Aldi & James got a reaction from KashaN1 in Affidavit/Letter of Support for Tourist Visa
We have several friends in Indonesia who want to come stay with us and visit the USA. More than one of them have mentioned needing some kind of “letter of support” to help their non-immigrant visa case. I’m really confused about how such a letter would actually improve their chances of getting a visa. Assuming their job is good, family ties strong, and travel history shows other travel and returns home, they might be able to get a visa. Does anyone know about this letter, whether or not it helps their case, and where this belief they need it comes from if not??

Aldi & James reacted to Brainstormer in How to get an appointment on infopass
Hopefully this will help those that are having a hard time scheduling an appointment on infopass

You probably have seen this message "Currently, there are no available appointments. Please check again tomorrow." every time you try to use infopass to get an appointment.  Like you, it was very frustrating because it seems like there just isn't any appointments no matter what hour of the day you try, and even if you do get lucky, the appointment date seems are weeks away.

Here's what I did to get an appointment and hopefully it will help you too.

set up an auto refresh and website change detector on your browser, you can find this add-on/extension to notify you as soon as the webpage changes.  I use chrome and the extensions I added is called SuperAuto Refresh and Visualping.
go to the infopass page where you see the message "Currently, there are no available appointments. Please check again tomorrow."  and set it to auto refresh.  then set Visualping to monitor to check it every minute.  it will notify you with a pop up when the page appears with appointment dates.

I did this while at work, and while I was doing other stuff on my computer, a message popped up and i was able to get an appointment.
couple thing i noticed was, it gave me an appointment that was 2 days from now, which I was very surprised.  but I screwed up and hit back and that appointment date and time was gone.  my guess was someone canceled so there was a spot available but because i was too slow someone else took that spot.  so, make sure you stop the auto refresh as soon as the appointment calendar pops up so it doesn't refresh again.
Another thing I noticed was that for 2 days while I try this, the only time it appeared was in the morning between 8am to 10am Pacific time for the Los Angeles USCIS location.  It didn't appear for the rest of the day while I was working and had it running the whole time.

I need to get Advanced Parole, but the dates didn't work for me, so I still ended up just showing up at USCIS without an appointment.  They didn't seem too happy that I didn't get an appointment but still took me in.  Your mileage may vary depending on where you are, but hopefully this info will help someone who need to get an infopass appointment.

It also seems like it doesn't matter which USCIS location you go to.  At the LA County USCIS, there's 2 lines, one is for those that are within their jurisdiction (they check by zipcode) and another is for others, maybe trying to get an appointment at another location or set two browsers with on autorefresh and try to get whichever appointment is the earlier one..  Good Luck.

2002 was another lifetime ago- especially in government terms. There was no CBP in 2002. There was the INS and Customs, two completely different agencies. Parts of INS (including Border Patrol) joined with Customs to form CBP. Another part of INS became USCIS. Also, 9/11 was very, very recent. Point being it was a completely different situation in 2002.
Regardless, as TBoneTX said, it is your visa that matters. As long as it is valid, you're OK. CBP probably wouldn't know nor care about your NOA2 expiration date any way.

Scam. The background checks have been completed if the visa was issued. No reason for the FBI to be concerned, if they were they would just cancel the visa or catch him at customs. Why leave a note on a door giving him warning they are looking for him? Contact the real FBI and report it.

Aldi & James got a reaction from Lauren and Kevin in Family support proof - Sam-sex K1 - India
My husband and I faced a similar situation as he is from Indonesia...a primarily Muslim country where homosexuals can be dragged from their homes and stoned to death in rural communities.
The big difference for us is that he had no siblings and both his parents were deceased. We met on Facebook almost a year before I requested the K-1. He tried to come to the USA to meet me, but without strong family or financial ties to Indonesia he was denied a Visa, so I flew to Indonesia a month or two later and stayed for one week. I started filling out the paperwork for the K-1 after I returned in December. Then, I went back to Indonesia for his K-1 interview in the following May, staying another week.
What we submitted for "evidence" of the relationship...which is really all the visa application requires...was copies of my plane tickets there the first time, numerous photos of us together, and a letter from each of us indicating our intent to marry. I think I had added him to my credit card - mostly because he didn't have one and I knew he'd need it to book travel back to the US - so I included a copy of the credit card statement with both our names.
The only awkward issue was the front security guard who was leery about letting me accompany him. My husband is quite a bit younger than me and she seemed confused by what I was doing there. She asked how old he was - I said 25. Then, she asked why I was accompanying him. Implying that since I wasn't a parent, I had no business there. I explained that I was the citizen who petitioned for his visa. She let me in.
The K-1 was really quite easy to get. The interviewer, a man, was very kind and smiling throughout the interview process. My husband was super-nervous because his previous attempts to get a tourist visa to visit me in the US had been denied, so he had bad feelings with the embassy overall. I remained silent as this was not for me...and, in fact, asked if I could be in the room during the interview as I didn't want to appear to be coaching. We were holding hands, smiling at each other, and behaving like a typical couple in love. The questions were basics like what he might do for work and where he would live. My husband also didn't have great English skills, so the interviewer asked him a number of questions in Bahasa Indonesian. The interviewer congratulated us and gave us the good news that the visa would be approved, but took three days to process, so we'd have to come back the following week for it (this was on a Thursday or Friday). My husband was so happy and excited, he invited the guy to the wedding...which I thought was hysterical.
Anyway, it all turned out fine and we didn't need a lot more than photos and our own testimony to support our story. I'm sure you'll be fine. The interviewer is an American citizen working for the Department of State and they have strict non-discrimination policies about these things. I would be shocked if you were required to supply additional supporting materials just because you're marrying someone of the same-sex.

If they did not submit their letters of intent, it is not the fault of the service center. Your political rant is not necessary.

USCIS gets more money from K1. Of course they do it quicker.

Well, with a k1 you don't have greencard in hand, you're just allowed to get into the country to get married.
You also can't work right away. They can still send you home after that by not approving your AOS.

    Hi
I dont know this is the right place to ask about this, but since its related to the K1 visa, im posting here.
If the mods think its not the right place for this topic, please, change it to another thread!
Im from Brazil and my fiance is from NC. We are together since 2010,and now that DOMA dont exist, he sent the I-129F package to the USCIS.
I found out he has cheated on me, and I no longer want to be with him,and asked him to withdraw the petition, but he says he's always busy.
Can I call USCIS and withdraw it,being the beneficiary?
    Thanks in advance
