hi mate, remember you from the london forum. have a look at my timeline, it took a good three weeks to get through from sending it to check being cashed..
Don't worry, i am sure you will be ok.

edit: just read the whole forum and saw that you have had your check cashed, hope the rest of the journey is smooth..

I just gotta say I appreciate your positive attitude. Despite knowing you had some issues, you didn't constantly bellyache in every post with "oh woe is me, I better just quit now and go hang myself". You had concerns, but weren't so needy that you started a dozen threads begging for reassurance. You just marched on toward the finish line like a man to get the answer. You contributed to the forums and helped others along the way. Yay you!

I fly out on June 16th. We are having a church wedding/reception on August 8th, which all my family will be flying out for.
Our invites arrived today. Its getting even more real and exciting
It's a couple months of unemployment for me since I won't be able to work until AOS, but we knew that this would be the case.

My husband says you will be changing iTunes stores when you change country settings. He maintains a UK id and an American id under different email addresses. An example is the Argos app does not show up in the American ITunes Store. If there are country specific apps you have purchased or want to download/update, they may not show when you change stores. A minor thing, but worth a thought.

I would suggest you look through the United Kingdom regional forum. Not one person on there has ever been mean to Corvusheart. Every one has offered advice, insight etc, which a lot of the time was ignored or challenged, because it wasn't what they wanted to hear.
This whole process is an extremely stressful, worrying and tiring process for everyone, some handle it better than others. Those on the UK forum have been extremely respectful of Corvusheart, and to categorise most people as being 'mean' is just wrong. What we have tried to do (especially the more senior members, of which I am not one) is reassure her that everything will be ok, because we stressed out about a multitude of things in our own journeys, & personally I know I will stress out about a lot more along the way.
    Thanks.

The good thing about you being such a worrier is that if we ever get a similar London filer we can point them to your (many) threads.
Relax, and stop worrying about every small step of the Visa, this process must be even more unpleasant for you than it is for the rest of us.

Your hopes are already up. You are engaged to be married. Does that make you happy? Then be happy. You are choosing negative. You find the most remote, ancient details on the internet to perseverate over. Things that nobody finds. But yet you don't read the Visa Journey UK forum daily threads that chit chat about what people take to the embassy, what people got asked, how they know when the visa is issued, what if you forgot something. It's talked about over and over again.
So why ask about denial chances when you have made up your mind that will be the outcome. 300 positive statements will not change your mind. You sabotage your happiness.
List your concerns for the reason he would be denied. What specifically is tormenting you today?

Talk it out. What is so very important that you are desperate to talk to him this minute? Is it so important you can't wait until he gets settled in his hotel? It's a wonder his brain doesn't explode from micro-management.
Maybe you could distract yourself by reading posts about status changes after the interview. How will he be contacted about delivery? How long did it take others? There are current posts you could follow so you are informed and don't have to start a new thread.

Ok update - just got through to DX and after searching for my surname, I was informed that yes, my 'item' (passport) is ready for collection.
So I will be heading in tomorrow to collect it - yay!
I strongly advise everyone who is waiting to be contacted to call the DX office and have them search under your surname. The number I phoned was 0871 562 6666 and I pressed option 2 which i believe is for 'you have received a card notifying you of an attempted delivery'. Of course I hadn't, however there was no other suitable option. I was on hold for about 20 minutes.
    Good luck everyone.

I am an HR manager and I receive so many bad resumes that I sometimes just want to poke myself in the eye! Things that I look for are precise grammar (that tells me that you will be methodical and take pride in your work), being concise with an objective and a work history. I don't care where you went to high school or what your GPA was or what you got in your A-levels etc. I want relevant information about your work history, your successes/achievements/awards in previous positions, your professional affiliations and how you can benefit the company that you are applying to. Don't talk about hobbies - that is a huge turn-off as that tells me that you may not have enough time to apply, to the job. Don't list references - its a waste of space and I won't be obtaining a reference anyway as it is not legal until you sign my form if you are short-listed. Just put "references are available upon request". When I look at a resume, I read the 1st page and look for things that jump out at me that would make me short-list a candidate for an interview. I have too many resumes to read to thoroughly read the whole document. If I like what I see on the 1st page and you capture my attention, then I will usually continue to read the rest of the resume.
Never ever talk about salary. You can negotiate salary when you interview.
Use different fonts, use bold for the parts that are most important, do not list your address. A name and phone number/email is enough. Have a professional email. Usually your first and last name is a good one. You wouldn't believe the email addresses that I see come through my office like hotmama@Hotmail.com or bigmikesgal@yahoo.com etc etc. It instantly leaves the wrong impression with employers!
If you need any more advice, feel free to ask
