Thanks for your recommendation, that would be ideal for me to stay closer to the office since it's just going to be me(husband will not be able to join me on that day due to finals week)!! I'm glad to hear that you had a pleasant experience at the Memphis office.

If you're going by yourself then I would definitely take cdneh's recommendation, whilst our hotel was ideal since we wanted to have some Beale Street time, the walk up to the Memphis office was only 5 mins but in that time, we were stopped a couple of times and hit on for  money. Definitely not an environment I would want to be in as a lone female.

Hello everyone!! Question to you Memphis peeps. Where did you stay for your interview? My interview is next month at 8:15 am and I live abut 4-hour drive from Memphis so I will have to stay the night before my interview. I'm a Feb 2017 filer, just incase you're wondering.

Hey there,  I'm 5 hours out, we stayed at the Hampton Inn on Beale Street, great value and very central, good luck with your interview!

Update: Received email from Ombudsman today saying the USCIS had made a decision on my case and because of that reason they will close the case as "Resolved." I called them right after receiving the email, and they told me to wait maximum 30 days for USCIS to contact me if they don't contact then Ombudsman's office will reopen the case and push USCIS again.

Later I called USCIS and spoke with a Tier-2 officer, and he notified me that the case has been in-line for oath since September 22nd, 2017. They will send me a letter as soon as they have an oath ceremony date. <_<

The Ombudsman's office called USCIS on September 20th, 2017 and Senators office called them on September 22, 2017. So can't tell which one helped. I can not be excited until I am done with oath ceremony, after all these years of experience with USCIS, I am sure of one thing that anything can happen with USCIS. ;)

    Yay! Keep us updated!

So, my interview was on 25th of May, 2017. Received RFE and returned all documents on 02nd of June 2017. Today it is exactly 120 days after the USCIS received my response for RFE. I am sharing the inquiries I did in the meantime, bottom line still waiting :wacko::angry:

    06/05/2017: Called USCIS-No resolution

07/06/2017: INFOPASS Appointment- Told to contact after 2 weeks

    07/07/2016: Called USCIS- No resolution

07/15/2017: Received Email from USCIS- No Resolution

07/25/2017: Request for Ombudsman case assistance

07/29/2017: Service Requested on USCIS Website

08/11/2017: Received email from USCIS saying they are unable to provide any details

09/20/2017: Email from Ombudsman, advised waiting 60 days.

09/22/2017: Submitted case query to Senator Schumer, acknowledged the receipt.

09/30/2017: Case status inquiry submitted to USCIS Website

    That's appalling!

I wrote an email to my senator on august 24th and today my case was updated.i don't really know if that happened because they contacted uscis or not.but I'm happy because after more rhan 120 days uscis finally approved me :)

It's always worth seeking help if your case feels like it's going nowhere! Congrats!

Of course and thanks for sharing this.could you please tell me what details toy had to send them.i assume alien number, receipt number ,name ?

Yes all the obvious things but we also included an outline of the timeline since filing / how long we waited / what's happened so far - that kind of thing. Both Senators' assistants were very nice and extremely helpful.

Hi @Ramz. Did you need to have travel plans (an international flight booked) to apply and get same-day in Miami? Do you mind sending the office details that provide same-day service?  Thanks in advance.

I believe there are 3 categories for expedited service, the first requires reason for travel and dates, the second just dates and the third requires no evidence. I took the 3rd option and applied through the passport acceptance facility at the post office, had my passport in hand on the 6th day!

    All done. :)

Great day, 30 newly minted USC from 15 countries. No judge at ours, just the head from USCIS Memphis. Our appointment was for 13:00, and we were all done in an hour. They really do have a very nice way of organizing it, and making it special, quite a lot of people were in tears at the end. I...am not a crier :) I could have cried when I saw the certificate, they used the photo from biometrics, rather than the passport pictures they wanted, and I have never seen a worse photo, of anybody!

We drove through the absolute worst weather the day before, for 20 minutes on the AR side of the river. I could see the yellow line on the side of the road, and the 18 wheeler next to me, but nothing else.

The Hotel, same one as last time, mysteriously upgraded us to the penthouse :D Very grand.

Glad to be all done and dusted. Well, except for a passport, the DMV, the SSN...

Congratulations! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! We had 40 from 18 countries around the world! Don't know if you saw my post above but passport arrived in 6 days, definitely worth expediting!

Shezi, did you apply for your passport through the post office, or is there some other way? I am thinking I'd like to do the expedited one myself.

I took it to the main post office that has a passport acceptance facility (Little rock has one) - they took a passport photo on site. They process in 3 weeks.
