And now both my parents are done with their immigration journey. My August filer parent just had their oath today at the Irving field office. Short and sweet, quite unceremonious but it was smooth and they are glad to be done! All the best to anyone still in the middle of their journey 🇺🇸 

Interview completed successfully. I passed the first 6 questions so did not get asked the last 4. The written test was easy as well. Straightforward interview. It took me 15 minutes at most. The funny thing is the ceremony room was closed for the entire week. As the result, the USCIS interviewer offered me to take the oath in the office right after the interview, which I did. I got the certification maybe like 10 minutes after. Overall, very surreal experience but I am glad that it is now completed. Good luck to everyone out there still.

I received notification today regarding my interview. Applied on 8/8, fingerprints taken on 8/29, interview set on 12/9. Dallas office. Applied under 5 year rule

Long time since I'm been on VJ, but it's good to be back! We dragged our heels on filing for citizenship, but decided for hubby to file for self naturalization based on how long he's been here (since 2014, removal of conditions in 2017) since I read that it required less paperwork than filing based on marriage to U.S. citizen spouse.
 
Here is our current timeline:
 
N-400 Citizenship
08/15/2024 - Filed online for self-naturalization
08/16/2024 - USCIS Receipt Notice (I-797)
10/15/2024 - E-mail stating Interview Notice was mailed
10/25/2024 - Still no letter in mail, but checked Documents tab and found notice
11/04/2024 - Interview Date in Houston

Wife had her oath ceremony today in San Antonio, TX. First, we were made to wait in a different room because the naturalization room was full. After 15-20 mins, we saw people leaving with certificates in their hands. As we entered the naturalization room, the guests were separated and were made to sit in a different group but in the same room. No photography or videography was allowed. They then asked to fill-up N445 and distributed the voting registration form as today was the last day to register for the vote in Texas. Later they came to collect the filled-up form and green cards. The officer from the voting office first explained about the process to fill the form. Later, another officer announced set of rules like no photography and videography, one must check and sign the certificate before leaving the parking lot as it will cost 500+ dollars to rectify the error. She also mentioned one needs to visit social security office after 2 weeks to get their social updated despite filling it in the N400 form and passport application doesn't have to wait for this. They also asked guests to take off the caps if they are not wearing it for religious reasons.  Then another officer came and asked them to say “I do” in unison after he says the oath. He made them practice twice. Then he said the entire oath and people at the end said “I do”. All of them were then asked to collect their certificate and leave the building. They could still check for errors outside the building and guards will let them in if there’s any issues with the certificate.  The whole process like an hour. 

Once outside the office, we checked the certificate as there was some issue with her last name during her interview. My wife’s last name as per her marriage certificate was “ABC-XYZ”. In her passport and GC, it was “ABC XYZ”. During her interview, the officer mentioned her official name is same as her marriage certificate i.e. “ABC-XYZ” but can do a name change during oath. The naturalization certificate she got had “ABC XYZ” as her name and it was stapled with a name change decree from West Texas Court with the court seal. Glad we dont have to do any name change in her other documents/accounts. Once we were outside, she signed the certificate and the people from voting office had setup a booth outside where they were collecting the filled forms. 
 
Her ordeal is over but mine is still in limbo despite both of us submitting on the same day. Will keep posting as and when I get any updates on my case. 

Sorry I didn’t post earlier the outcome . She is a citizen now just waiting for a date for the swear in ceremony. She was very nervous going in . Watching a lot of YouTube civic test. She got 6 questions answered correctly and didn’t need much else but verifying her info . Got there at 10:45am at the Tucson USCIS and was sitting for maybe 10 minutes then another 15 and she was done. Next wait for ceremony date. Most likely on a Friday . Too bad she won’t be able to vote this year but I did tell her she might be able to vote in the school board soon. Glad it is over . We talked to her Daughter in Nigeria . She was so happy , screaming and crying at the same time . I couldn’t even get a word in to her. lol .

Parent passed their interview today. They had to wait for about an hour or so before being called, actual interview lasted ~10 minutes. Status now says they have been placed in line for an oath ceremony.

Got my approval letter today... 
Happy but weird. I called twice between the day I was approved and not a single officer told me I was approved. They told me it was being reviewed still... And I called this morning and said they were doing the last verification. And tonight I open the mail and the approval letter is there... Weird..

I just ran an analysis of the 8 approved June 2016 filers (there were more, but their durations weren't along the trend, so I excluded them), and the 1 approved July 2016 filer. It appears that the average processing time is 304 days, from the date of filing to the date of approval. The maximum time is 320 days and the minimum is 283 days. Using this information, we can determine when our cases will most likely be approved:
 
If you filed on 07/01/2016, expect approval around 05/01/2017
If you filed on 07/18/2016, expect approval around 05/18/2017
If you filed on 07/25/2016, expect approval around 05/25/2017
 
It's just a coincidence that the expected approval day of the month is the same day in the month of filing. This is because 304 days is also the number of days from 1 July 2016 to 30 April 2017. So basically, hold on tight guys. We should be seeing some action next month!

On top of the processing dates table it says: "Field Office Processing Dates for California Service Center as of: January 31, 2017".

Suggest you take a big step back, you have plenty of time, annulment is not a quick process and as you said it costs.
 
You may wish to consider how she forgot to mention she was married. Strikes me as the sort of thing that might be worth mentioning.

You would go to the interview and be stating under oath that you are in a viable marriage  That is a good way to get banned for life

The May 2016 Google doc (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1K2JoU_2yXD0QBBqRoM6_auTa52wY1gcMiM0YFhs6cYQ/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0) is currently showing that 27 of 52, or just over half, of CSC applicants have been approved. No movement yet on VSC, alas.

46 days? Thats nothing. Be patient

1,5 years ago some people were waiting 9 months to a year. You're well within the USCIS processing goal for I129F petitions, which is five months. Hang in there and good luck :-)

Thanks HappyinLove!!! I just got home and check the mail for the gazillinth time and FINALLY got my biometrics for October 17th. Woo Hoo we are so relived!!! On to the next step and then back to waiting again

Hi everyone! Can't believe it's been 2 years already. My 90 day window opened early last month, but we weren't able to send it until today. So here I am as a July 2016 Filer.
