Yes, 3 years minus 90 days from the "residence since" date on the GC is the earliest he can apply.

Hey Guys, so I had my interview today and I passed, the questions were pretty easy I got the first 6 questions right so she never asked the rest of them. However my officer was very mean and rude for no reason and maybe I am being too sensitive, when she came to ask the last questions on your application about if you were ever part of terrorist group or arrested and all that, she made a comment like" are you planning to go shoot gay people in night clubs?" referring to the shooting in orlando. I know they have to ask those question but that one wasn't in the application!! and just the way she was talking to me and how she said it didn't feel right. then at the end she asked why I'm not changing my last name why I'm keeping my Muslim last name? and if I'm planning to divorce my husband after i get my citizenship, I explained to her it's not something we do in my country and I love my husband, I'm not going anywhere I just would like to keep something from home, so she was like well u're in america now and asked me if I really want my citizenship saying that I need to forget about my home and my Egyptian passport once I become american. so I felt pressured and I said okay I will change it. I know I passed and I should be happy but this interview just made me feel horrible and made me think if I should call and see if they can keep my name or is it too late. changing my name wasn't something i wanted to do and my husband understand. you think I should call and see if I can or just try to change it back when its all done. I just don't won't to risk delaying it even more since we are leaving over seas soon.

At the interview you'll go over your application and when you get to the question about arrests you'll need to disclose this. You should probably tell your interviewer as soon as you begin.
There are no guarantees, but in all likelihood, the result of your interview will be that a decision cannot be made. You'll be sent a letter asking you to provide the results of the case before a decision is reached. If you are convicted, in all likelihood your naturalization application will be denied. Your green card should not be affected and you should be able to reapply when the statutory period (3 years or 5 years depending on how you applied) has passed.
The trickier bit is that they usually give you 1 month to respond. So you need to tell your interviewer that you need an extension of the case isn't set to be heard until August. Or you can try to get it moved up. You also have the choose to withdraw your application at the interview or before then.
All that being said, there are people who have passed the interview with convictions on their records even when those convictions were within the statutory period. Here is one such case: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/578108-n-400-with-a-dui-on-record/
It's not a good situation to be in.
Be careful and take some solace in the fact that you weren't hurt and that your green card won't be affected.

I pass the interview on June 9 in El Paso. What a relief
    Questions:
    What is freedom of religion?
How many US Senators are there?
When must all men register for the Selective Service
    When was the Constitution written?
What ocean is on the east coast of the US?
Name one state that borders Canada.
    I don't remember sentences.
My Oath ceremony most likely will be on the July 22 in El Paso . I saw their schedule

There are some cases like yours in recent months; it's not too uncommon and shouldn't be a problem. But you may have to go through a more rigorous interview. Because you'll essentially be removing conditions and applying for naturalization simultaneously, make sure that your spouse is with you on the day of the interview. This is not required for naturalization, but may be required for the ROC part, which will have to be adjudicated at the same time.
Not everyone in your situation has to do this, but a few recent applicants had unfortunate experiences because their spouses were not present at the naturalization interview. Again, in many cases, they don't ask to see the spouse, but better avoid potential delays and have your spouse available that day.
For others who have already removed conditions, your spouse is not required to attend and won't be let into the interview room.

    Well folks. Its a wrap.

Got there at about 8am and was called in at 8.15am. The officer first started with my I-751 extreme hardship waiver. I was fretting about that but he asked very simple questions on it. Just about my prior marriage and whether I was circumventing the NTA I received by filing extreme hardship waiver. (I had been denied in 2011 and received an NTA) I told him I filed it based on the facts in the file and I was within my rights to file a hardship waiver if I have enough evidence and anytime before my NTA is filed in court. The NTA was never filed. He smiled and said that was true. He then said it looks good and we moved to the N400. The questions he asked were:

Who is the vice president of the United states

What French territory did the US acquire from France

Who is the current speaker of the house

Name one right only afforded to US citizens only

What is the rule of law

We elect senators for how long?

I was asked” What country is North of the US”…and he asked me to write” Canada is north of the united states.

I signed a few documents there and said I was recommended for approval and will get oath notice in two to three weeks.

I simply cant stop pinching myself.

Did that just happen? I thought I-751 Extereme Hardship waivers were never approved. I guess its true what they say about faith the size of a mustard.

The best way to save time was to apply for a replacement card (form i-90) at no cost when you first saw the error. Anyway, at this point it's best to make an INFOpass appointment at a local office and talk to them about their so called resolved thing.
It will definitely take lots of months to get a new card, if you need to travel soon, you can have an i-551 stamp on your passport from a local uscis office.

My wife passed her test this morning! My wife appeared to have one of the more serious looking interviewers but he didn't give her any trouble. He only asked her 5 questions...
What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?
Who is the governor of your State now?
What movement tried to end racial discrimination?
Where is the Statue of Liberty?
    Name two national U.S. holidays?
She had to speak the following sentence:
Who lives in the White House?
Then she responded "The President and his family lives in the White House"...
    Then he asked to write:
The President lives in the White House.
Overall it was a fairly painless operation. We arrive 35 minutes before her scheduled time, but they made us wait 5 minutes before we were allowed to check her in. After checking in, we maybe waited about 20 minutes before the interviewer called our number. My wife was in the back interview area for about 25-30 minutes.
She was very happy when she came out to me waiting. We can't believe it's almost over!
Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for her to take the Oath. Have you heard anything yet Rogperdiaz or Ryna?

Not all, but some USPS locations do require an appointment. And for those that do, next available appt. may be months away, so it's always best to check ahead. You can call them directly or you can check Travel.state.gov website and navigate to "Where to apply". After entering your zip code, all nearby locations will be displayed where you can see whether or not they require an appointment.

Just wanted to update this in case it might help anyone in the future:
After I received the "in line for oath" status update (4/23), I called USCIS to ask why my son had to go to an oath ceremony when he is only 9.
They opened a SERVICE REQUEST to the field office directly (4/26) and then I got a letter in the mail from the field office (4/30) to say that he does NOT have to attend the ceremony and they will just send the certificate by registered mail!
I received the Certificate of Citizenship today (5/11).
Note - they never updated my case status or told me the certificate was in production or that my case had completed processing. It still shows "in line for oath ceremony" even today and I have the certificate in hand!

    Here is my interview details.
My interview was scheduled today at 12:35 PM. I arrived at 12:00 PM it took just 3 minutes to pass checkpoint and check-in.
I surrendered my interview letter to Window 1 and was patiently waiting for my name to be called.
They called my name at 12:45. The immigration officer (white, male in his 50s) walk me to his room. I assume he wasn't just an immigration officer but he was a supervisor because 1 guy knocked the door and gave 1 N400 case for his review.
I spent around 30 minutes in his room and most of the time he was reviewing this application.
I did not swear to tell the truth (he didn't ask me for). It took for him just 10 minutes to ask me NO/YES questions (from Part 11 "Additional Information" of my N400 application) he confirmed that I still work at the company mentioned in my application confirmed my current address, confirmed my previous addresses, confirmed my cell phone number (I said my number was changed and he wrote down my new number), confirmed that I'm still single and never married, confirmed that I do not have any children.
I checked Name Change and he said San Jose office do not provide such service and I asked him to cross out this selection.
The only document he asked was my Green Card.
He did not ask for my foreign passport, my CA driver's license did not ask about trips abroad did not ask for my 2015 Tax Returns.
Civic questions were (exactly in the order he asked):
    1. What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance (My answer was to the United States, to the flag)
    2. Who vetoes Bills (The President)
    3. What countries did US fight with during World War II (Japan, Italy, Germany)
    4. What is an Amendment (a change to the Constitution)
    5. What is the supreme law of the land (Constitution)
    6. What is the capital of California (Sacramento)
I don't remember the sentence he asked me to write as a part of English test. I wrote it and said: "sorry my handwriting is terrible" (it really is).
Then he showed me Part 17 "Oath of Allegiance" and asked do I want to sign it? I said YES I DO then he asked again: "are you sure want to sign this?" I replied right away and said YES and I signed.
Then he gave me N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results) and 2 boxes were checked (I passed Civics and English Test and I have been recommended for Approval).
Then he put a HUGE blue stamp on the first page of my N400 application with APPROVED word on the stamp.
The he asked do I want to take part in Oath Ceremony on June 16, 2016. I said YES.
He started typing something and said ok we are done and walked me back to the entrance/exit door and asked to wait outside for Invitation for Naturalization Oath Ceremony.
I had been waiting for almost 40 minutes in the lobby and another IO gave me N-445 Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony with date, time and location of Oath Ceremony.
My Oath will be on June 16, 2016

    Updated myself.

    Well folks.

Thank you all for the good luck wishes.

I had my interview this morning and I was recommended for approval.

My appointment was for 8:30 at the new USCIS office on Gears Road in north Houston. I walked into the building at 8:10, went through a security checkpoint, and turned in my interview letter at the front desk. There was no line, and I was asked to wait in one of two waiting areas in a large open room. One waiting area was for naturalization interviews and the other was for infopass appointments. Every now and then, a number would be called, and someone in the Infopass area would be told to go to one of the windows around the room. The naturalization interviewees were called by name and told to go to a door where an officer was waiting. I waited for about an hour (so about 40 minutes after my appointment time) before my name was called. My interviewer met me at the door, introduced herself, and chatted while we walked back to her office. By any measure, she was friendly, but by USCIS standards, she was positively bubbly. When we got to her office, she asked me to sit down and give her my green card, passport, and driver’s license. She then asked me to stand so she could place me under oath.

We started with the testing portion of the interview. She asked me the following six questions:
    - What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?
    - How many amendments does the Constitution have?
    - What territory did the United States buy from France in 1803?
    - What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now?
    - Why did the colonists fight the British?
    - What is the highest court in the United States?
She then said, “This is going to be very elementary for you” and moved to the language test.
She asked me to read: “What country is north of the United States?”
She asked me to write “Canada is north of the United States”

We went through the application page by page. She went over my legal name and had some questions as to what my birth name was (I had a translated copy of my birth certificate with me and she took this). We went over all the biographic information and she double-checked my name change request. I told her at the start that I had another trip to add to my list (taken after the application was sent). I had printed this correction out for her and she took the new sheet and added it to my application. Going through the rest of the application, she specifically asked whether my parents were US citizens (no), whether I was currently a member of any organizations other than those listed (no), whether I had any citations within the last 5 years other than those listed (no; she didn’t seem to care about the older ones), and whether I had ever been in the military (no). Other than those specific questions, she seemed to be picking yes/no questions at random (or maybe just the ones she was interested in asking); she didn’t ask all of them. She did not ask me for any additional documentation. She asked me if I understood the oath and then asked me to sign my application in two places.

After that, she printed out three sheets of paper. The first two were for the name change and were identical. She asked me to sign both with my current name and reminded me that my name would not legally change until the ceremony. The third sheet of paper had my biographical information on it and was stapled to a small ziplock bag with my photos in it (that’s how I had attached the photos to the application). She asked me to check the information, but I looked at it and said, “My name is not Maria and I’m not from El Salvador”; she had attached the photos to the wrong piece of paper. She laughed, corrected this and gave me the right paper to check.

At this point she told me that everything looked good and she gave me the N-652 form stating that I had passed the English and civics tests and that my application was recommended for approval. She said that I should get an oath letter in the mail and that it was important to show up at the time indicated on the letter because it takes hours to get everyone checked in. She said that they were not having people wait for letters today (which I took to mean that they sometimes do on other days). She said that I would mostly likely be scheduled for the June 22nd ceremony, but that if not, then I would be scheduled for the July 27th ceremony.

The interview took about 30 minutes.

She walked me out to the waiting room and told me she would call me when she was done making copies of my passports (2), green card, and driver’s license. I waited for about 5 minutes before she called me back to the door, handed my documents, and told me to have a nice day.

Not everyone drives, but I think it's a good idea to get a DL, or if you can't drive, a State ID card.
Maybe you're carrying around your GC everywhere now, but that won't be the case after you're naturalized.
Now for your questions; they use the ID for two reasons; proof of identity and proof of residency. Remember that you have to reside in the state in which you apply for 3 months prior to applying.
You'll have your passport and GC, so you'll be OK as far as identity goes, but take something that shows your residence; a lease, an employment letter, something like that.

Don't beat yourself up. Naturalization is a long complicated process that puts you and your wife under a lot of pressure. It's an annoying situation, but overall things went well.
It's fixable, in serval difference ways, some of which are more of a hassle... but it's fixable. So just try to fix it and don't stress too much.

There are quite a few posts on here about people being forced to do legal name changes in this exact situation.
So USCIS does have a problem with this at the point of naturalization. They don't apply this "rule" consistently, but what's new about that?
I wouldn't go by what's on EADs and Green Cards. The name on my green card doesn't match my passport or birth certificate and I have no name change document or marriage certificate to explain that. I just used a shortened name and they were fine with it. That's quite common for people from my part of the world, but I'm sure that at the interview, they'll use the name on my birth certificate, which I entered as my legal name.
But, I think you're arguing about what they're supposed to do. I agree with you. But it's not what they actually do in many cases.

JimmyHou reacted to f1660114 in applying U.S passport with middle initial only?
There is at least one passport that I have ever seen does not have middle name on that, just first and last, even though their CON has full name on it. So I strongly believe that the passport folks only care about the first and last name; middle name or second first name can be let off upon your request by not filling out them into the passport application.
