got my passport. journey finished.

i used usps priority mail. cheap and effective. just get the option with tracking. a postbox is actually safer than someone signing for it.

regarding crime - you have to include it irrespective of how old it is and whether or not you were convicted. report what happened and get the court disposition papers.

regarding address - try to get the month right atleast. otherwise start keeping record now and then apply when u have the required years recorded.

im pretty sure married filing jointly usually gets the best returns.

we sent the following:

1 - wife birth certificate copy (she is the usc)

2 - marriage certificate copy

3 - 3 year tax return transcripts with joint filing status

4 - house deed copy

5 - last month joint bank statement copy

if you have joint kids, send their birth certificate copies and you should be all set with the list here plus that.

l1 period does not count. 3 years from the issue date of the very first green card minus 90 days is when you send your application in.

be careful, 90 days aren't exactly 3 months, some months have more days, others less

if you send it even one day early, the petition will be denied because it was sent too early

this is correct. besides i dont get all the fuss with trying to time these. just send them like.. 60 days in advance.

i didn't send any photos.

i sent:

joint tax return transcripts for 3 years.

joint bills

joint mortgage plus home deed

joint car loan agreement

photos just makes the packet heavy and isnt even good evidence.

do not let your 2 year green card expire. if it expires, you'll have to start all over again.

Had oath on 2/11. Now a US citizen.

Applied for passport.

I left blanks. Worked out OK.

Mate in the state of MASS we are very blessed to have a Department of State (Passport Agency Office)

The Boston Passport Agency office is 12 minutes walk on foot from Fenuil Hall (Located at TD Garden)

I booked an appointment with the Department of State on the phone same day as the ceremony. As soon as I received got the cert I walked to TD Garden.

To get a passport in Passport Agency you must have the Naturalization Cert , Proof of Travel and Appointment booked by phone in advance.

Ceremony finishes exactly in 2 hours so you could book the appointment at 2:30pm you will make it.

I applied for expedited COMBO Passport Book 52 Pages + Passport Card same day as my oath and give them booking that I am travelling to Canada within 48 hours. I got my passport card + book + cert in hand in less than 24 hours. I went there 2:30pm Thursday and received everything in my hand Friday 4pm.

Of course I have to pay expedited fees $60 additional

i dont have to travel anytime soon so i think im going to just go to the post office after the ceremony and get the regular service. it'll take some weeks but whatever.

think back to when you were 18, if at that point, any of your parents were us citizens, then yes you may already be one.

Our daily life related photos are not good enough and it is a bit too late to make up now if we go by 3 years rule.

photos aren't evidence in the n400 3 year packet. we didnt send any.

good evidence:

birth certificate of children

3-years of tax return transcripts showing joint filing status

joint owned bank account statements (we just sent for the prior month)

mortgage/leases showing joint owning/leasing

packet was much thinner than any of the previous ones.

so.. you may want to check UK and Belize law, because while the US doesnt care, those countries might (i dont know.)

for example indian citizens have to give up indian citizenship when they acquire us citizenship because india cares about that for some reason.

If you said no to 4 then leave 53 blank. Read the note before 53.

Just saw that my line status in the progress reports was updated to I am a US citizen in red!

A brief update - so i was not able to make my initial oath ceremony on Jan 21 as my wife was in labor and delivered a girl that night. So i wrote a letter to USCIS and sent back the notice with a copy of the birth record explaining why i was absent. Funny enough, 2 days after i sent the letter I received a notice for a rescheduled oath ceremony on Feb 4! They couldn't possibly have received my letter already and processed it?

My ceremony was at Fanueil Hall on Thursday and it was solemn, joyful and beautiful all at the same time. There were over 300 people for the oath ceremony with their families and friends. Ceremony took about 2 hours but it was worth it. Glad to be done with USCIS forever (hopefully)

My oath ceremony is this week. can i fill out a passport application online, but not submit it before the oath? or is that considered claiming a benefit meant for USCs?

it has no reference to k1 because k1 isnt one of the exceptions to the us source income rule.

this grey area you want to believe in doesnt exist. but whatever floats your boat. as you said, one can google whatever they want and then start believing it.

if you dont have it, u dont have it.

but, you dont have to send your application 90 days before. you can always just file taxes, use the return to file your application. its not necessary but vanilla applications are easier to process.
