  2. I had my interview yesterday afternoon. I arrived about 20 minutes before my interview like the letter suggested. I noticed there was a line in front of the building, so i got close and asked and apparently we were all scheduled for our citizenship interview for the same time. It was about 25 of us in the line, we went through the security TSA style check in, then had our picture and biometrics taken as proof that you attended the interview.

After that, i was given a ticket and asked to wait with everyone else in a waiting room. I waited for about 25 minutes before the officer called my name. One thing i noticed was that, it seems the order with which we were being taken in was already assigned to the officer, and was not based on how early you got into the line. Instead you were being called based on how quickly the officer finished the previous interview.

Anyway, we made small talk as the officer walked me to her office. She was very professional, and stoic. She swore me in, asked for my greencard (which was the only document she asked for) and we took the civics and history test:

       - What Territory did the US purchase from France?

       - How long do we elect a president for?

       - Who resided in America before Europeans?

       - What was the main concern of the US during the Cold War?

       - What was the reason Colonists came to America?

She typed my responses. We did the reading and writing part. Then we went over the yes/no questions. I had 3 speeding tickets from 2018, which i got dismissed after deferred disposition but i mentioned them on my application as was advised here. But because i had basically responded yes to the citation, found guilty, and deferred disposition questions, she said the system was showing it like i had 15 tickets. So she deleted them and told me i didn't even have to include them at all.

After that, she confirmed some of my other responses on my application. Then she told me i was getting approved and congratulated me. There were some uncomfortable long pauses in there, as she read through my application and the room was eerily quiet. She circled approved on a sheet of paper that was attached to my whole immigration file that they had. Then she started giving me information on the ceremony that she would try to get me in for Friday. As we were having that conversation, another officer walked in and said the cutoff time for the ceremony for this friday was 3:30. But he said the next one will be in February as well, possibly in two weeks and on a Friday. She told me not to get in trouble before my ceremony and then walked me out to the exit. I walked to my car, checked my status on the USCIS website and it already updated to "My Oath Ceremony will be Scheduled"

any preferences on USC spouse and newborn child accompanying for interview?

Based on what i've been reading by other interviewers the last couple months, i don't think they'll allow your spouse and child to even enter the building. Sure you can bring them along for moral support, and they can explore San Antonio while you go in for the interview haha.

    Good luck on the interview!

Hey Folks... long story short: I was approved and by the time I had exited the office and was in my car, the system was already changed to "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled." .

Long story: I live in the other side of the city from the USCIS office and my interview was scheduled for 840 in the morning. However! I arrived there at 720 😀 as I knew from my normal pre-covid morning commute up the beltway to my workplace, arrival time could be unpredictable if I had decided to leave home any later than I did. No biggy, I just sat in my car, people watched and looked at emails until closer to 8am.

I went to the front door and the guard standing outside was checking interview slips before letting folks into the building. Inside there were maybe 30-40 people. Most were there with spouses and / or lawyers. Very few of us were by ourselves and I will assume that all us single folks were there for our N400 interviews.

At check in they give you a number Pxx or Kxx and tell you to wait until you hear your number being called.  Masks were mandatory.  I was dressed in business casual. Some folks were there in t-shirts and jeans.

840 comes around; nothing. I'm not sweating it - it took 30 mins past my AOS interview to be called so I was expecting a delay. But, it is now 920 and people who had come in after me were being called and I started to wonder if maybe I missed my number being called. By now, the office was really buzzing with more people coming in.

Finally at 940 I heard my number. The officer was all apologetic about the delay and mentioned that I was to be her second interview and her previous one did not go as planned hence the delay to seeing me. I followed her to her office where she asked me to swear under oath that everything, I was about to say was the truth.  She took my fingerprints and a picture. And gave me a little bit of hard time about how long it took for me to apply for my GC (married 12 years before applying for AOS in 2017). She really wanted to know the entire story :)

Anyway, we went through the civics test

    1.    What is the economic system in the United States?

Then…the computer system went down. Would you believe it…She was so apologetic, explaining that the system would not allow her to save my answer. Then the system shut down completely and she called someone to come help. From their discussions, it was suggested that I could be there a long time and every thing might have to be done by hand and uploaded to the system after the end of the day…I felt real bad for her.

Eventually…maybe 10-15 minutes later, the system was back up and we were able to continue.

    2.    Where is the Statue of Liberty located?
    3.    If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
    4.    Who is the Governor of your State now?
    5.    What are the two major political parties in the United States?
    6.    What is the name of the Speaker of the House of Representatives now?

    Reading: Who votes for Congress
Writing: The people votes for Congress

Next was the yes / no questions from your N400. This is a chance to update anything was submitted wrongly. I was asked about my citations (speeding tickets in 2003 and 2016) and whether I had received any since submitting my application. At the end she said she was approving me for naturalization however she warned me that I was not yet an US Citizen and I should not state that I was until after the oath. She also mentioned that I should make sure that I do not receive any citations between now and the oath as they would pull me out of the oath ceremony if there were any outstanding legal matters.

Overall despite the hiccups with the system which caused some nerves in me, the experience was pleasant.

    Congratulations!

Is anyone having issues while uploading utility bill pdf? I got an error saying format is not correct even though file is in pdf format and is below 350kb.

If you're downloading it directly from the utility company's website, it might be downloading as an online pdf which you can't upload. You can try snipping it, and uploading as a jpeg if it's not more than one page

    Hello Everyone!

My husband and I will be filing his N400 soon. We submitted his i751 back in May 2020 but are still waiting. I've seen suggestions to submit a cover letter explaining and requesting the two to be adjudicated together.

Does anyone have an example of a cover letter they sent for an online N-400 application with a pending i751 that they could share?

With the online filing, did you list all the documents you submitted in the cover letter? Did you include file names? (We are new to the online filing system)

    Thanks so much!

A cover letter is not necessary. The cases will be adjudicated together anyways. Just submit as soon as you're eligible. Save the file as the name of the document rather than a randomly generated name

My case status just changed  USCIS. Look like they schedule an interview for me. But I was unable to see the notice even on the Documents tab.

    It keep giving me error:

    {"data":null,"error":{"developerMessage":null,"userMessage":null}}

Does anyone know what this mean?

    Filed May 26 2020

It looks like the system was trying to upload something and it had an error. I'd give it a couple hours and try again

N-400 Timeline so far. Today my window opened for early filing! I submitted my application N-400, received NOA (2 minutes after submitting) then 5 minutes later received another NOA that they would reuse biometrics and case updated to being actively reviewed. Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes! I just filed today, and i have the exact same thing happen as well. Biometrics and actively reviewed within 5 minutes 😬
