  2. Hi.

My wife and I are currently undergoing the CR1 process. Our petition has been approved by the USCIS and is currently being reviewed by the NVC (received April 20).

Recently my wife (in Colombia) has been told by someone that our Colombian marriage certificate will not be valid in the US (North Carolina) and that we would have to marry again once here. I have read nothing on the internet that supports this and it seems counterintuitive to the entire idea of the CR1. Is this in any way legit?

    Thank you.

The information given to your wife is not accurate, your marriage certificate is valid in your country, that's why USCIS approved your petition.

And also welcome to the group to all the new filers :)

    Nadine, mine says:

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

    • At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.

When Jim saw the "validation error" he panicked! lol and spent about 2 hours on the phone...

  4. Guys!!

My fiance called that 1800 number and after a long time on hold he got to talk to a lady who according to him sounded pretty nice. She said the website has no issues or glitch reported, and that the message we are getting appears when someone is working on our case. Jim told her also that when we sign in, we can see that our case was updated on April 14. She said, that means that on April 14, someone worked on it and until one touches our case again, then that is the time we will see a new date, update, rfe or approval but she can "see in the system" our case is already assigned to an official and its on initial review, she also explained this is the 2nd stage after acceptance which is automatically generated when we get the noa1 (this explains why I was able to see my case before) during initial review stage uscis do the background check of the petitioner and review the case to see if there are red flags (fraud)

Just wanted to share this with you guys....hopefully we get good news soon.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    And congrats to Naire37!!

    :goofy:

  5. In Colombia, they are doing all background checks (police certificates) online. They will not give you a physical piece of paper that is signed (and if I am wrong, please correct me and explain where to go to get a physical one). You just have to print out a screen that says that you have no criminal record. It looks really unofficial.

Has anyone else run into this? Was it accepted? Would it help if we got it "apostillado"?

    Hi djbenitez.

The "registro de antecedentes judiciales" is a valid document according to the article 248 of our Constitution, it can be downloaded from this page any moment, and doesn't need to be apostillado, my suggestion is to print a couple of certificates the day before the interview, the service is always available: (Click control+P to print out the form)

In case you have any other questions, here is a group (In spanish) with all the information about the process in Colombia, some members just got approved at the embassy in Bogota:

    Have a good night! :star:

  6. I definitely have too much time on my hands (even though I am doing this at work, LOL), but does anyone know if there is a particular time of the day that they send out the electronic NOA1 notifications ?? Do they do them all at the end of the day, or does it just seem to be random times?

    Thanks.

Thanks Nadine. I will breath a huge sigh of relief when I see that it is California and (hopefully) not Texas.

Hi David, my F sent our petition on April 1st, they got it April 2nd (overnight delivery) check was cashed April 3rd and out first notification was by sms and email on April 6th around 5pm (Colombia time).

I hope your case was routed to CSC :)

  7. Hello, I am very sad at the moment. I have my embassy interview for my visa next week. We, my wife and I have been going together for a year. She met me online and I went to the US to meet with her. We fell in love and got married. I had to come home for work which I did and we filed for spouse visa. Now I think she is seeing someone else. Someone I know and trust who lives in the same area as her has seen her together with another man, they were kissing and not in a friendly way either. She has become cold the last month or so and answers my questions very brief - unlike when we meet. What must I do now? I still want to go to the US and see her, maybe we can work this out. I'm just confuse

Just have your full trust in her...don't entertain doubts or listen to other people,it will only ruin your relationship.

She is your wife, you know her more than we do.

Going there before the interview is a good idea, hope everything works out for the best JJSims.

  8. Hey Guuuyss...

seems like all of our NOA2 predictions are moving forward in time

Also...just checked the CSC timelines and petitions with the NOA1 date of the 29th of March are currently being processed....its getting close to April!!!!

Sooo excited for the first of us to get their approval *fingerscrossed* ;)

Yay!! Just checked my timeline too and mine has changed:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between April 27, 2015 and April 30, 2015*. :wow:

but my case still off on uscis webpage, did you check yours?

  9. In Egypt it's not appropriate to have such ceremony as it doesn't look good to her family or her friends. When we talk about wedding, we mean traditional wedding. It's hard to pull off such ceremonies in egypt.

    thanks for understanding.

Thank you for clarifying, I learned something new today.

I admire your willing to fulfill your father in law wishes, that's what marriage is all about, together for better or worse. Your gf must be very proud of you.

Good luck to you and your fiancée.

  10. Hi Everyone. Due to circumstances, my fiancee and I will get married before the completion of our K1 because her dad is at a very bad stage of his life and he has been in the hospitals for almost 2 months now. I would like to withdraw my K1 pettion and after getting married, file the CR1. I have couple of questions:

    1) How to withdraw the K1 after we already got approved and our case is at the NVC

    2) Can I just file the CR1 right away or do i have to wait until the K1 is withdrawn ?

3)The money that paid for K1, is that totally lost or can it be used toward the CR1?

4)Does anyone know how long it takes for CR1?

5)Are all cases sent to TSC being forwarded to CSC?

    any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Coolman.

I am sorry for your fiancee, I can't imagine how is she feeling.

I understand her father's wishes, but also look at the stage you are now.

My suggestion is think about a nice ceremony with her family and close friends, but without signing a marriage certificate.

A family member of my best friend was in a terminal stage of liver cancer, her boyfriend proposed and her family organized a nice last-minute commitment ceremony in her room at the hospital but without a priest or a judge; another member of the family was the officiant (he had no license to do it so),the ceremony was a simple romantic expression of love and devotion and she was extremely happy, what your gf dad wants is to be able to be part of the most important day of her life. A unity celebration would be a great idea for you guys, exchange vows, promise to her dad your commitment to her, and once she gets the visa just make it official with a certificate.

Think about it, there are great ideas online about this type of ceremony.

My prayers are with you, your gf and her family during this difficult time.

  11. Hi. I just filed last Friday, April 17th and just saw the Express Mail delivery receipt this morning. My fiancé is from Medellin Colombia. I really hope our packet is routed to California. I will watch for the text message/email.

So from everything I read online today it seems like the entire process could be anywhere from 3 months to 9 months, with 3 months being very unlikely. I really hope that it helps by the fact that our petition is very straightforward with no previous marriages, no kids, no previous filings, etc. not sure if that makes a difference or not but I can hope. Thanks for all the great information on here.

    Welcome!

    Hope you find here all the info you need,feel free to ask;

Most of our cases were routed to CSC, hope yours too :goofy:

  12. I almost feel like the odd one out, I haven't had mine show up as unavailable yet. Did any of you create a USCIS account and add your tracking number to that or are you just entering it in manually into the search window each time?

    Hi Kirsty.

    I do both.

When I enter manually my tracking number I see the whole message:

At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.

When I log in to my account, I see nothing other than it was updated 04/14 (see attachments)
