You can file overseas it is not a problem, there are no requirements that you live in the USA, all the paper work will be mailed to your foreign address it will just take 5-10 days longer to receive it.

Has anyone else just shown up at a US Border crossing and giving the CBP Officer a promise that they will file immigrant documents soon and then been admitted legally into the US without a visa or anything other than a promise to be good? If that's really how they got into the US and that method works, I'm sure a lot of people would like to know how, sure is a lot cheaper method than paying for Visas...

He is pretty much SOL, even if he filed a N-600 and they issued his citizenship certificate then they would say all he needs to do us come claim it but they will never let him back in the country to do so. It apparently happens quite a lot but rarely ends well so he may as well get used to living in Honduras.

A purchased H1-B? How could that even work? Maybe they could falsify the I-797's etc but how would they ever get it past a US consulate in order to get the Visa stamp (which is much more than just a stamp but rather a full ID printed on a passport page) in order to get back into the US. I could see how one could purchase a position that an employer would petition on your behalf but that would require an otherwise legitimate position that would pass scrutiny and nursing isn't an acceptable skill for a H1-B.
There are big holes in this story...
I've got some ocean front property in Arizona...

Her sister is married to elderly Norwegian retired ship captain. I wonder how many of those you'd find in landlocked Arizona.

The immigrant is not supposed to receive benefits during the first five years. A lot of places don't know that and give them benefits anyway. Or what if she has some potentially deadly disease or accident. Who is going to pay for that? I hate to say it but a lot of people who are here without any status receive benefits everyday.

No offense to all Philippines people but USCIS should be really careful with Philippines ladies that US citizens bring to the US and they fall in a scam. This isnt the first incident I read in here nor the 10th!! Please before falling in the "exotic" " not your typical american" type of girl straight away, make sure she is the RIGHT WOMAN. If you be careful, you will save yourself tons of money and headache. Philippines is a poor country and high fraud so OPEN your eyes. This is a message for everyone and not just the OP. NO OFFENSE to any other people from the Philippines who came here with good intentions but we cannot just NOT talk about this. It became a new fashion and its very disturbing. I think rising awareness should be no offense to anyone.
    Some tips :
    - Meet your Girlfriend more than 2 times before filing K1. Live with her and tell her you want to settle in her country and see what she says.
    - If she asks for a lot of money for her mom, brother and sick friend then open your eyes and see where your money is going (probably to her boyfriend)
    - Meet all her family and always be aware of how they act.
    - If she is in a hurry to move to the USA then that might be a red flag.
    - This is probably wrong but dont give full trust straight away and always make sure you know who she talks with when you are away at work ( she might talk with the other guy she originally came for)
    - Scams happen all the time but rarely you find a smart scammer ( meaning that you are just NAIVE not to notice that).
if anyone has other tips then write them down. this is a serious problem and I hope the OP will find a solution for this.

I am not saying this the case here, but people should watch for RED FLAGS, I am sorry but this bs of women in hers 20/25 with man 50/55 for me is a RED RED RED flag, with a few exceptions, man sending money to the woman as soon they start dating, one, two visits and get married, dating 2/5months and proposal etc..the list is huge , people need just to pay attention to these signs.

    Philippines= High fraud country.
Lots of young women from the Philippines wanting a better standard of life. Green card seems to be the accepted way. The way to do this is snag an American husband
There are lots of American men (generally older men) looking for young women to marry who are probably less demanding and not so sure of themselves as American women.
This leads to this situation a lot. Guys on here posting how their wife left them as soon their green cards arrived.
Or The wife posting on here on how their American husband suddenly changed and became aggressive and abused them, so they left.

Why do you need your employment authorisation document to apply for a social security number? Applying with a K-1 Visa, you should of gotten your number within 10 days of arriving in the country.
