Email/text yesterday morning. "We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice"

Fantastic news! Let me know what you get? I followed your example and signed up for informed delivery so I can see that USPS scheduled my letter for delivery on Monday but since we're still in the UK we had them hold the mail. I won't be able to open it until next Monday!

  2. Well guys, I'm leaving tomorrow for our trip. I'll be in the US until Thursday evening then leaving New York for the UK. I'll check in as much as I can but I hope you all get your approvals / interviews / oaths / notifications.@Ramz, I hope you managed to get all your paperwork and it goes smoothly from here on.

For myself, I hope that my oath letter comes with a date that's after I get back to the US :D

Write a cover letter when you have all your paperwork together and list what you are sending and what it shows. Put that in with your RFE letter and your collected papers.  :)

This! All day long. Explain to them what everything is... make life easy for them :dancing:

In other news.... just got a text...

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC*-------------- with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

You can do it Ramz! They have given you a long list of stuff there, but you have got a good plan in place to respond to their RFE. Please let us know how it goes today, o k?

I used a combination of credit card statements and utility bills Ramz. I think they're pretty flexible about what they will accept as long as it shows you're still together and living as married. Since nothing is proof of that, they will accept convincing evidence. I gave her my docs when she asked for mortgage statement - telling her I didn't know if they were what she was looking for but 'let me tell you what they show' kinda thing. She listened to me and accepted what I was saying. Two things I learned were of value to USCIS in removal of conditions were mail ant the address and mingled finances. As long as you can show your finances are co-mingled, you should be fine. Anything showing you at the same address is a bonus. She also asked me for my 2016 tax return (which I'd taken), but I could see she had room to make her own decisions about which documents are acceptable. Just be as confident as you can, send them in and keep your fingers crossed.

Ok, not an RFE. Not an Oath letter. It says it is an answer to my service request. Trouble is, I didn't file a service request.

It does helpfully say that their records indicate that I was scheduled to appear on July 12th and that I did appear. "No further action is required from you".

That's infinitely better than an RFE though... look at the list Ramz has been given! :o

Got the letter of request for evidence today ,asking for IRS transcript for 3 years , proof of living with my husband since we have been married for 3 years , lease or rentals for 3 years and my passport pages . I thought I summited all this when I filed and still did when I did the remove condition . The only one I didn't have was the tax cos I wasn't working until last year. But have gotten the transcript for last year and letter from IRS starting that I didn't file tax and there was not use of my SSN in 2014/2015. I'll go to the bank and see if I can get 3 years worth of statement if not I'll just have them write a letter and explain. Guess I got some work to do on Monday by gathering 3 years worth of envidence. The worst part is that I was only given till August 8 to submit it why I just got the letter today, wish me luck guys ... and congrats to everyone who's process is over can't wait to be done!

So sorry to hear you have to do all this Ramz - but ever onward, right? Gotta keep going..!

As it was written on the same day I was there, I would have thought they'd just have handed it to me.  I am thinking as this chap didn't go over my file, at all, never asked me anything that was on the application, didn't ask to see a blessed thing other than my GC, DL, and the letter they sent out to me, it might be an RFE.  I sure hope not.

 I see what you mean, we spent quite a bit of time on my file so I'm hoping that's the end of that part. I wouldn't assume the worst though and if it is a request, you've plenty of time to get something off to them since oaths look like they're going slowly. I'm still crossing my fingers for you though.

My son and his wife and baby are coming to stay with us for the first 2 weeks of September so, if the oath really takes 60 days to get to me, it could be slap bang in the middle of their visit. When I told my son, he said 'I'll buy a new suit' bless his English cotton socks... :D

I've had no text or email updates. What I have got is the photo of today's mail from my Informed Delivery. I am getting a letter from USCIS, dated the 12th, and sent out the 13th.

Oh boy. I wonder what's gone pear shaped now :/

Why wouldn't that be your oath date letter? That's what would come next,  right? I wouldn't set any store by not having an update,  I'm not sure they're on top of that! :jest:

Home from Memphis, all went well.

    Asked the following  questions:

1 Who was the first President

2 Who is the Governor of your State

3 What is one promise you make when you become a US Citizen

4 What movement tried to end racial discrimination

5 Where is the Statue of Liberty

6 Name two national US holidays

He said it might be 3 months before there is an Oath letter in the post, most likely in Little Rock. If they don't have one in that time frame. I'd go back to Memphis.

Jeez I'd forgotten it was Wednesday already, I'm missing a day this week! :o

Well done on getting through it! Told you it wasn't so bad! So relieved, such excellent news!

I agree Ramz - it is a very draining process. I hope you get approved soon too!

I found an app for the phone today, and they are all random in order. He's quizzing me all the time, lol, and every now and then I say something so ludicrous it stops him cold ...

"What is one thing  Benjamin Franklin is famous for?  Oldest guy in history to be struck by lightening!"  :D

I hope I'm not a wreck on the day! I know I will be just before, maybe once I actually get in there I'll settle. I cannot wait for next week, and get this over with!

Thanks heaps, you have relieved my mind :)

Just say he was a diplomat... simples. You. Will. Be. Fine. And afterward you'll be like 'what in hell was I worried about?'! I guarantee it.

Oh, that's excellent! Congratulations!!! Such a relief, and to think you actually crossed into AR without saying hello lol :D

You applied under the three years LPR, right?  I think I'm about 7 years now, so I don't suppose I would need to establish marital continuity. I hope!

Would be great to have the same oath ceremony! I'm still studying (gulp) Interviews make me nervous.

Yep you're right! They won't need anything from hubby because you're naturalizing in your own right (I think!) Don't be nervous, really. I had people go through the questions with me 1-100 and then pull them at random because I remembered the next Q in order, until I was pretty sure I knew them. I was very nervous last night (hence the beers ;) ) a little this morning - but not at all after a couple minutes in the office. Remember, they don't want you to fail - you just have to have enough paperwork not to make them feel nervous.

Sorry we didn't say hello lol!

    Shezi....how did it go!?!?!

Just got home from Memphis (phew!) - I passed!!!! She approved my application and said oath ceremony may be 60 days out. We might share a ceremony :jest:

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Beale Street (great location, would definitely recommend it.) Walked up to the office (10 mins) so I'd be prepared and then enjoyed a few drinks on Beale Street; great band in BB King's joint!

Appointment this morning: waited about 30 mins and then went in for interview. The field officer was awesome - we shared a few jokey comments so I felt really at ease. The questions were simple:

    1. What is one right or freedom  from the First Amendment?
    2. Who is in charge of the executive branch?
    3. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
    4. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them
    5. What is one reason colonists came to America?
    6. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

Got them all right - she talked through my application. Asked me if I'd brought a mortgage statement. Now here's weird - my name isn't on the mortgage (we would have had to refinance and didn't want to) -yesterday while I was getting ready to leave, it was niggling at me how to show 'continuing marital union' so (literally at the last minute) I pulled out utility bills with my name on them from 2013/2014/2015/2016/2017 and joint credit card statements (one each for the same years). I gave her those and told her the utility bills show I'm still at the same address and the joint credit card statements show that I'm still spending his money... she laughed and said they would serve. I only thought to take those at the last minute and I think they saved me! I'd taken all originals of copies sent - she didn't want to see them! She asked if I held any British titles, I said no but sometimes I think I'm a princess... she laughed. She asked a couple other light things and we chatted a while. She was really nice and she made it a totally pleasant experience. I could easily see though how the officers have real latitude and as long as you've satisfied them it's a formality. If you don't then that interview would have been a whole different experience. The trick is figuring out what will satisfy them!

I feel great - I'm on a high, we went to the Hard Rock and had a beer, drove over the bridge into Arkansas for kicks, then set off for home. Let me know if you want to run through anything.

As an aside, I'd posted a photo on FB to let the folks know and an ex colleague posted to say she had her citizenship interview today in Memphis, 2 hours after mine!!!

At this point, I would strongly suggest contacting your senator or representative. We did this when waiting for AOS to process since it ran long. The senator's office contacted USCIS to look into it, I had confirmation that my case had been approved the next day! Can't hurt.

    CHICAGO Backlog --- UPDATE

    Hello All,

Here is a quote from the email USCIS sent my congressman's office after I asked for help to see why my case is taking so long (received online message in early DEC 2016 that my case has been scheduled for an interview, no action since then).

Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter.  Our review indicates that this case is within our current processing time.  We are currently processing cases filed on June 24, 2016, this case was received on 10/04/2016. Once further action is taken, a notice will be sent to the address of record.

I guess I just have to wait.

Wow - you're right, if USCIS are saying it's still within their process time, no one will interfere. But blimey.... that just doesn't seem right to sit so long AFTER they've reviewed and scheduled an interview!
