Do you know that Tea Party groups showed up? I never heard of it, but I could be wrong.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the "union thugs turning everyone away" thing was debunked. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/sandyunion.asp

Yes, it did. They organized to prevent relief efforts from being funded. Made NJ's governor quite mad.

If you are not comfortable with it, you are not comfortable with it. End of. People on here are going to tell you OMG HE WANTS TO BONE HERRRRRRR, and others will say "Not a biggie, grow up!" Only YOU know what you are comfortable with.
For example, my ex-husband and I are good friends, and he helps me out with any issues relating to my car. I saw him last night because he's working on my car radio upgrade, and we hung out, had dinner and watched an old movie. My boyfriend knew this was happening, and he had no problem with it. I made it clear when I entered my relationship with my boyfriend that I am friends with my ex-husband and a couple of ex-boyfriends, and that if he wasn't cool with that he needed to tell me upfront. He asked me if I was still sleeping with any of them, or wanted to, and I said NO WAY. We've been together two years and I maintain a policy of always telling my BF if I'm hanging with an ex. Hell, he's even friends with one of my ex-boyfriends now.
The key is honesty and openness. What are YOU comfortable with? Have you told him your concerns?

That's funny I wouldn't be on an internet forum saying your son was wondering in the woods and nobody knew that he had left. That's called child neglect and endangerment. Not knowing where your 2 year old is, isn't something to be proud of. I can pretty much guarantee the number of people who would think the worse parent is the one who let a 2 year old wander through the woods, rather than the one who had a 17 year old that was bad at knowing the names of streets.

OP, you sound dreamy. Please tell us more about how often you want sexytimes, and your wife's compliance with demands for sexytimes. Also, more about going to nightclubs on Ladies' Night and Walmart frozen dinners. Plus, I need instructions on showing off a ####### (just one) for access to more $$$$$.

To the bolded - no, "all" of us didn't (although I agree that some responses did imply that.) Helpful people are trying to tell you what the consulate will likely look at very closely, and also explain why. This is priceless information for you in preparing your case, because you have to deal with the consulate successfully if you want your husband to get a visa.
This forum is one of the best places on the net to find information about navigating through a (sometimes) confusing immigration process with a MENA spouse in general, as well as specific information about the Cairo consulate in particular - from people who have personally gone through it with cases similar to yours. You may find some of the members' comments to be unhelpful, or maybe they assume things that aren't the case, and of course some people are just blunt. Welcome to the net. But if you can grow a thicker skin, you have much to gain from the members' collective experience here. So I wouldn't throw out the baby with the bathwater... but of course it's your choice.

most atheists are tired of being treated like pariahs of the community. people attend church is for a sense of belonging, community with like minded people. as an atheist, i certainly enjoy the company of a like-minded people. i wouldn't be so quick to assume atheists are trying to fill a 'spiritual' void - more like a social void, as it says in the OP - which i'm not sure danno read before choosing his title..

Sad to hear this. I have stood in your husband's shoes and I have an idea of what you're going through.
A little over a year later, our munchkin was born and she is a constant reminder that what is meant to be will be.
Trust that it will get better.

I don't know if it will help but most miscarriages happen because something is wrong with the fetus and it's nature's way of sparing it pain. You did nothing wrong, they are common, and lie the doctor said, you are young and nothing is wrong with your body. Good luck going forward, and my condolences for your loss.

He's really old. In his day, oriental and negro were not considered pejoratives. Yes, most old people find themselves able to 'grow up' and change with the times but some do not. We must not judge people for their disabilities. That isn't nice.

My SO is Asian-American. The word "Oriental" is very offensive to me. Please don't use it. It's as vulgar as calling an African-American a "Negro."

-I was just wondering why you don't talk about your other sons. I wasn't even aware you had other sons until yesterday, and yet I know every detail about your step children.

So let me get this straight...
A woman dies during an abortion and it's a call for outrage.
A woman dies because she was DENIED an abortion and it doesn't matter?

Don't pretend to care about the mother in either situation.

Empress of Groovy reacted to Dakine10 in "Beware Gun Registration -- It's Coming"
There's a big difference between calling something a parallel and implying it be a cause and effect. The folks who write these articles like to list a handful of historical cases of democide. For some reason, they don't bother to list the hundreds of countries that have successfully implemented gun licensing and registration without democide happening. It's like saying there's a parallel between getting on an airplane and crashing into the side of a mountain.
Anyway the problem with using historical data to write an article is you need to get the facts straight. It is easy to look it up.
Hitler didn't ban guns in Germany. Most private gun ownership ended in Germany in 1919. These restrictions were part of the treaty of Versailles. Hitler wasn't even in politics at the time. Gun restrictions were actually loosened in 1938 when people were again allowed to own rifles. Most of the democide in Germany occured between 1939 and 1941.
In Russia, it's true - gun control was imposed in 1929. Like Germany, gun restrictions were significantly reduced as Russia entered WW2. Using the same University of Hawaii study that most of these dates come from, it's easy to see rate of democide was not deterred by an armed populace. It ended when Stalin ended.
What it comes down to is this. There is a fairly good historical correlation between maniacal demagogues or dictators and the number of people they kill. Armed populace .. sorry, not so much.
