  1. broken hearted that we were so close to buying a home we really loved and now we can't even stay at this place because our lease is up tomorrow and we're too late to renew it and i have no idea where we're gonna be on sunday. some hotel/motel/something.

i don't have the time to pursue litigation. i'm going back to singapore in 10 days. i would not burden jonas with it all by himself.

  2. If I have time later I'll try to figure it out.....

you'll be able to figure it out. its not too hard, just a process of elimination.

but partiv, i don't blame you for being confused because the question isn't written very well...

I got confused just reading that, lol. I basically will continue doing the same job, I just get more money for it now. :)

yay $$! are you guys going to celebrate?

  3. i guess that silly math question from singapore has gone viral...the sentence structure is horrific, i'm so embarrassed for anyone to think that's the norm in singapore test questions (it's really not, depending on the school you're in).

Guys, I got promoted today! :) Happy Friday!

I'm feeling super fat today, which makes no sense because I haven't gained any weight recently... It think it's a Netflix/pajamas kind of day. :D

    omg congrats!!

  4. Can you imagine if your immigration paperwork was done with this kind of attention to detail?

2- I highly recommend San Francisco bay dark roast from Costco's website. It's cheap and good.

i was reading a thread on another forum of people hoping to close in april and one of them said the first thing they did was send their loan officer a big bouquet of flowers and a thank you note for all the hard work she was going to be doing for them. they haven't had any issues at all with the LO. maybe we should have done that lol.

the new supermarket near us has an option to mix and match as many pods as you want for $0.56 each. i'll pick up on of those if they have them.

  5. just got email from loan officer...my birthdate "somehow" got entered as 2015 instead of 19xx so the documents need to be resubmitted (again). we won't be doing any signing today, and maybe even not tomorrow. gotta laugh a little at how ridiculous this all is, right?

Ugh I feel like #######, why do I even try to eat out all it does is make me sick!!

is there anything you can take to counter the effects? sorry you're feeling crappy. :(

ooh we are getting a keurig today. yay coffee!

  6. Kit that looks awesome! Makes me hungry, lol.

I just was planning to transfer my credits to a four year school this fall but none of the places in the area offer evening classes which I need because of work... And I still need two classes to get my associate's, both of which are only offered in the spring. Blargh. I turn 24 in two weeks and still don't have a degree even though I've consistently been going to school since I graduated from high school. It's just an expensive, scrappy situation.

that sucks...is there any way you could work evening shifts or somehow work your schedule around the classes?

    what is funeral rolls ?

they are kings hawaiian buns sliced in half and filled with ham (or you could use shredded chicken or beef) and cheese, drenched in a sweet, tangy sauce, then baked. here's the recipe i used: http://www.stockpilingmoms.com/2014/01/funeral-rolls/

  7. stretch, i tried the breakfast casserole with frozen hash browns recipe you linked for jonas' writing group yesterday. it was pretty good taste-wise especially for people who don't like heat/spice, next time if i'm cooking for just our family i'll add chilli flakes, loads more black and white pepper, and double the meat. one of the comments said that 10 hours in the crockpot would be too long and it would come out dry and to cook for 2.5-3 hours on high instead. that didn't work for me, it was still soggy, something closer to 4-5 hours might be more accurate.

the funeral rolls though turned out amazing. i made 24 and kept 4 back in the fridge for our lunch the day after. it was a good thing i did cos the ones i put out disappeared within the first half hour lol.

    and food from jonas' birthday:

Got some crappy school news today. :( I just want to graduate and be done! At this rate it feels like this is never going to end. I'll be forty and still in school. Gerrgdhd.

    At least it's warm today...

    what happened?

  8. lol yesterday the loan officer finally got back to us (after i called half the branch managers to find out what was going on) to say that she had been out of call service all day. mmhmm, during office hours. sure.

today, she sends us this email:

"Just letting you both know that I am staying behind today while every else heads out to make sure I have phone service."

how kind of her! documents weren't sent to escrow yesterday as promised even though underwriter didn't come back with any conditions. she says today "for sure".:(

i am very happy (and less stressed) now that she is finally communicating with us though.

  9. I agree in theory that the marriage certificate should be enough to verify a name change at SSA. In practice this seems to be unknown to the SSA. Going to another office is not always possible as they are not that plentiful. In my wife's case, we tried that at our local office even talking to a supervisor, then finally gave up and had the card issued in her maiden name which matched her passport and I94. We had to go back two more times to get the name changed and remove the valid for work only conditions once she got her EAD and GC, but that was easier than driving a few hundred miles to another office.

If one is lucky, they will get a knowledgable SSA employee, but otherwise they need to decide how to make this as painless as possible.

    Good Luck.

i agree that in practice, not all SSA employees are familiar with their job, as kay also mentioned earlier. however, i was correcting what an earlier poster said, that one cannot get an ssn in married name without the green card. there are many who have done this with just the marriage certificate and more who have done it once the EAD card arrived.

the GC is required to remove the "valid for work only with DHS authorization" conditions.
