    Hi CanadiaGirl,
Maybe someone already answered your question, but I was initially confused about this, too! The "NOA1 Date" you see people recording on the list is actually the date that USCIS receives your paperwork. It is not the date that you receive the NOA letter in the mail. So, for example, we received our NOA letter in snail mail on January 11th, but on the list under "NOA1 Date" we recorded the January 3rd "Receipt Date" that USCIS puts on the NOA letter.
So it looks (deceptively) like we received our NOA just three days after we submitted our packet. In reality, it took about 11 days for us to receive our NOA letter.
I hope that helps clarify things.

It's not callousness, it is just a division of responsibilities. He cannot know what she is doing or her intentions, so the thread is going a bit in circles because you can't solve a problem without complete information. What a ridiculous insinuation to make.

BOTH of you, please STOP misinforming people.
You get your 1-year GC extension with your NOA-1. Which, in fact, makes your GC valid for another year. You can work, drive, travel, do whatever you please. If the extension expires and your ROC ain't approved yet, you can go to infopass and get a stamp for another extension.
So stop posting the wrong information here.

I filed on April 17 (CSC), and still haven't heard anything. I was able to initiate a service request, since they told me they were working on April 18 filers. If you call now, they are just going to tell you to wait, and they will not initiate a service request.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Deferred action for childhood arrivals began in August and so you can see a sharp drop in I751 processing volumes as soon as that program began. I think they view ROCs as one of the lowest priority applications because our status is extended upon application. This is all well and good but the I really wish they would issue a temporary green card for the year instead of the rambling flimsy extension letter or the dinky I-551 stamp.
That way we wouldn't have to argue with airlines, foreign consulates and foreign border agents that yes, we are indeed US LPRs!
I don't count on this agency caring much about our problems though.

Actually, that's not a true statement. It says on the Form I-751 instructions on page 2, paragraph 'Evidence of the Relationship": "Submit copies of as many documents as you wish to establish this fact and to demonstrate the circumstances of the relationship from the date of the marriage to the present date".

CSC processing speed has dropped by 50% since July. Look at the data: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=15&office=2&charttype=1
Pull up the same chart for VSC and you will see that they have not dropped their completion rates.
No wonder VSC is catching up with CSC.

You don't need to. Just send the copy of her greencard front and back.

I just saw this. This doesn't make any sense. When you file for ROC, the NOA that comes in the mail extends your green card for one year.

For my husbands cell phone bill we added my name in the "bill to" address so the bills are sent with both our names, even though I'm not on the contract.
No need to re-register the car, or put him on the deed. You may buy a second car between now and then.
Is there a way for you to get out of this "check system"? i don't know what it is but if there's not try and get some sort of evidence of this fact.
The not joint insurance makes sense. Do you have Wills or Powers of Attorney made for each other? Do you have each other listed as beneficiaries to life insurance (I understand for you your daughter would come first).
**Edit - I do not agree with a lot of the suggestions made by the poster above me. Do not go into debt just to prove joint debt :S

This is a natural feeling experienced by almost all newcomer to a foreign country. I am a guy but I, together with other guy friends who joined the US military, felt this deep sadness in our heart when we left the Philippines and started military training in California. To us, it's a feeling of total strangeness. It's a complete turn around from the life we knew. We all thought the US of America was all "technicolor" like in the movies, and were very sad to find out that the Philippines was more colorful in a different way..ha ha ha..LOL.
This is where "husbands" or "fiancees" should be more understanding of their partners. Otherwise, this is a simple problem that could escalate into something serious. Many of us husbands erroneously think that we are bringing our wives/fiances to "paradise". Only to find out and realize that to some wives/fiances, this is not entirely true. Paradise to us may not be paradise for them as this existence could be thought of as "imprisonment".
But don't worry, you'd get over it. WE ALL DID!!! Or at least 99% of us did!...Go out and walk around the neighborhood. I am sure that there's a friendly face out there somewhere. Practice your spoken English. The more frequent you do it, the better your accent/intonation would be. Chinese, Mexicans, other nationalities who are not well versed in English as you are manage to be successful in the US. I am sure that you'd find your niche there somewhere.
    Good luck to you.

Someone on this site.... at some point in time.... erroneously used the word "activated" to describe the endorsement of the visa at the POE and the error has continued to this day. Saying you are entering the US to have your visa "activated" is like taking a cheque/check to the bank and telling them you are there to "activate" it. You don't activate a cheque/check... you endorse it. Likewise, a visa is "active" (valid) once it has been entered into your passport, and it remains valid until it expires. When you use your visa to enter the US you have it endorsed at Immigration. At that point it gets cancelled.
Don't tell the CBP Officer you are there to "activate" your visa. You will just sound silly and they will look at you funny. You are there to have your visa endorsed.
Okay, I've had my say. Carry on.

I would pay a million dollars to keep my fiance in my life. If I had it, which I don't. So, no, there is no amount of money that would cause me to even consider giving up my fiance. Not 1 million, not 10 million, not 100 million. I would never put money over people, but especially not someone so dear to me.
By these answers, I'm assuming 10% of people to be sociopaths.

I believe your answer lies here. What was the context of your husband's 4 hour interview? Most husbands I know do not specifically tell their wives "if someone ever shows up at home, don't let them in until you call me first". Everyone knows not to let strangers in their house. It sounds as if your husband was expecting unwanted company.
Also, why did you have size 18W clothing in your closet when you are a size 10?
Although all of these circumstantial things you have written may seem normal to you, they certainly don't to me as an outsider looking in.

    Couple of things.
Make a police report if you haven't already. Report her passport stolen to her countries embassy. She will need to get a new one and they'll probably put an alert on her current one. Report her SSN stolen to the SSA and consider putting a fraud alert on her credit because it sounds like they have everything they need to steal her identity. Go to the local SSA and get another one issued. I'm not sure what they'll need so ask (hopefully the NOA1 extension letter is enough). I'm sure you have the number or hopefully a copy somewhere so you'll be able to file taxes.
Report her GC stolen to USCIS. DO NOT apply for a new greencard. You will need to pay for it, and there's no need for it because you submitted copies with your ROC application and it's not needed to process her ROC.
Her permit is sufficient for ID purposes but if you're concerned go in and ask about getting a State ID issued. Please re-read the biometrics letter. It DOES NOT require the GC and instead just says ID.
Yep they will, for $450, but its not needed.

There is no NEED for this. The OP is filing for ROC and will receive their 10 year card eventually. once they get that they don't need the one that was stolen.

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum and currently I am waiting for the approval of removing conditions.
Just want to share some updates I have for CSC processing time. Yesterday I called USCIS and found out that right now the CSC is processing April 18,2012 applications. So if any of your case passed that day but still don't have any updates, you can definitely call them so that they can file a ticket for you.
