    It's my understanding that you don't lose anything. What you will receive is American citizenship, the US simply didn't recognise any other citizenship but they can't take it away, that's between you and Canada :jest:

Went to the building, took the elevator and went through security very similar to airports, I gave my appointment to the officer at front desk, wrote my name and literally after 10 min I was called with my name. Me and the officer went through my application, asking me questions regarding it, took language and civic tests, questions were peanuts. Later on I was handed the letter of recommendation and left.

     

    I thanked the officer for making my experience great and hit the road right at 0810.

     

    Eventho' I had rough drive (Around 8 hours ) but the recommendation letter really made my day.

    You know, I've always kinda assumed I would have to go to the Memphis office for my interview despite the fact that I have never ever been there before in this process - always went to Nashville office for biometrics and never interviewed before at any point in the process. Reading posts from others here, I'm now wondering if they'll ask me to go to Nashville for interview and/ or oath...

     

    From East Tennessee, Nashville is a 2-3 hour drive, compared with the 5 hr drive to Memphis. Guess I'll have to wait and see for that too.

    When we first applied for N400, we were told that we would be served according to our priority dates. But obviously, it wasn't the case as many applicants got their interviews after me had already become USC while I was still in-line for oath and of course I'm talking about Boston FO. I just wish that USCIS would be more transparent and consistent with their policy and procedures. At Boston FO, when applicants are approved, some of them are given the Oath letters right after but many are not. And those that are not have to wait longer than those that are despite being interviewed earlier. I guess the FIFO policy doesn't apply to USCIS. 

    IMO, the frustration starts when people start looking at what's going on somewhere and start comparing those timelines. It elevates expectations which courts disappointment. I think that cdneh and I, whilst very happy for everyone seeing movement, are pretty well reconciled to a 'c'est la vie' position :D

    Thank you everyone for the wishes. Also, I updated my previous post in a hurry so couldn't share the interview and the oath ceremony feedback. Since everyone has been so supportive, I feel like I should share it with everyone.

     

    My interview was scheduled this past Saturday at 8AM at Newark NJ office. The place is only a 30 minute drive from my place so I was there by 7 50 ready and all set. I brought in some additional proof (not all) - Please see the list

    1. Marriage Certificate

    2. Spouse's proof of citizenship

    3. Our Medical bills / explanation of benefits - randomly picked up (10 of them) that covered the last 2-3 years

    4. Proof my life insurance and 401k

    5. Proof of any trips that I made outside the US since I got my green card - i had boarding passes for some, and took itinerary copies for the rest

    6. Daughter's birth certificate

    7. Current travel documents (passport, gc, etc)

     

    When you arrive at the building, you need to go through quick security check and then head over to the 15th floor where USCIS office is. Once you get there, you're called at the counter and they ask you for your interview letter. They also ask you if you have an attorney. Since i filed myself, i just handed over my letter. They then ask you to sit and wait until your name is called. Around an hour later, my name was called and I was asked to come at one of the windows. The lady there asked me for my current passport, original valid current green card and other id (I showed license). She made copies of these, handed the originals back to me and asked me to follow her to one of the rooms. My spouse wasn't allowed there, i figured it was for my test. Once we got to the room, she asked me before you sit, please raise your right hand and say yes/no if I would speak the truth. Of course i said yes. Then I was asked to sit down and she took my fingerprints and picture to confirm my identity (if I was the same person who filed). Once that is done, she pulled up a big pile of paperwork (which was my file and had documents that i submitted from even 10 years ago for visitor visa for US) and went through my N400 questions again. She confirmed if i lived at the same place as mentioned and worked at the same place or if anything has changed. Once that was done she said we wil now start the test, she gave me a paper and told me to write "We have One Hundred Senators" (spell out 100). I wrote that and then she picked up another paper and started asking me questions from that. That paper already had  10 questions pre-printed and she went one by one and also ticked if I did right/wrong. She also kept documenting what I answered. I answered the first 6 and she stopped then and there she said you passed the civis test. Now from then, she told me that she would be recommending me for approval and congratulated me on passing the interiew. She never asked me any other document or supporting evidence other than what I had originally submiited with n400. She said I already have a huge pile from you that included your paperwork from my 2 previous countries so she doesn't need any. I left the room and went back to the waiting area for my name to be called again.

     

    After like 40 mins or so again, my name was called and i was asked to give away my GC and verify my name and other details on the citizenship certificate that was just printed. I was asked to sign and then was told that i would be getting it after the oath. For Oath I was asked to wait in the Oath Ceremony area where other people who had passed the test were also waiting.

     

    After like a 2.5 hour wait in that area, the ceremony began. I would like not to share the process of ceremony, but it lasted like 40 mins or so. RIght after the ceremony we were once again asked to check if anything was wrong on citizenship certificate as that could be corrected then and there for free. They mentioned if you leave and come back later today or next day, they won't accept and will ask us to go through offiical update/correction on Citizenship certificate that could take 9 months.

     

    That was it, it was a long long wait but glad its done. although the interview and oath ceremony itself isn't that long, the wait and the delay makes it time consuming.

    Massive congrats! It must be such a relief for you. Now you just need to get your US passport sorted :)

    To be honest Massawi, I haven't. We've had quite a lot going on that's kept me distracted, I'm relatively happy to wait it out. I've booked a trip home in July, if an interview comes up then, I'll reschedule it. It won't make any immediate difference to our lives, I'm 18 months into a 10 year green card so not feeling very pressured about it. I'll give it a few months more - if we get to August without hearing anything, might just get the senators involved. That's what we did after waiting 9 months for my initial green card, had a card 4 days later! :)

    Applied from New Jersey on October 29th. Biometrics on the 22nd of November of 2016 and was In Line for Interview since November 29th, 2016. Finally, the status budged on April 26th of 2017 that my interview has been scheduled. I am currently waiting to receive the letter in the mail with the date and will update my timeline when that comes in to keep others in the loop. Mother is also in-line for interview since March 6th of 2017, but her case got filed way later than me.
