Nobody knows ahead. You may be approved on the spot with same day oath ceremony. Or USCIS would need time to decide.

My wife had her interview this morning in the Tampa, FL field office. Total time there was about an hour, but she went in 30 minutes prior to her scheduled interview time. She said they went over a few tax forms, which were the ones we submitted during the application process, just to verify. She then answered the questions that were asked and had to read a sentence and write the answer. She is from Canada and English is her native language. They told her she had passed and that they scheduled her for the oath ceremony tomorrow, 10/31. Being last minute, we want the kids to go to the ceremony, so she asked if they could schedule it for the next available one, which they said they would do in about 2-3 weeks.

All in all, everything went mostly smoothly from when we first started this back in 2010 to get her Greencard. Good luck to everyone in their remaining journey!

This morning I got an update in my USCIS account. They have scheduled my oath ceremony for Nov. 14. I am so excited I can’t wait. I’m finally one step closer to becoming a US citizen. God luck to everyone of us.

    Update:

Had my citizenship interview yesterday at San Francisco field office at 1:55pm. Everything went well. Passed the civics test. Officer only asked me 6 civic questions. I was told by the officer that Ceremony is going to be on Monday 10/30 at 11am and I have to wait outside after my interview for the Ceremony letter. However, USCIS system was down that afternoon they could not print or probably couldn’t place us for Oath schedule on their system so we were just told to wait for the mail from USCIS for the Oath Ceremony schedule. A little bit disappointed but still happy that I am almost done with my immigration journey. My only concern at the moment is I have an upcoming international travel 1st week of December. So I just hope I would get my Oath schedule soon so I can apply for a same day passport ASAP.

Current status says: Oath Ceremony will be scheduled.

Well, today was the citizenship interview at the Centennial Field Office (Denver). Since the I-751 had not been approved yet, they did a joint interview. I went with hubs and took our young son just in case they needed to talk to me, but they didn't. We made the error of stopping at Starbucks on our way to the interview and I was forced to down the whole coffee in the parking lot since you aren't allowed to bring food or drink inside. 🤢 We passed through security and had to give them his interview letter at the desk in the waiting room. We arrived the recommended 30 minutes early for the appointment and they were about 20 minutes late. The whole appointment took about 20 minutes from when they called him back, so we were there for over an hour. Officer approved both the I-751 and the citizenship application. Hubs was told to look for the oath ceremony scheduling in about a week in our mail, but we were notified the oath ceremony had been scheduled online about two hours later. Oath Ceremony will be November 7th at 11am at a library in Colorado Springs! Hubby is excited and I'm so proud of him. Almost done!!!

My wife and I applied for her naturalization July 5. Her interview was on September 21 which she aced with flying colors.

HereOath Ceremony is now scheduled for November 9, Veteran's Day.

I'm so proud of her and how hard she worked to get here.

Thank you to all of the VJ community for support though this crazy, frustrating process, it's all worth it now.

    I can't believe it.

I applied from NYC on JULY 20TH.

Today SEPT 20TH I received my interview notice that is scheduled for OCTOBER 25TH.

This was extremely fast, considering everyone told me NYC was on average slower.

    Nice!

    Wish me luck 😬

If you didn’t have your non-refundable tickets, I’d stay at the hotel in Philadelphia and enjoy a little vacation. But I completely understand when you spend thousands of $ and can’t exchange tickets:( .
Good luck at your interview! Your case is moving quite quickly!!!

    Hello,
I am pretty sure they won’t be keeping your original documents, I would bring my original cert of naturalization and a color copy of it just in case.
Your case is moving so fast, congrats!

Here's our latest update as from this morning...

We submitted our applications online on 07/09/2023.
We received a receipt notice on 07/09/2023.
We received notice that our biometrics appointment was scheduled on 07/14/2023.
Our biometrics appointment was on 08/02/2023.

This morning we received a notice that our Interviews are scheduled at the Philadelphia office. Unfortunately, they scheduled my wife and I 2 days apart on 24 & 26 October. This is not ideal because we have a 3 hour trip one way to get to Philly. On top of this the dates fall over an international trip we booked a few months ago and we can neither change nor get a refund for our family's tickets.

I called USCIS customer service this morning and they've cancelled our appointments and put us back into the scheduling line. The agent said we should expect our interviews to be scheduled in November or December.

It sucks that we have to do this but it's our only option right now.

    Update from me.
My interview was at 11:15 this morning. It took no more than 15 minutes. The office in Indianapolis apparently holds oath ceremonies daily at 2:30, so I stayed for lunch in Indy, and attended a short ceremony. CErtificate of naturalization in hand:)
Filed on July 9., so just over 6 weeks.
    Good luck everyone!

Filed back on July 16th, got an interview date notice for Aug 21st the next day (July 17th). Just did the N-400 interview and got recommended for approval. Officer waived the I-751 ROC interview with my spouse and approved it, so just waiting on oath ceremony date!

Good luck! 5 years should be straightforward, plus you probably fall in one of the safest buckets when it comes to suspicion of fraud! (Anecdotally, my wife and I interviewed on the same day, same ethnicity and country of origin, and she got out in 10 mins and I in 30. My IO was nice but very thorough, hers was just super nice).

If you ever owe money to the IRS, even if you pay it off immediately (no payment plan), bring the account transcript for the current year showing you have no balance due. If you have a payment plan, bring the payment plan. Apart from that.. any moving traffic violation, bring evidence of payment just in case, and yeah ... if you're good with the questions, you should be good to go!

@TBoneTX can tell you that his wife passed in six straight question after sweating over learning the questions - and my wife also passed in six after initially getting all the politicians' names mixed up (in practice they seem to go for the easier ones - I get 'who is the president right now' - but she was ready to answer who's the Speaker of the House and our US Rep just in case).
