Dewave2 got a reaction from user19000 in Filing for VAWA without a lawyer.
I haven't contacted the British Embassy. Do you think this is something I should do?
As for returning to England. Although I currently don't have a lot in America, I have even less in England now. I left absolutely everything behind in England. I don't have anywhere to live there, no bank account, no job, no car, no money, no family support, no real friends to speak of. I left absolutely everything, and risked it all to be with the women I loved. I brought every last piece of finance I had available after we married over to the states, so that I could help support us through the adjustment period. A return ticket would also cost money that I dont have.
So as for my reasons for filing: I've never felt like a victim in my life until now. I want to file knowing that I didn't deserve anything that happened to me. I also want to know that I am free to return to this country whenever I see fit. As I was forced to overstay by 6 months after my marriage as my wife purposely delayed the paperwork being complete, I didnt deserve everything that happened during and after this, so I want to know that I can return and leave when I want, and not when determined by the actions of an abuser. Secondly; because Im here. If this had happened anywhere else, I would be staying there too. Its not a 'Because Im in America' thing, its because I'm currently here, so I have more chance of coming through this here, than if I was to go back to England. If I somehow made it made to England, Id just be homeless the second I stepped off the plane.

If you don't want to be caught lying, the best advice I can give is to not lie. It's not worth it. I would just mention the savings, and if they deny it, then unfortunately just pay it out of your savings, and work hard to put that money back into your savings.

Im learning that Im never going to have a clue when anything is coming at this rate. I was hoping that getting all the paperwork in would make me feel much better. In fact its turning me into more of a nervous wreck than I was before!

Dewave2 got a reaction from easydoesit in Now I've filed, am I able to fly within the US?
    Hi guys,
So everything has been filed, I went to my biometrics yesterday and now it's the waiting game. I do have a question though. As I was in overstay whilst we gathered the file together, I didnt use any planes as I didn't want to risk anything. Now I'm in the middle of adjusting, am I able to fly within the states without any problem? I didn't file for travel authorisation with our paperwork, as I had no need to return back home. I do now however need to go to New York next month, and I really don't fancy driving there from LA.
Obviously if it's not possible, driving it is, but thought I would ask

I won't make any comments regarding there abuse that you have stated.
However, my only advice would be pack your bags and go home. Is staying the US, more important than your life itself? If his abuse is as bad as you say, forgot living in the US, its not worth more than your life! Go home, be with your family and friends, and forget about the possibility of a relationship with this human being.

Dewave2 got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Very VERY confused regarding my entry/exit dates...HELP!
It worries me too, hence why I opened this thread.
However, I guess ultimately there is nothing I can do about it now. Hopefully whoever gets the forms will be able to tell the difference between a clean entry and a re-entry based on a holiday that took place with my partner, who I came here to visit. As I would't have gained any advantage by going leaving for Mexico for a week. If my our intentions were not pure, then I'm sure we would have just got married before we left for Mexico, or just not gone at all. As far as I can tell, there would be no benefit to someone with less than pure intentions to leave for Mexico and then come back on a VWP and then get married a week after getting back.
I guess all I can do is keep my fingers crossed that this also comes across as the case to whoever goes through the paperwork. Especially as I shouldn't have ultimately received a new stamp when coming back into San Diego, so therefore I will make this as clear as I can in the supporting writing I provide, and that for me, and legally as far as my knowledge provides, my 90 days started when I entered on October 20th, and this hasn't been changed by the stamp I received at San Diego.
I will obviously let you all know how it turns out!
    Fingers crossed!
