  1. Yes save your money. VJ is your attorney, nicer, FREE and we do respond to post and email in a timely fashion.

I am sure dwheels is trying to be helpful but VJ is not an attorney. nobody over here is qualified to give you legal advice and even if someone is, it is not legal advice without a contract. people at VJ are ordinary very helpful people who have had experience in the matter. please don't take anything posted here as legal advice.

  2. if ur case is straightforward then u dont need an attorney.

it is very easy to get a joint account. u get married, u go to the bank and tell them u want to be joint. takes about 20 minutes. we did 3 banks in an hour.

i highly recommend getting joint accounts because co-mingling of finances is a very good evidence of bonafide marriage. much better than skype chat transcripts.

  3. The tuition money is being used for immigration's forms. We are having a tiny, tiny wedding performed outside with a few guests. We don't care much for pomp and circumstance. For what it's worth, my fiance has a bachelor's degree from his home country. He was here for graduate school. He will likely continue once all of this is said and done. It is simply much less cost-prohibitive for him to return to school as a permanent resident, which is better financially for our new family.

I wish you guys the very best of luck and a happy married life. File concurrent petition and aos immediately and don't leave the country till it is approved.

  4. He has to leave the country when 6 years are up if there is no GC process ongoing. I am pretty sure if his appeal is underway he can extend. Confirm with the employers lawyers.

Appeals can take anywhere from a few months to years.

If your employer simply files your 140, it is going to take a while because firstly they will need labor certification. you cannot work until you have atleast an EAD and based on stuff, that could take years. You will need other means of working like an h-1b.

Check your country's priority dates. If it is current, then you can file 485 immediately when 140 is approved. Countries like india and china have very long waiting lists. a few years that is. this also depends on the what preference the 140 is filed under. eb2 queues are shorter than eb3.

  5. I can't wait to find out how everything turns out for you. Be sure to let us all know :)

Don't worry ... She doesn't need to memorize your I-94# or SS# or A# or any of that. Just information about you and your family. (i.e. parents names)

in less than 24 hours u will know.

fortunately my parents came over and lived with us for a month and so did hers (at different times) so we know each others family pretty well and as far as any relationship question goes we are both well prepared.

  6. she knows the 130 for the most part, definitely all the answers on it except maybe my i94 number but asking someone to memorize that is too much. she also knows the i864 and i hammered in the whole adding intending immigrants income part till she was about to yell at me.

she gets nervous but doesnt show it because she laughs it off.. so.. hopefully we just dont get separated because then i can dig out any document.

  7. im going over all the documents with her and she seems to understand the basic process but i doubt she will remember all the names of all the forms and such.

she is a photographer and has already printed 180+ wedding photos and about a 100 others from whatever stuff we do. also will be carrying the fat wedding album and a "story of us" album that she has created.

document wise im golden, she is just not a person who concerns herself with documents and therefore has little confidence in being able to whiz out any required document on demand.

  8. Wife got approved on the spot! :)

we are at the lawrence office.

ouch i hope they dont separate us. my wife (usc) generally leaves all documentation and legalities to me, so i have actually prepared all the files and everything.. and now if they ask her to furnish documents alone she will get lost.. im training her to say "my husband has put together most of the files and im having difficulty finding something, can we please consult him".

  9. if you value your immigration process more than whatever situation is in india, don't visit right now. cap subject applications are done for the year.

im assuming a close relative is unwell and i hope they get better, but there is skype. rectifying cases like these are too much trouble.

in theory what ur lawyer said makes sense. you can revisit in september and get stamped, but its adding a layer of risk.
