  1. Hello. Filling out the i-129F K1 document. Question is about my fiance's name.

She is Japanese and she writes her name in Kanji characters. HOWEVER, on her Japanese passport her name is written in roman letters just like English. Should I write her name in Kanji or in roman characters.

One other thing. The I-129F PDF form doesn't allow kanji in the name field. I would have to do my best to write her Kanji name after I print the document...

Always, always use her name just like it says in her travel passport. That's where the visa is going to go. If you read up on it that is what you will find.

    So use the English letters.

In the section where it says "If your fiance's native alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write his or her name and address abroad in native the native alphabet"

In this section you should write her info in Japanese. If you can't do it on the online form than print it and write it in with a black pen, it is ok to do so.

  2. Ok so in the my RFE they want a LETTER OF INTENT TO MARRY my fiancé In Bosnia doesn't know English I msg him what needs to be in that letter he took it to lots of ppl no one wants to notarize it I know retarded I wanted to be on the safe side LEGALLY TRANSLATED so what now ?? is it ok for us to send it only with his signature or we need to include a persons name who translated it in it ??

You do not need to go thru all of this. Go to the example Letter of intent on this website, open it and fill in your information, save it to your computer, email it to your fiance and have him/her sign it. Your fiance mails it to you and you mail it back to USCIS. No translations and notarization is necessary. This is how most people do it.

  3. You are now an American citizen, you don't have an Alien registration any longer. Your Fiance don't have one either. Just put your/fiance's full name on each picture.

Your Alien registration number follows you through your whole life. When you filled out the I-129F or I-130 you have to put that info in there and when you get a US passport you also have to fill out that part so yes you do still have you A#.

  4. She does not have a computer at this time, so she will work with our interpreter on the DS-160.

    Thank you for the link.

Another big question: I think she will need a couple of official documents from her oblast center. She lives in Mariupol' which is in the Donetsk Oblast. Is she expected to travel to Donetsk to get these documents???

    That won't happen...

Right, i red that she does not have a computer. Many people in Ukraine don't, i am from there so i know how it is but that is the procedure so l am just mentioning that.

I doubt it. You are thinking of the police certificate which she can apply for in the city where she lives. The document does go thru the oblasty center. So in our oblasty you can apply either in our town or go to the oblasty center. Its up to you. It takes a month to get a police certificate and its valid for a year so keep that in mind.

  5. I also had questions about these fees and found this thread helpful. Just one question I had...

It appears that the K1 Visa fee is paid in the fiancées country (in this case Ukraine), but on the NVC site (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc.html) it says that one of their responsibilities is to "1. Invoice you for your visa application fees". I initially interpreted this as a payment to NVC before everything was sent to the Embassy. Can anyone clarify?

Also, is the "DS-160 fee" the same thing as the K1 Visa fee?

One last question, my fiancée has a minor child that will be coming. Is this visa fee per person? I know the medical fee is per person.

    Thanks all

In Ukraine my fiance will have to go and pay the fee at a bank where they give her a receipt # which she has to enter when she is filling out the DS-160. I have never heard of paying NVC when dealing with a K1 visa. If you are doing a marriage based visa than yes you do have to pay NVC a fee. But it might depend on the country.

Yes DS-160 fee is the same as the K1 visa fee.

Yes i believe that it is per person but i am not sure. Take your time to read about the embassy in your fiances country. That's what i did. Just Google the embassy and they have lot of info but kind of all over the place. At leas in the Ukrainian embassy site.

  6. My wife and I got married 2 months ago on a K1 visa that expires in a week. We are sending the AOS form out today or tomorrow.

    .

Question: My wife has an SSN in her maiden name. We are applying for her AOS (Green Card) and EAD in her married name.

Assuming that we get her EAD approved in a month, but the AOS much later, will she have problems working? Of course we have the marriage certificate as part of the paper trail, but is this enough?

As I understood we could not get her SSN changed until she has legal identification again (and the K1 visa expries very soon). I guess that the EAD is not identification, so she couldn't just change the SSN after getting the EAD - she would have to wait for the AOS to be fully approved.

    Can someone please advise us?

Sorry i don't know the answer to most of your questions but i do know that most people on here went back to the SSN office with their marriage license and that is how they changed their name on the SS card. There is even a step for that in the K1 flow chart. See my attachment below:

  7. At what point in the flow chart should my fiancee begin working on the DS 160? Can our interpreter help her with it? My fiancee does not own a computer.

The DS-160 form asks you for the NVC number. So you do need that before filling it out. Call NVC after you got your NOA2 and get the case number from them if you haven't already done that. Go online and fill it out. You can or someone else can fill the DS-160 out for your fiance but technically your fiance has to digitally sign it at the end of the form. Also once you filed out the form don't forget to schedule a medical appointment.

Here is an example DS-160 (Please copy and paste the link because directly clicking on it doesn't always work):

  8. How is everyone of you doing ? Hope well

My RFE is asking for passport photos ,beneficiary intent to marry , two yr meeting requirement (I sent that with the i129 app) I am so stressed please help I don't wanna do this alone and get another RFE here are my questions ...

Photos : can he take a pic of them and send me I will do them in cvs or Walgreens 2x2 ??

Thats exactly what i did. Have him take a good picture. maybe in the studio. email it to you and Walgreens does the rest. They do a Glossy photo which is the requirements.

Beneficiarys intent to marry here's the prob HE DOESNT SPEAK ENGLISH so he needs it translated and notiriezed ???can he fax that to me ???

I wrote the letter and my fiance signed it. No problem with the English part. don't translate it. It needs to be an original letter with a wet signature so try to figure that out somehow.

Two year meeting requirement in the latter it says EVIDENCE SHOULD INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO does that mean I don't have to send allll like a friend or family member writing a letter of a meeting ?? .. All I have is my eticket for the flight , passport stamped and pictures of us together how many do they want ? Can I just send them the ticket my letter to marry him and pics ??

Yes, that all sound like good evidence. Maybe itinerary if you bough your tickets online.

Am to confused I DONT WANT TO MAKE A MISTAKE PLEASE HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!

  9. Is it really valid for a year?? I got a police certificate this year already because i expected my interview to be earlier. But I was told at the police office that it is valid for only 1 month.

Yes it is valid for one year as far as the consulate in concerned, I don't know why you were told that.

My fiance was told if she wants to pay money it can be done much faster so i was going to say the same thing.

  10. One day I looked that up and I found this, which I saved, even though the fees have been updated:

"The K-1 visa fee is $240.-http://www.state.gov...2/03/187114.htm plus the fee for the medical 145 euro and x-ray 50 euro en whatever vaccinations you need.

The fee for the I-485 is $985.- + $85.- for biometrics.

    Then 2 years later form I-751$505.- + $85.- for biometrics http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

    Then 1 year later citizen form N-400 $595.- + $85.- for biometricshttp://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

    Edited by Sirdaniel42, 26 October 2012 - 06:50 PM."

So there's also this citizen form 3 years later, no?

Yes, but all those other things you Have to pay to stay in the country. You do not have to become a citizen if you don't want to. Lots of people live on Green Card their whole life.

The $240 K1 fee just went up couple months ago to $265

  11. Ok so let me get thsi clear

I-129F $340, plus K1 $265 + Medical exam. When fiance moves to U.S we pay for AOS $1070 and 2 years later Removing of conditions $590???

Those are all the real charges for all this?

Yes, exactly. These are all real fees we all have to pay. (In Ukraine the medical is about $240 but depends on the country)

Please double check all these fees on the USCIS website as you file for each petition because they frequently go up.

  12. whats removing of conditions?

Because your fiance comes here on a K1 visa he or she gets a conditional green card after the Adjustment of Status. Its valid for 2 years.

This is if the processing of your AOS does not take more than 2 years which it mostly does not. After 2 years having the green card you will have to file for removing of conditions and prove again that your relationship is real. After this he or she gets a regular 10 year green card. Hope that makes sense.

    Here is the guide:

  13. Hello, Im kind of confuse right now...

I paid when i sent my I 129F application, so I need to pay extra $265 when my fiancee goes to the embassy??? aand the $1050 once we get to the U.S and we get married??

Yes, that's true. Plus you have to pay when your fiance has the medical.

So, Pay for I-129F In the States, Medical (Cost Depends on the country) in fiances country, K1 ($265) in fiances country. When fiance moves here you pay for AOS ($1070) and 2 years later Removing of conditions ($590 i think). Not cheap.

  14. I would suggest USPS they have new world shipment service (seen today at post office, or it's called pretty similar to what i mentioned), and they will give you tracking number, as soon as letter is in Ukraine your fiancee can receive it at the post office or in mail box, (myself never had problems getting mail via USPS in Ukraine). If the docs are super important you can use DHL or UPS, I know they deliver door to door....

As for Meest, i had years ago packaged, but never mail. No complaints as well.

    Thank you!!!

That's what i am thinking too, to use USPS so that she has to go to the post office to sign for it. I guess the documents are not super important because they can be duplicated easily, like letter from employer, I-134 and so on.

I send packages with Meest all the time but never documents.
