GandK got a reaction from --- in When should I have a Senator petition on my behalf?
The others are right. My K-1 interview was approved today and there is one single truth I have learned in the last 7 months. It is this
There is no one or no way you can speed up this process unless you have a valid reason for expedite criteria. The sooner you realize and accept this, the better you will be off during the waiting.
I wasted a lot of energy and emotional strength to be sad and depressed. Looking back, I would accept that it will take as long as it takes and try hard to find something productive to do and distract my mind.
Your senator and congressman cannot petition on your behalf. They can inquire on your behalf.
Speaking from experience, unless your case is beyond normal processing time (still 5 months I believe) Your congressman office will not even write to USCIS, they deal with this kind of request daily and they know all too well that the USCIS will not even bother looking at your case unless it is beyond processing time.
If your case is beyond published processing time, your congressman office can inquire your case status for you. The USCIS has an obligation to response to an congressional inquiry within 48 hours.
However, they don't get better answer than you will. All we got was, we will hear from the USCIS within 30-45 days and that is IT and your congressman cannot do anything further.
The talk about congress inquiry "putting pressure on the USCIS" is an urban myth. Most people who contact their congressman had their case way overdue and was about to get case decision anyway. People associated this fortunate coincidence with unsupported fact.

It amazes me why a lot of people here think they need to fight weapon with bigger weapon. Why not just take the weapon away from the scene? Why try to treat the symptoms rather than curing the disease itself?
We are no longer in the cold war.
I guess I will never understand since I live in a socialist country where I don't have to be afraid of anyone coming in a theatre with an assault rifle, maybe a pocket knife, assault rifle?, nope.

You have nothing to worry. I have been in and out the USA 4-5 times in the last couple of years without any problem.
Only the last trip did I have some proof of ties with me (letter from school and work) but they still didn't ask for it.
Sometimes, little too much knowledge (and horror stories on the internet) makes you worried for nothing.

I know the feeling. The wait is hard but it will end.
I know a lot of people have got married on tourist visa and adjusted status successfully but everyone's story and circumstances are different.
What kept us from doing it that way and from getting frustrated hearing about people who took shortcut that way is suppose there is a 1% that your AOS on tourist visa will be denied and maybe I'd get banned for misrepresentation.
Would you bet your entire future on that 1% odd?
We wouldn't because the consequence will be catastrophic for us. Even the risk is low, it is still not worth it.

Hmm..so if there was someone in the theatre who also carried a pistol. Suppose he took out his gun and shot the Killer.
Imagine another guy who also had a gun who didn't see who started shooting first saw the guy with a gun who just shot the first guy. So he began shooting at the second guy.
And then the third guy, and fourth guy, and more people joined the shooting in panic.
Last time I checked it is dark in a theatre, no?
Then it turned out a lot of people in the theatre had guns, everyone drew out their guns in panic wanting to "protect themselves".
So that is the American mentality, huh? Living in fear? Armed to the teeth?
Now I see why there is so much wrong with the country. Next time they should hand out a handgun to everyone who buys popcorn in a theatre.

I think the stages involved go like this
    1) Disbelief, they don't believe that you are actually really really going to move to another country. Most of the response I got was "You are moving to Hawaii?!? No waaaay"
    2) Denial, they keep denying the thought of you leaving and hoping that you might change your mind before the departure date. "My mom kept preaching me for months about how great my opportunities are here and how difficult it will be for me to live in a new place without job, without friends, really painting a picture of miserable future.
    3) Acceptance and planning, now they have come to accepted that you are definitely leaving and there is nothing they can do to change your mind. So they start planning trips to visit you

My mother definitely wants me to stay in Denmark but I already made up my mind very long time ago that the lifestyle here doesn't not suit me.
My father and most of my family are in Thailand, my mom and younger brother are in Denmark. My older sister lives in Chicago and now I am moving to Hawaii.
Guess we are pretty global. The world is much smaller than it used to be.

No offense but for some countries, Nigeria is one of them, I doubt you will easily get a visitor visa exactly for the reason you said. People get visitor visa with the intention to migrate to the US and then abuse the visa and try to adjust the status.
Don't know about you but I don't like to bet my entire future on the fact that my AOS application is "most likely to pass through the normal process".
You know what VISITOR visa or STUDENT visa is for?
Each visa is specific to the purpose of the visit and your situation.
It's because of people speculating and trying to circumvent the system that makes this process long and difficult for legitimate people who do things the legal and right way.
