  1. As per Ryan H, if your wife wants to take your family name she needs to have her passport in your family name at NVC stage, some have it at interview. But you can submit the petition in her married name.

I am yet to change my passport into my married name but we are already approved in USCIS ( I-130). My husband filed the petition on my married name both the G-325A and I-130 form. We are still waiting now for our NVC case # and hopefully I already have my PP in married name by the time I will submit the civil documents to NVC.

Good luck on your visa journey.

  2. Infoneeded SennaBrigante and GlowMe90 I wish magicjack can be used here. Im able to download but wont be able to register cause UAE blocked it :(

Tried to call NVC twice using normal local number but I was already out of credit/Load before I could even talk to them… Its only this one lady saying my call is important to them and have to wait and will be attended shortly, then one guy will say All their agents are busy attending calls… lol

Its costly to call them. But my hubby cant call due to the nature of his job and won’t be able to call only once he is home after 2 weeks.

  3. We want everything to be perfectly filed. Therefore, we decided to do the test form. So we filed the details in i-130 and saved in PDF format. The problem is it would not allow us to save the SSN of my USC wife. Is this problem because we are trying to save. Will the problem be sorted if we print.

    - You can overwrite the file. Type in the SSN then click save as and just click okay to replaced the previously saved file

In question 15 at I-130 they say Name and address of present employer ? Date this employment began? Whose employment ? Mine (beneficiary) or petitioners (wife) Also it does not allows us put date on employment. why?

    - it is for beneficiary’s employment . keep the date on MM/DD/YYYY format

not enough space for address and name of employer but it let me keep typing it in... how do we resolve this issue??

-some entries will allow you to put more characters and automatically make the font somehow smaller. Just keep it as it is.

    - as per the instructions, you can add another sheet, just mention file I-130 and which specific number it is for

We need to give the last address we shared together and tell the length of time we were there (month and year) should i use your address for the summer?? This summer we spend few weeks together in my address in Delhi 'coz we went on traveling. Should we mention that?? As we spent only few weeks at my place; will that be problem?

    - you need not to mention the place where it is for holiday/vacation only

In question 20 at I-130, they said to put my name and address in native alphabet (if my native alphabet is other than Roman). We both dont know how to type my native (devnagari / Nepali) font over computer. Can we simply ink pen the info?
-the ink pen should do fine. That’s what we do for entries that we cannot type.

We are so sorry to ask tons of question. We look forward to hear from you guys.

    Thanks in Advance

Good luck on your visa journey

  4. sorry to hear that UH60Chief , hope your wife will get her visa soon.

    that's quite a scary info. -_-

Im still far from getting the visa yet cause we just got approval from USCIS recently. But me and my hubby already discussed about not going to put in my resignation until I have the visa on hand. My company has 45-60 days notice policy but we have waited this long already so another 45 days wont hurt if we will wait.

  5. Hello everyone,

As what we’ve read, CR1 takes 6-8 moths to be approved from USCIS. We planned of getting stuff for the civil documents 3 months from our i-130 submission including changing of my passport to married name. But to our surprise we were approved 17 days from our NOA1 (thanks God for it).

So now I have little time to get things done for the NVC stage. My concerns are :

    1. ) Can I submit my passport Biopage along with IV packet later with my maiden name? Im currently in UAE and it will take time to change my passport to married name. My husband filed the i-130 with my married name and maiden name as other name.
    2. ) For DS-260 , can we fill it up with my Married name too while using my current passport number which is having my maiden name?
    3. ) I worked in Qatar for 1 year. If I will request for PCC, it will be in my maiden name and not married name, will it be okay?
    4. ) Qatar PCC is valid only for 6 months, do I need to get another PCC during interview if the PCC already expires by then?

    Thanks in advance VJ J

And kindly give us your opinion on some points

    • Our chat logs are about 68 pages (selected 1 day each month) , Skype logs has 22 pages and Pictures has 12 pages, is this overkill?
    • We cannot get a letter from the bank or an account statement direct from the bank as we are both outside Philippines now and not able to get it before we leave the PI. Is the online account statement acceptable?

    Thanks a lot in advance <3 <3 <3

  7. Now I am worried about my case… My BC has Middle Initial on it but my passport doesn’t have. When I applied for my passport , I gave them my BC and told me that since I am Illegitimate, then theres no need for middle name. So they just put my given name and family name on my passport and no more middle name or middle initial.

Planning to send both my BC and biopage of my passport with our I-130. Do you think I will have the same problem later?

  8. Hi Addiboy. we are now preparing our stuff as well for CR1 visa. Im not sure if it will help but I have somehow incomplete name too. I have family name but no middle name.

Since I am already married, Im using now my husbands family name as family name and my maiden name as my middle name.

I am from Philippines and in Philippines, middle name for women means our mothers maiden name(single) or our Maiden name (married)

  9. Hello everyone, I need some advice regarding other names used. My mother got married to my stepfather when I was 2 years old. After they got married, they tried to re-register me in the local registrar’s office with my stepfathers family name( i.e Cruz ) but I am not legally adopted by him. They were thinking back then that re-registering is already good enough. So I was XXXXXX Cruz since I was 2 years old until I was 20 years old. When I was about to graduate in college on March 2005 , the university asked for the authenticated birth certificate and that’s when we found out that I have my mother’s maiden name as my Family name “ i.e Santos”. The local registrar’s office advise us to use the family name based on the BC from that time onwards. With all the notarized affidavit, I graduated with new name “ XXXXXX Santos and not XXXXXX Cruz “. All my ID’s now and my passport are already as per my BC “ XXXXXX Santos “. I was approved a Visit Visa last February and on DS-160 form , I mentioned ‘ NO’ on the question other names used. I mentioned NO on DS-160 cause I thought it’s applicable for some nationality who has different English names : Japanese/Chinese maybe :D.

    My question is:

    • Should I mentioned XXXXX Cruz in other names used?
    • If I do , are they gonna ask me why I put NO on DS-160 form while applying for Tourist Visa?
    • Will this be a problem , like they would say I lied on my DS-160 form?
    • Do they usually ask for supporting documents in this case

Thanks in advance on your response
