SO here's an interesting turn of events - just got notice I need to return my Green Card as there is incorrect info - I'll assume that the expiry date is wrong and that it should be from the date of my original admission to the USA back in December 2014, so should expire 2024??
Anyway, I'm supposed to be receiving a postage paid envelop with instructions and to mail it back within 20 days of receiving the request to return. Sheesh, what a gong show!
Here's a link to the recall if anyone else is interested. Luckily I don't need to travel anywhere out of country in the near future (barring emergencies) so really not a big deal, other than being a pain in the butt!

    Good luck to all.
    Peace.

Update - just had a lovely conversation with a fellow from Service Canada, after calling to follow up to make sure they received my faxed questionnaire. He was super friendly, and explained the whole process.
We did a report for my first 3 weeks, where he basically said if I wasn't in the process of travelling and moving, would I have been ready and able to work, and I said yes. He said good.
I indicated I have already been making calls and talking to people about work in the area, but that I was waiting for movers to come before I considered myself fully available to work. He said this was fine.
The person handling my claim was away today, but he said I could expect some paperwork in the next week or so.
Always shocked and a very nice surprise to get a friendly helpful government clerk!
    Peace.

I had same experience on Wednesday, bmc - my lawyer said I wouldn't need hubby's birth certificate or his divorce papers, but they asked for exactly those.
Thankfully I had them both. Interviewer asked a couple of questions, but nothing I couldn't answer.
The joys of the second time around or something?????
I would also recommend to over prepare for sure....................
    Peace.

Well I managed to (kinda) stay away from the CEAC portal during the 5 days my husband was here but now he is on his way back home and I'm back to checking. I got on with fingers crossed that something had changed, but it hasn't .
    *deep sigh*
My priority date is 2 days after yours so I really hope you get your CC soon as i'm ready to take advantage of some of these happy emoticons!

Majority of the USA doesn't give two hoots about the immigration journey. Most just assume that because you're married, the spouse moves here and is a US citizen as well. I cannot tell you how many times people think I'm a US citizen even though I say I just have a green card. They don't understand what that even means.
If writing the letter makes you feel better, do it, but don't expect anything to change.
DACA should have been implemented, but it should not have been given priority over all other visa types. JMO.

    Some quick feed back for anyone who will attend their medical with Dr Cheema in Surrey;
Here's the contact information on this page http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Canada&cty=Montreal
I had an appointment booked in a week from contact! wow.
My appt was at 1000, and arriving at 930 didn't get me in any quicker, although they did take my $280 right at 1000 . In fact it was 1030 before I was called in. The nurse did a quick height and weight. Then into the room I went, and with a brief maybe 2 minute wait, the doc arrived. He was very professional and pleasant. He had me do an eye chart, both with and without glasses on He also stated it didn't matter, when I fumbled and squinted like a blind woman to see the letters without my glasses on.
Into the room again, he asked me questions: do I take any meds, do I have any cancer, any sexually transmitted diseases, any surgical history, a few others I think but I forget now.. then asked if I ever had a DUI. (Now some of you gals might relate, but I was still in 'medical question line' and so I said 'do you mean an IUD?? Sure I have an IUD... LOL. He says, no, a DUI... OH said I.. no DUI ) Here is where my case is just a bit unusual in that my occupation (working in an ICU) had perhaps exposed me to TB back in the 90's, and although I never had it, they prophylactically treated me with meds for 9 months to ensure I wouldn't get it. So I gave him my documentation and he filled out the relevant paperwork on that.
So up onto the table, and the nurse comes in saying it's required she be here for this part. He took a quick peer into my eyes, a quick auscultation of my heart and lungs. I was told to lay down and just undo my pant button and lift my shirt just above my belly button, and he had a quick palpation of my abdomen.
So when the exam was done, he wished me luck, and assured me the issue I had with ~TB exposure wouldn't be a problem. The front desk provided me with paperwork to head off to the next location 12 blocks north, for xray and bloodwork, and stated to return the next day after 430 to pick up 'part of the results', as the office would directly forward my TB related documentation to the Consulate themselves. (still makes me nervous )
Anyways, off to the next stop, where I headed up to the 2nd floor for bloodwork, as that was the room number circled on my paperwork. I took a ticket, number 150, and they were on 135... so I asked her how long her estimate was and she said an hour. I waited the hour and a bit, the one vial was drawn quickly, and I asked about the xray. Well, duh! That is downstairs on the main floor of the medical center! I should have thought to go downstairs and have the xray done while waiting for the lab appt!! Anyways, that wait was about an hour also.
I returned to Dr Cheema's office the next day around 5 and got the package with a disc and my vaccination information, signed that I picked it up, and she showed me the envelope that they're sending directly to the Consulate. They stated to keep my package with me at the POE. I asked whether I needed it at the interview, and she sounded as if it wasn't required, but I'm definitely taking it just in case!
My uncle drove me to the appts/ during all those stages and farted around with whatever he could to stay busy while waiting for me. I took him and my aunt out for supper the next evening to thank them for letting me stay and driving me around

NLR _ Hahaha, that made me laugh.
We have 2 acres of property so I expect I'll be busy building the garden - hubby's been waiting till I get there so we can do stuff like that together. He bought the house for us in 2012, and hasn't really done too much with it, again waiting till I'm there and we can make such decisions together. I can hardly wait.
I think I may do some volunteering as well, but we'll see how it goes. I fully intend to get work of some kind after a few months, but will use EI to help me bridge the gap during my 'adjustment' period.
If it wasn't for VJ, I never would have known I was even eligible. So much great info on this site!!
    Peace all.

I agree NLR - September was kind of more the timeline I had in mind. Nevertheless, it's nice to think positive. I know I'll be there before year end, and that works for me, even though I'd like it to be sooner.
But after 5 and a half years, another few months really isn't a big deal. At least, that's what I keep telling my self. LOL
    Peace.

Thanks Mrs thb - I wish you best of luck on your journey and that you will be with your loved one soon. And yes, still floating now that the worst is over. The thing that's struck me most is that now my journey is 'real' again - I haven't seen my husband for 6 months and this whole process was making the whole marriage and process this abstract, surreal thing that was going on somewhere outside of my realm of existence. Nice to have it right back in front of me again! Let the freaking out begin!! LOL
    Cheers!

Waste of time guys. TSC has cut their I-129f time in half since a year ago. They are doing well. And fiancés are getting much faster service than folks with spouses and babies they are separated from. If any resources need shifting, it is not for K1s who are within the processing time goal.

    Sylea,
My sentiments exactly. I'm not getting this adjudicating process either. I'm also not getting which service centers USCIS decides to process our file. Does anyone understand USCIS?
Let's all hope NVC process is loads better.
    Cheers to all November filers!!!
