Those are exactly the people who the 14th was interpreted to give citizenship to.
And for the record, the diverse "melting pot" doesn't say anything about them sneaking into the country illegally. It doesn't say anything about "you have the RIGHT to come to the USA." As to those who've been born here, it says they have a right to be American if their parents are subject to the jurisdiction of the US. Illegals ARE NOT subject to the jurisdiction of the US unless we make them subject.

As your average faux militia member obsessed with guns to compensate for their small #######, I think what happens today is we mix in being a good american with being a good Christian and that tends to smudge the lines a little.
I'm not sure where it says in the bible that we should go to college so we can have a big house and nice cars, hang out at swanky places, etc. Yet, we've made it somewhat of a goal in our society that in order to be a "decent person" you have to be semi-successful. People may not be judged on the eventual resting place of their soul, but they are judged on where they rest their heads at night.
You may or may not be a good influence on my salvation, but I can judge whether or not you're a good influence on my success. Too often today, people choose based upon those lines - not the lines specifically spelled out in the book.
Do you think Jesus would turn away gays, criminals, drug addicts? Or do you think he would've picked them up in his $50,000 minivan and invited them into his $500,000 mansion in order to better their lives?
People hate "the gays" yet they're divorced. People hate unwed mothers yet they were pregnant when they got married. People hate criminals, drug addicts, those on welfare - yet they won't invite them into their homes and share what they have with them.
    Hypocrisy? What would Jesus do?

    A threat is a threat.
You've typed that you respect johns less than you respect hookers (I guess because of some misconception that they're innocent in all this or something.) I know you said you won't answer my questions about analogies, but do you also blame drug users more than drug dealers?
It's interesting for me to argue with folks who have convinced themselves of some alternate form of reality that they've either dreamed up in their head or been spoon-fed by their government.
By all means, keep it up!

Prostitutes are like taxi cabs. If the light's on, she's a prostitute. If it's not, she's just a car.
Much in the same way, every woman out there can offer rides for free or for cash. Not every woman is a prostitute, but every woman can be a prostitute.
What I see a lot of is women driving around yellow cars and giving rides to various men but instead of "running the meter" they simply go out to dinner, have their light bill paid, get a free cell phone, etc., in exchange for that ride. Somehow, they claim to be "better" than the taxi because they don't have their fee prominently displayed on the door.

If guys can be convicted of rape because they lied to a woman just to have sex with her... we're all doomed! "The sex was obtained under false pretenses." What sex isn't?

File for divorce then go together to the USCIS office and tell them you'd like to cancel your AOS and will be returning to your home country upon completion of divorce. Remember, as long as you're still married you're not "out of status" and can remain in the U.S. indefinitely. Once you're divorced, you'll have to leave right away.
All that aside..... and this is just me on the outside looking in......
It sounds like you at least care about your husband a little bit. I know it's a very hard time between K-1 and AOS and divorce may seem like the right thing to do. But, you guys went through all that hassle to get the K-1 and get married.... why not try to wait it out a little bit? Sometimes the "for better" comes after the "for worse."
Why not try to get your AOS and say, in six months, if you still want to get a divorce then do it?

Why is it we feel like we're supposed to turn in a murderer but not an illegal?
So many of us here on VJ have struggled through the VJ process yet, even still, some of us fail to see illegals as "illegal" and feel sorry for these criminals. Why is that?

What I don't understand is why it's news every time another state backs Arizona. This isn't the FED vs. all the states that back AZ, this is the FED vs. AZ. It doesn't matter how many states back them or don't back them. (Or have similar laws already in place that nobody cares about.)

I can't believe they hold people who are here illegally, put them through the courts, etc. when it'd be just as easy to tattoo their foreheads "DO NOT ADMIT TO U.S." and ship them back across the border. Stamp 'em and ship 'em and save some money.

You're making my point for me.
It is an intrusion on liberty when the government bans private business from selling it's product. It starts off with an innocent "it's for health, and that's a good thing, right?" argument and ends up with public bans on private enterprise. Only the government can approve what can be bought and sold.
    Thanks, big brother!

slim got a reaction from tmma in Socialist Obama administration throws $5B tax money at veterans with PTSD
Many of those veterans choose to be on the streets. There are a ######-ton of programs out there for vets and 9 times out of 10, the vets you see on the streets are the ones who've chosen to live a life on the streets instead of being the responsible person they were trained to be.
While PTSD may have something to do with that, the majority of vets on the streets won't be helped by PTSD monies or treatments unless they're coupled with some serious substance abuse treatments as well.
Soldiers are contractually bound to our support after separation. When they enlist they sign up for benefits that continue even after their service is finished. Ever heard of the GI Bill? VA Health systems are similar in that a soldier's service may have qualified them for benefits later.
Civilian employees typically do not get the same benefits from their employer. They get COBRA, but that's about as close as it gets.
VA is making it VERY EASY to get PTSD treatment now. I was in there a few weeks ago and they were pretty pushy with the questions "Are you sure you don't have dreams or flashbacks or anything like that? Are you sure? Never? OK. Are you sure?"
Part of that is they have to be pushy because PTSD has been taboo for a long time and we're just now starting to accept it for what it is. These macho soldiers who are full of bravado don't like to admit they have nightmares and stress that takes away from their work at Home Depot. While I'm sure the money allocated will get used (it is a govt. program, after all) I think a lot more will be put to folks who actually need it than to folks who are "scamming the system." I mean, what are they going to do, get free counseling?
People in the private sector don't sign a contract entitling them to benefits that extend out past their release date. If they did, they'd get the same benefits.
