41 minutes ago, AlexisCC said:this will only affect those who use public assistance such as welfare etc...which during the process of becoming a legal immigrant one of the assurances you agree to is that you WILL NOT be a public burden to the country. So essentially its just being enforced now.
It's still horrible. The fact that they're trying to say that having Marketplace-based insurance under the Affordable Care Act makes one a "public charge" is ridiculous. For example, I intend to apply for citizenship in a couple of months. My records are clean, taxes filed every year, almost perfect credit score, USC kids, decent paying job, the whole nine yards. But I did have marketplace-based (which cost me 1/18th of what it cost to get a plan with my university's plan) insurance during my graduate school days, and what this proposal is attempting to do is to strip me of my qualification to acquire citizenship due to the fact that I received health insurance from the marketplace (something I paid for). Let me also note that I have never received SNAP benefits. At the time, I didn't even mind being uninsured, but my school required health insurance for full-time students and it would've been counter-intuitive to pay $3339 for 11 months of coverage, when I could get coverage on the marketplace for way less than that. So, yes, the hysteria is understandable. This proposal is absurd.

Yes, she can be a joint sponsor. She'll have to submit her tax transcripts for the past few years in addition to the affidavit of support. You'll also have to submit proof of US status (greencard or citizenship) for the joint sponsor.

372 days after mailing my i-751, I've finally received my notice of approval today!! Thanks for your assistance throughout the process, VJ family. Best of luck to everyone still awaiting their decision letters.

It looks like they updated processing times for VSC, so I was finally able to submit a case inquiry. It says I should hear back by 3/11. I'll keep you posted!
How do you know if your case is outside the "normal processing time?" I'm a May 2016 filer and I'd like to submit an inquiry, but I'm not sure if mine is outside the normal processing time or not. Thanks.

Has anyone else noticed on the USCIS website that they're now processing cases as of July 28, 2016 for Vermont? Two weeks ago it was December 2015, and now it's sprung forward by a few months. I really hope that's a good sign!

Hi, my interview is in 2 weeks and my understanding is
1. No you don't need to fill out forms already submitted, no I864
2. No need for copies of the G325A, I765 I485 etc
If you have a copy of your completed medical form I-693 then take it along.
Original and copies of all your documents that prove you are eligible to adjust and proof of your current status - I-94, previous visas (in your case F1- visa) even if expired, your EAD, Student ID if you are still enrolled, DL, original certified copy of your marriage certificate, your lease and so on.
No, you do not need to fill a new affidavit of support even though your financial status has changed. New bank statements since you filed, pay stubs from both your jobs are sufficient.
My interview was today. Got approved!!! Thanks for your help, the information you provided proved to be highly useful. My interview was painlessly easy, the interviewing officer didn't even ask for a photo album. He only asked two questions regarding our marriage; "how did we meet" and "why we chose to get married on a Thursday." My case status was updated online by noon. Once again, thanks a million. Wish you all the best on your interview. God bless!

Dear Fellow VJ members,
I have a few questions for those of you who've already completed the AOS interview as well as those who may have knowledge regarding what I ask.
First of all, my interview is this coming Friday, August 1 and I need clarification with regards to the documents that I need to take with me.
1. On the checklist, the USCIS requests "(unless already submitted) completed Affidavit(s) of support with all required evidence." - When we mailed the initial AOS documents, we did submit completed Affidavits of support (I-864) for both the petitioner and a cosponsor. Therefore, my question has to do with the "unless already submitted" clause. Does this mean that we don't have to take two new I-864s since the USCIS already has them?
P.S.: My spouse has changed jobs over this period and now earns more than what was earned when we first mailed the docs. Also, since receiving my EAD, I've gotten a job that pays around $35K a year. So do we have to take a new Affidavit to the interview or not?
2. The USCIS also requests Original and Copy of all supporting documents submitted with the application. Does this mean that I have to once again fill out all the forms I mailed them, i.e.: I-485, I-765, G325A, I-864, as well as our joint lease agreement, our joint bank account, our joint car insurance and the photos we submitted?
Would appreciate whatever response I can generate. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply. I just got the same email as yours this evening. My card was already picked up by USPS today.
That's awesome, congratulations!!!!
-
Congrats for your EAD
I haven't got it yet. Can I ask whether you got email/text for card production status and if so how many days until you get card shipment email/text alert?
Thank you
I got a text and an email on Monday evening 6/16/14 saying that my case status had been updated and when I checked it, this is the message is saw: The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on June 16, 2014. The USPS tracking number assigned is #DCN. You can use this number at......blah blah blah
When I entered the tracking code, I saw that the card had already been shipped and was at my local post office, due to be delivered the next day. I received the card yesterday morning 6/17/2014 at 9:57 am.
Hope you make sense of what I wrote. Good luck!!!

Congrats to all the folks who've received their interview appointment and/or the EAD production notice!!!! I've been in "Testing and Interview" for almost three weeks now but still no date yet. I try to keep myself from checking for updates but it seems like impatience is getting the better of me. Anyway, I'm hoping for a miracle soon. Good luck to the rest of you folks who're anxiously waiting like me.

I have a question regarding the medical examination for Adjustment of Status. Prior to filing concurrently for AOS, I completed my medical examination at a USCIS Civil Surgeon's office. However, at the time of the examination, I hadn't received any of the required immunizations. The Civil Surgeon vaccinated me twice on my first visit and filled out the rest of the form I-693 (Medical report and vaccination record). She (the Civil surgeon) handed me the form and indicated that I'd return after a month to complete two more vaccinations. Following the initial visit, my docs were filed for Adjustment of Status. I returned to her office after a month and she gave me the remaining vaccinations. She also gave me another I-693 to submit to the USCIS.
My issue here is; I don't know what address to submit it to. I've held the Medical report for almost three weeks because I don't know if I should send the I-693 to the Chicago Lockbox where I sent the initial documents OR whether I should send it to the National Benefits Center where my case has been transferred. It'd be greatly appreciated if you wonderful lot on here helped me with answers. Thanks in advance.

Hi yes both the I-765 & I-131 are free when sent with the AOS forms, yes I think that you can still send the I-131 at no cost but you have to wait until you get the NOA1 for the I-485 then send the I-131 in with a photo copy of the NOA1 for the I-485. did you send in the I-693 medical form.
Thank you once again for the information. Yes I did send the I-693 medical examination form.
Another question; I'm looking to travel Down Under over Christmas along with my wife, kid and in-laws and I see that the I-131 requests info about the nature of a person's planned trip. Since it's family vacation/holiday, do you think the USCIS would be approve the I-131?
Today's news has me like 😱

Exactly. Stockholm syndrome or something. But I'm not seeking sympathy, I'm just trying to point out how vacuous some of the arguments defending the proposal are, but we're all entitled to our own opinion. My case is pretty simple, if I apply for USC and get approved, GOOD. If they deny it because I received marketplace-based insurance at some point NOT GOOD. There's not much more I can do about that other than to probably limit my investment here and channel somewhere else.
