPT at some point in August (and I have the visa until 2016).

For CP, the medical has to be done in country with a doctor they list.

Not sure what CP means?
Thanks for your help! I'm way too excited and hopeful about this...

So with that number you don't have to do anything for months. You could do everything around Christmas and still be ok. So relax....
