Life is all about decisions. One decides to live in another country. One decides to assume a certain risk associated with it. One decides to become a soldier, invade a foreign country, and shoot at other people. Here to the individual assumes a certain risk. One decides to marry a soldier. And again that individual accepts a risk.
If you move to Alaska, don't complain about the cold. If you are a plumber, don't complain if you have smelly stuff on your hands. If you are a drug dealer, don't complain if you get locked up for life. If you are a firefighter, don't complain if you get burned. If you are a soldier, don't complain if you get shot. If you marry a soldier, don't complain if he doesn't come back. If you immigrate to a foreign country, don't complain about the bureaucracy.
    There's always a choice.

I am going on the assumption that the overwhelming majority of people on this site have gone through a arduous and expensive legal process to obtain legitimate immigration status to the USA. I myself have spent between 3 and 4 thousand on the process.
I just wanted to hear what thoughts or feelings are generally held by members of this site towards those who either snuck into the country completely or willfully over stayed their tourist visa in order to reap the financial and quality of life benefits offered by this country. this includes people that come for a holiday in a ruse designed to give birth to their child on us soil and insist on being allowed to stay because their child has birthright citizenship. ireland has revoked this right in 2002 and i believe that the us should do the same.
my personal feeling towards them is that they are a burden to be expunged and/or imprisoned in most cases. I think their action stains the value of the process that we all went through and i personally have zero compassion for any one who is kick out on their #######.
that being said, i have also heard of plenty of people that did go through the same process as me and my wife have that were denied because of a brain damaged processing agent at uscis. these people do everything above boards and bend over backwards to comply with the rediculous set of laws that are in place and yet are still punished with deportation due to a technicality. I fear, perhaps unjustifiably, that incompetancy at uscis could claim me as a victim and so i therefore have endless sympathy for anyone who has been kicked out after having done everything that was asked of them.
I recall a case involving a croat woman that married a former us soldier after the bosnia conflict. when the call was sent out for volunteers to go to iraq, out of his inner sense of patriotism, the husband had an inner calling to re-enlist and serve his country in the war on terror. in 2002 they scheduled their interview which was supposed to take place in 2003(sorry I dont have the dates exact). The husband was killed in action defending this country before the scheduled date of the interview. Because they missed their interview uscis/ice initiated deportation precedings against a woman that had lived here for 10 years and had 2 children with her us citizen husband who died honorably in service to his country for a cause he believed in. The long drawn out battle eventually brought the woman to court with the parents of the fallen soldier in her corner fighting on her behalf. The court decided in her favor and allowed her to stay. In their infinite wisdom the USCIS appealed the court decision and resumed deportation preceedings. I do not have the ending of this story but in my story boook world this lady was rightfully granted residency and allowed to persue citizenship, however, as we all know story books dont often allign with real life. My heart goes out to people who are put in these situations.

This post must be the one you're referring to. I don't think payxibka was being rude, just being straight-up with you. And I'm also not trying to be rude here, but the question you asked (when can my K1 recipient start working) is, if not the number one question on Visa Journey, then certainly in the top 5. You said you searched and read, but obviously not very much. A simple search, reading the guides, or just trolling the forums would have answered this question within minutes. Given the question, it's my opinion that you were treated exceptionally kindly.
I also want to point out that you weren't treated as rudely as you think. I agree that we need to remember there are real people behind the keyboards here, but there are two sides to that coin. Everyone here has a limited amount of personal bandwidth, so people looking for answers need to be a little more proactive before wasting everyone's time by asking a question that's been asked and answered a zillion times before. If your question was handled a little tersely, well...there's a reason. But also recognize that asking dumb questions and getting slapped around a little bit is just part of the process. Don't take it personal. Live and learn, and before you have your first heart you'll be slapping others around just like a pro. It's why we're here. To slap.

Where is he from is not relevant... Laziness is a citizen in every country! He got is 10 year green card and will be ready for 3 year citizenship soon..maybe this year or the next. Do not divorce him and prolong his citizenship. Stay married, give him his citizenship and then divorce him.
your I864 ends with fulfilling one of the below:
    1. working 40 quarter credits. Thats lots of work when laziness is a virtue. NOT POSSIBLE
    2. he dies. he could blame you for his death. NOT POSSIBLE
    3. He abandons the green card...he is here to stay. NOT POSSIBLE
    4. he is removed from the US....I dont see a non criminal leech being removed. NOT POSSIBLE.
    5. Becomes a USC....POSSIBLE!
Divorce will not end your 864 obligations, on the contrary it will extend them by 2 additional years. Hopefully he is intelligent and hardworking to pass the citizenship exam. If he is notoriously lazy then you are looking at a good night sleep only till be gets US citizenship.

Some have such choices thrust upon them. At any rate (in my opinion; yours differs), excellent riddance, and perhaps the moderators and even Admiral Ewok may agree.

I would be very happy to know that RJ was stranded on a desert island (Pitcairn?) while the wheels of USCIS slowly ground. And, regardless of accuracy rating (which has nothing to do with toxicity), pushbrk is here and RJ is not.I still recommend that all current critics of pushbrk read his messages since the beginning of the year.

This topic comes up time and again, and it always makes me chuckle cos it's the same old same old.
At the end of the day, this is a member driven site. And I've read various sites that would give 'rude' a new definition. I don't think we need to mollycoddle n00bs...if they ask a stupid q, or don't read the guides, or don't read the pinned topics, etc...then they're kinda asking for it imo. Don't come here expecting to be spoon-fed your petition from start to finish.
Would you rather the 'vets' didn't answer q's? *shrug*
I say, suck it up, put it in perspective, and all will be fine.

A fifth grader can fill out forms, it's the understanding of content that they are providing and attesting to that this information is correct, is the problem when the USC didn't bother to read the guidelines to try to have a good understanding of them before they posted their question(s). This process is not just about filling out a form, it's about the USC understanding the visa process, along with their responsibility and obligation to their SO/husband. When a poster comes on this board and start crying about how can I send my SO back home after they have gone thru this process, this comment tells anyone with good common sense that the USC did not truly understand the intial process. You are not buying/leasing a SO or a husband, so there is no sending back or returning them as if they have brought a shirt from a department store. Are they truly aware of the 10 year commiment they have commited themselves to when they have signed the I-864 Affidavit of Support Form, I bet most people don't.
The people who post on VJ are only a small fraction of the people who are going thru the immigration process everyday there are alot more being processed and approved without the aid and assitant of VJ. Those who post here needs to understand that VJ is a FREE service being offered by those who have gone through the process and fellow VJ's want to give something back to those who are now going thru it.
"Maybe I should mock your use of irrelevant punctuation marks to prove my point?" This is what started the discussion in the first place,(rudeness) therefore if this makes you feel like the bigger person go ahead and make your point. P.S. Since you took my comment and anyone elses comment as a personal attack against you, I think it's your problem, not mines.
The one piece of advice I would give to any USC is to understand what a hugh commitment this is for them.
One of the things that everyone needs to understand, Rules changes everyday, that's why is is important that the guidelines are read.
I have gone thru the process and I am truly comfortable with my end result and my understanding of the process. Also I am aware that the information that I have supplied to Home Land Security will follow us until he becomes a citizen of the US so yes both of us have better been involved in this process.

Toxicity and accuracy percentage are different matters entirely. For instance, an allogeneic stem cell transplant has a high rate of success if the patient actually survives, if you catch my drift.

Oh, si man -- TOS violations, baiting, & personal attacks are definitely report-worthy, & I've reported some myself. It's the "that advice is so straightforward that it hurts my (or someone else's) widdle feelings" that I object to, si man.Point: Despite pushbrk's reputation (deserved or not) for harshness, has anyone noticed the changed tone as of the new year? Take a look for a while, starting with existing posts & continuing with new ones.
Point: The most toxic VJ member that I can think of during my time here, RebeccaJo, is no longer. Thanks be for that, si man.

It you print about 10 copies of that, you can wipe you wimpy liberal bunghole with it. Think of it as an executive order signed by the President for a naive Congressman, and about as worth as much.
