You are so blessed! You application went through seamlessly. I hope mine goes by quick too. I applied this January. Did you apply for i485 before filing for vawa or did you put all applications in at the same time? I applied for my i485 in December and vawa this Jan

I did everything together. I was in a bad situation and God wanted to take me out of it so he made the process smooth. You will get it just pray about it and talk to God tell him your plans and he will see you through. I always wanted to join the military and the day I left my AOS interview I went in the office and it's the best decision I ever made. You're going to be fine.

Hi if I remember well, I applied in January 2013, got my EAD in march 5 but due to my delivery I got it the end of march. Got my appointment date in august did my interview in October got my green card like two weeks later. Got my citizenship September 2014. Hope that helps.

  3. Hi everyone I still get emails from the forum and read them when I can. I don't know what number vawa thread I'm in since I wrote back in 2013. We'll my case took approximately 6 months to process from first filing to getting my GC. I enlisted in the military and became a citizen a year later 2014. Anyway I'm just here to tell you guys to keep your hopes alive and all will be well. My daughter's dad physically abused me while I was pregnant. My daughter and I living great. We are doing very well. I heard he is homeless now and has never been current on his child support. Ladies and gentlemen anything is possible. I cried so hard when I was swearing in for my citizenship because I did know that day would come when my once undocumented butt would get a GC let alone became a citizen but I did everything right except marrying the wrong guy. Hope everyone get some good news soon ?

  4. Hi guys I haven't posted her in a while but life is great and I hope everyone case is coming along. I am now a citizen over a year now. I am in the military have travel to Europe and the Middle East. In the Middle East now. My princess is 2 and life has never been better for us. If ur ready vawa 2 and 3 you'll see my struggles. My husband beat the crop out of me even when I was 8 months pregnant. Just know where there is life there's hope. Where there is a will thre will be a way.

  5. I had interview on October 8, USPS pick it up on the 18th delivered to my house on the 21. Didn't know it was in my mail box because I had recently moved and never changed my address with the post office and I also expected it to go to my lawyer so it sat in my mail box for some days. Weird I know. My name wasn't even on the mail box and tgey left it unlike ssa who didn't leave my new unrestricted social because my name wasn't on the box. I don't remember the window between the time my lawyer got the notice and my interview. It was about two or 3 weeks caz my vawa was approved august 5, got email update august 14 and hard copy a few days later. My file left vac august 15 or at least that's the date it got updated online and went to NBC and left nbc on august 15 (no delays) so I had interview in two months after approval and 6 weeks after it reach my local office. Once it got to local office it had to be reviewed before date was scheduled and who knows what other things they did before they send out interview notice?

  6. Because of the nature of the petition certain things or document that is considered vital for and AOS that is marriage base is not so much of relevance in the vawa case. All u need is ur passport or a receipt from your consulate that you have applied for a passport (some abusers even damage or withhold the victims documents) your birth certificate or a receipt of one applied for, your children's birth certificate when applicable (child/ten are beneficiaries or apart of the marriage), your i94 or i94 waiver, marriage certificate, and a drivers license if you don't have your passport in hand, your i360 approval, the interview schedule letter (it's ised to check you in), your medical if you didn't previously submitted it, all divorce decree, or anullment. It's highly recommended that you have original of all document but because some victims had to relocate or flee the homes of there abuse you may not have your originals explain that to the io. It's about pleading your case. Be factual they can't deny you for the truth. Once you can prove your identity then that's what matters.

In my interview the io asked for my birth certificate I had it available, my daughters birth certificate, she's a USC born in my abusive marriage, my passport which I explained I applied for but because of the quick process of my application (in total 8months) and being a single mother money was tight and I was just able to and it will not be available until 4-6 weeks from application and I give her the receipt. She asked for my medical which I took with me and my i94. She never asked for my EAD (still have it). She asked to see a pic of my daughter (dead stamp a r pa) and she proceed to ask me the security questions from the application. Once completed she said if I recently change my address I said yes and updated it. She asked me what name I want to use on my residency card I said my maiden name. She said if we don't contact your lawyer by the end of the day for additional information then you will have your card in 30 days. She said enjoy your life in America (indirectly telling me I'm approved). She asked me what I did for a living I told her on our way out and she said I know you will make the best of your time here. Very nice young African American girl. I had a lawyer from start to end. No rfe, and he kept me updated.

Just to update you, I am officially a future sailor will get ship off in June feel proud to salute the Star-Spangled Banner at dep meetings. I passed my LPN board and I'm taking a trip to Jamaica late next month! Oh and my baby girl is almost 1 omg!

I never saw myself as a helpless victim but more as an overcomer because I know HOWTOSURVIVE

  7. until you walk a mile in a person's shoes don't judge. its easier to look from the outside in but on the inside lies the truth. how will that benefit you by reporting her? what do u have to gain? will it speed up your process? is she paying the guy? even if u tell ice she don t love the guy what proof do you have? love is subjective so u have no case! more people need to mind there business and leave others a lone! why don't you talk to her and tell her its morally incorrect because that is not fraud! and again its her ex husband so they have history! quite frankly what you are going to report will not make sense and ice gets paid by tax payers and I would hate for my tax dollars to be spent investigating morals over crimes!

  8. Write his command station because when he joined being married ur signature and Id was required on the financial statement and his he falsify ur signature to join her will be in hot water with the military including imprisonment. Do u know where he is station? Go to ur local child support center give them his social in an attempt to get child support they will find him for u and if u don't want child support u drop it and get intouch with his command. The basic housing allowance is only for married E1-E4 so u and ur kids are the reason he's getting it and he should support y'all. Feel free to pm me. Good luck

  9. I came here on a j1 back in 2008 I met my husband and we got married years later and I was able to adjust my status. the only problem u may encounter is if the 2 year rule apply but for the four months program I doubt it do. if u marry him in may u need to update it at ur job for tax purposes and if u decide to stay beyond September u have to apply for i130 and i485 and i765 to get a ead to work. its not a complex thing but u should never come on a non immigrant visa with the intent to marry its illegal but u marrying a usc waives the "crime".

  10. Creating fake vawa reports is a crime and should not only expell the reporter but those that are aiding them in defaming a USC. I am glad you post this kind of stuff on a site that immigration watches so they will know who you are.

Up this this point I never suggested a route for him to take in his aos. But because your so anti vawa that's this first thibg that cane to your mind. I'm happy io are educated ppl that read with understanding and not make assumption like naive ppl. The mind is a terrible thing to waste! Read before you write and if you don't understand read again. I never told him to choose vawa or maje a false claim. I suggest he see a lawyer! He has the right to. Did he tell you heplans to ffalsely claim vawa? He never even explain what cased the breakdown of his marriage so when he explain everything to a "competent professional" then he decide if he can aos or go home! America is a no man land who are you to tell someone to go home? A lot oh ppl were and is still here that contribute more to this country than its own ppl. Now leave me alone and attack someone else who don't know their rights! "Knowledge is powere"

  11. If u read with understanding u would not reply quoting something with an answer that has no relevance to the quote. Thank you. I said "you may" not "you have"! People don't always know their options so sometimes you need referral that's why I suggest that he speak to a immigration lawyer and not take some "incompetent" person's advise. Yes I know a attorney that assist me that I can refer him to. I didn't suggest a route or path for him to aos. Next time pls just read without judgement and not imply base on your feelings towards a aos route that was passed by UNITED STATES, not by another country or by one person. If you have a personal feelings towards i360, report it to congress, uscis and not bash ppl. I've seen several of your comments on here. That is why I don't ask for information on here I seek professional help. Thank you!

  12. Yeah the time frame varies but remember every time tgey read your file they either gonna approve deny or rfe. So if you give them every thing one time its tge best chance of getting it over with faster. My interview was less than two months from my vawa approval. And they transfer my case a day after it was updated but my actual i360 was approved on August 5 according to the hard copy. Hang in there besgirlever your good news is around the corner. Singledad 2usc ur interview is nearer than u think.

  13. The admissible part is proven by your birth certificate. They do a biometric so they know who you are. This captures your photo and other personal features. And tge ajudicator reviews your file before they call you. Ssa and uscis acceptddifferent for of ids because uscis has a lot to do with safeguarding national security so they are more stringent than ssa. Just make tge sacrifice and get it. Its needed at least proof that you have applied for one.

  14. Hi. I've gone through the vawa process. I applied in February my receipt sare is February 19, 2013. I had my interview on October 8, 2013. I was approved with only security yes and no questions less than 5 minutes. My case was physical abuse. Never knew about vawa before my lawyer told me. I got married after a year of dating and as soon as we moved in I got pregnant and the abuse started. I got no rfe and my caee went fast faster than I expected. Didnt even had a valid passport because I was expecting the vawa part to take about a year but it took less than 6 months and my aos interview took less than two months from the vawa approval date. Very quick. I never filed any paper works with my husband because I wasn't in any rush. If u need my help pm me.

  15. A goverment issued I'd is required preferable a passport but mine was applied for and not yet here because my case took only 8 months for everything and the nature of my case it wasn't a big deal but yes you do need a valid I'd and I used my driver's license. Singledad2usc pls don't try to imply or make things more complicated. Try to have your passport or have a valid reason why you don't and not run the risk of being denied.

  16. I didn't bring a passport since my old passport expired since 2011 and I applied for a new one at my consulate but it didn't arrive in time for my interview. I brought the receipt for the new one and I brought my dl and ead as id's. At my local office they no longer stamp your passport and only a supervisor can approve the application but they io makes the recommendation for the approval. They only asked me couple security questions which I already answered on the i485 application.

I'm sampling around for best possible opinion: how important is it to bring Passport to interview?

Howtosurvive, congrats! You didn't mention that. If you did bring valid Passport, wouldn't they put a 551 stamp in it? While people say there is zero chance they'd stamp an expired Passport. Is that 100% so?

    I answered ur questions
