This is a logical AND condition. You must be a LPR for at least 3 years AND married to a US citizen for at least 3 years AND that US citizen must have been a citizen for the last 3 years AND you cannot have any trips outside the US for longer than 6 months AND you must have lived in the district or state you are apply to for at least 3 months. Every one of those must be true BEFORE you can apply for citizenship.
In your case you will have been married for 3 years, but you will have been a LPR for only 2 years--not eligible for USC. I highly recommend you give the guide to naturalization a look.to better understand what it is you need to do inorder to become a USC.

Well a representative with Senator Cruz's office in Austin just called about our request for answers. She said that our case is an "interview waiver case" (i already knew that) and she said that it is still at NBC and will be processed by NBC.
She said that she calls on these cases all the time. She said when the peitioner/spouse is in the U.S. and the case is straightforward, they usually will stay at NBC and be processed by them. She said that most of the time when the case is not straightforward, and they think that there is a "flag" of some sort, it will be sent to the nearest USCIS processing office to where they live for them to set up an interview.
She also said that for our case, the wait time is about 6-10 months from the date of the letter. She said that if we don't hear anything by the end of March, to call her back and she will check back into our case.

I just wanted to say hi
And for all I know, some people get the GC 2 months after they got the letter and they said that the uscis website never updated.
So, don't let their web service stress you out.
I got my letter July 2014.
    Please, everyone, keep us updated.
Or, does anyone know any forums of people who had gotten the letter in July, so I can join, and atleast have an idea of what is going on?

Some have received the interview waiver letter and have still received an interview appointment. The waiver is no guarantee you will not interview. If you are approved without interview, then none of this will be an issue, since they will have accepted the I-864 as it was when you filed.

I am sorry for your terrible experience with immigration. This whole immigration journey sure is hard on all of us, but you know what? In the past 20 months (since sending the K1 application) I spent so much time worrying and feeling miserable as never before, and it cost me a lot of energy.... But a few days ago I came to the realization that how I am feeling about all of this does not change anything at all. Whether you are worrying or trying to be as positive as possible and enjoying the time with your partner, it won't change anything about the wait, but it will have a big impact on your life.
I would strongly suggest you apply for an EAD. I am not sure whether it is for free or not (renewal is for free with a pending AOS, but I am not sure about lost cards - maybe others can help here?), but it would definitely take your mind off the whole immigration stuff. I personally find it extremely helpful to earn my own money, distract myself, and feel useful.
By the way, the Interview Waiver letter does not mean that you WILL have to wait another six months; it is a form letter and just states that you MAY have to wait another six months. I have seen lots of people on here who got the Waiver letter and got their Green Cards a couple of weeks or even days later.
You can find your local office here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO You just have to type in your ZIP code. You can then look up your local office's processing times here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do and put in a Service Request/get your congressman involved once your local office is beyond your NOA date.
    Good luck!
PS: It'll help others who are going through the same procedures.

They are on a K1 so no I130 is needed. The fee is $1070 including bio fee. Make sure you do EAD and AP at the same time then no extra cost

Nothing makes sense with these government departments. I had a situation and only by going to the SS office did I get any answers and sometimes they have to make updates right there and then as they did with me. I was having a problems with hyphenating my husbands name and when I called they told me to wait but when I walked in the office they fixed it right away. So good Idea to go in person, let us know what happened and good luck to you.

You do not need the divorce decree with the AOS paperwork.
You send th\em all together. You can separate each form and supporting docs with large paperclips, if you like.
Yes, they each need 2 passport pics and any other documentation that is required for that form. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/472439-evidence-for-756-and-131/?p=6723671
No explanation/reason needed with the I-131 when filed with a pending I-485.
You can probably do a search here on VJ for sample AOS cover letters.

You mean getting all the shots required for the AOS? Yes you can, but be careful because it depends on your age. You'll only need to take a few, not all of them. Make sure you take the ones according to your age.

    Here's the list:

I have used the website linkup.com to find a job after reading good reviews about it online, they don't have any spam listing on there. I successfully found a job with a health insurance company thanks to Linkup, the company called me this morning to offer me the position.
As agnesb mentioned, companies scan resumes for matching words so select key words from the job ad and make sure to use them in your resume. I used a lot of the ad's key words in my cover letter/resume. I was lucky the get the first job I applied for and the salary is very close to what I was earning in Australia.

I assume that this has come up on Visa Journey before, but I think that some of you who are about to apply or who are in the middle of the application process will find this helpful.
I'm sure that almost everyone on Visa Journey has read through the USCIS guide to naturalization (see link below) because it does a decent job of describing the application process.
    Document # 1: USCIS M-476 "A Guide to Naturalization" http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-naturalization/guide-naturalization
However, I'm not sure how many people have looked through the USCIS Policy Manual. Volume 12 of this manual (see link below) gives guidelines to USCIS Officers (not to applicants) on what to ask an applicant for naturalization and who to approve. Many of the questions I've seen posted on Visa Journey can be answered by reading through this (rather long) document.
    Document # 2: USCIS Policy Manual Volume 12 "Citizenship & Naturalization" http://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12.html
    Good luck everyone!

Married on November 9, filed for AOS, EAD, AP on 11/14, applied for SSN 12/30. Took a chance, applied for her in married name. Clerk handled it no problem, I think she was competent in her job. She said that when my wife gets her card, she can work. (No waiting for EAD?) Also said 10 days to receive the card. We shall see.
K-2 visa holder, now 21, must wait for EAD to apply for SSN, according to her. According to VJ timelines, should be here January 16-18

marriage not matter for getting a SSN on a K-1 visa.
What does matter is the k-1 visa and the I-94. However, most SSA clerks are braindead and were asleep during their training sessions.
if you are talking about a marriage certificate, are you worried about 'married name' and are you a female ? If yes to both,
    instead,
I suggest you only apply in VISA name, then have the name changed with SSA later, after you get the first SSN card, when you have the EAD or green card in your hand. SSA clerks are dumb, stupid, and if they cannot find the name you used in the SS-5 application in the SAVE database, they will send out the application to be verified at DHS, which will take anywhere from 3 days to 9 weeks, depending on the staff there at the SSA office.
So, since an SSN is such a big deal, you should apply in VISA name .
Go Get Em and Good Luck !

Yes, as a male, this makes no difference for you. You do not have to worry about changing names and listing maiden name on forms. Your name remains the same on all the forms and you never need to change it. It is easier for males.
