  1. We just filed taxes for 2014 and i filled together with my wife. She doesn't even have a EAD yet. Your husband can claim you and that way you will have a bigger refund unless you are in a situation where its better not too. I don't think he could file taxes without mentioning you on the tax forms because you are married. Also just my opinion, H&R block is not at all a good tax service and they have only very generic answers that work for people who are typical residence with normal easy situations, they don't know how to go outside the box. Plus they are super expensive.

  2. Learners permits are good in Oregon for 2 years and than you have one more year of expiration before you would have to retake it. So that's a total of 3 year that you can have a learners permit and renew it without having to take the test.

My wife is facing a weird state with that too. She got a learners permit for 3 months only because the I-94 expires and there is no way of getting a regular 2 year permit without NOA2 letter from AOS or the EAD so now she will have an expired ID for about 2 or 3 months until we are waiting for the EAD and we are hoping she will not have to retake it.

  3. Since you already have a SSN go to the DMV with your I-94 and get an ID. My wife got her learners permit right away because financially it makes more sense but if you just want to get an ID just do that. With your Oregon ID go to a bank and open an account. I don't see why that would not work but who knows. We are actually going to be going and opening an account this week so i will let you know if it worked.

  4. Lots of people do travel on the green card and passport being different name. People on here say that the best way of doing this is to give each document where needed. So like when exiting US and getting on the plane nobody cares about your green card, they wanna see the passport and or visa to allow you to enter the country where you are traveling. In your case UK and the same thing when returning. So, flying to UK you would only show your UK passport everywhere (airport check in and customs in England). Returning to US you would only show your Green Card everywhere. And yes bring your marriage license along. Now the question of which name to book your ticket in is interesting, I would like to know that myself.

  5. 1. There are so many different answers you can find everywhere about this. I searched a lot as well to find the answer, some people say to a civil surgeon some say don't, some people get an RFE and some don't so it is hard to say. USCIS says to just submit that form if your medical was done within a year of filling for AOS and if you have all required vacinations so that is what we went for.

    2. Again a lot of people say yes and a lot say no. When you file together with form I-485 you don't have to write the explanation letter because you qualify by doing the AOS process. I think that is a question for people who file the I-131 separately from the AOS package.

    3. I did the same. Included my 2013 Tax Transcripts because i have not done my taxes yet. Even if i did my taxes it take about 6 weeks for the tax transcripts to post on the IRS website.

    4. This one i am not sure about.

  6. It would have to be now, technically. In Oregon when you apply for your marriage certificate it asks for "Name after marriage" and that is where you would put in your new name. After that when you file AOS you would file with your new name. Otherwise you would have to change your green card and EAD later. I don't know of a better way, there might be one.

By the way Clackamas County Justice Court is a great place, that is where we got married. The judge does a great job and her court room is very nice and private, also its free.

    Congratulations!!!

  7. You can get a passport the same day if you go to the passport agency. Just have to find an agency in your area. In order to get a passport the same day you have to prove that you are traveling within 14 days. So bring the confirmation from the airline and all the rest of the documents. It will be a bit more expensive of course.

Here is the one in DC:

  8. Boiler, you are "spot on" with your post, as obama is not a President "of all the people" just a select few. I CANNOT bring myself to capitalize his name, the worst President in the history of the USA, as time will tell, and people will see WHO this guy obama really is!!!

Glad to be conservative, could not ever agree with what this "thing" has let this country become!

Again, racist... How you can't see that people across the border are humans too just shocks me. Its scary what the world is becoming. Nobody is saying the president is the picture of all good but at least he is doing things to progress humans insted of sending them to war. He has to take executive acctions because politicians are corrupt and don't get anything done. Calling him a "thing" says it all about your post. Sad...

  9. - Fee for AOS if you are between the age of 14 and 78 is $1070

    The link: http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

    - Mailing address if you are a K1 visa holder and if you are sending the package via US Postal Services:

    USCIS
    PO Box 805887
    Chicago, IL 60680-4120

    The link: http://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

I am not sure which 6 packages you are referring to though. I know about 3 packages: AOS, Employment Authorization and Advanced Parole

  10. Yes you can do it yourself. I did it for our paperwork. USCIS does require a specific paragraph to add to the end.

    This is the link:

This is what you have to add to the end of your translation:

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

  11. I had my interview the next day and so are many people i have talked to but on the other side of the scale i read people on here say their oath was a month or two from the interview.

My suggestion would be to do what they ask on the form and don't waste your time on questioning it. That is what i did at least. I brought all the documents asked of me from that sheet and even some extra once but they did not end up asking for most of them.

Yes that is the marriage certificate.

    I wish you luck!

    Influenza

    Thanks a lot.

I am not sure exactly about the list needed but the rule is if you had your medical exam overseas before getting the visa and they said you have all of the required once than you are done if however you did not ask them or you just were not told anything about this in the hospital than if you go to uscis.gov and search for "vaccination requirements" a link will pop up with all the required vaccinations.
