1 of the offences being when you was under 18 and the fact that you had no problem travelling on the VWP has to be a good thing but i dont know enough about immigration law or policy to say how much these things will affect your visa petition. all i can tell you is that you need to get a 'public access request' and 'memorandum of conviction' and that you MUST be totally honest on all the forms that you fill in and at the embassy during the interview. also because you need the police certificate for the medical (they will ask you what offences have been stepped down) you MUST be honest with them too. you will be given a questionnaire to fill in and one of the questions will ask if you have ever abused drugs but what it is really asking is have you ever taken drugs... so you must answer yes.
    godspeed

for MAD1974, since you have 3 people you'll be taking 3 extra bags, 1 per person i would definately pay for the extra baggage online then at an airport since they jack up the prices there since they know you cannot just leave them, so flying with aa and ua the charges were about 35 pound per bag so woul comes to 135 total, from my experience at least. it does depend on the airline

Immigration/brown envelope stuff is before you pick up luggage.
Customs: You get a form on the plane. Write household goods on it, no list and no value. That's what CBP told me to do. We had six bags between us. There is no duty bringing your possessions when you immigrate.
If you are bringing gifts, liquor, cigarettes, duty free shop purchases, etc then itemize and value them because they are new items.

Well, we are moving back to the UK. Not for any of the reasons listed above but because Glyn's Dad is ill, and older and he just misses his family. He really loves it here in New Hampshire as do I. Saying that though, we both love England. A general statement that one country is better than the other is unfair....both countries are beautiful in their own way...and both have MAJOR problems. I feel really lucky to have the option to live in either place.

No, because you as a citizen should do everything in your power to make sure you or your family are not economic burdens to the US.

To the Glory of the Almighty God, It is a real blessing to report to everyone that our interview was a success. SPECIAL THANKS to the VJ'ers as well because the process wouldn't have been this easy for us if not for your questions, responses, reviews, prayers and advice. A full review will be provided once I return back to the U.S. Once again Thanks and May God bless you all abundantly

He sends an original (with his signature in ink) Form I-134 Affidavit of support. He sends two proofs if his income. If he chooses (as one proof) to have his employer write a letter stating his employment details and current salary, then that letter should be an original on company letterhead with an original ink signature. If he chooses to use his tax return, photocopies suffice. He can order tax transcripts right now for free from the IRS. He doesn't have to wait around for your interview before he gets these things collected and mailed over to you.
For the interview, read the list of what London wants here http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html
Notice it doesn't say USC's birth certificate or divorce decrees, or the NOA2 approval notice, or a copy of your I129F petition, or proof of your relationship. That list is really all the evidence they require and it's all about the Brit at the embassy.

I have been reading the whole thread and in no way an expert, but from what I can tell if it is true that Jamaica is currently a hotbed of immigration fraud then potentially the couple of other posters who have specifically said they may think its because the authorities thought it might be fraud, may be correct on the basis of the fact you HAVE known this person a while. I note a couple of points you have raised which may raise red flags
1)the starting point that you yourself only arrived in the U.S ten years ago (so I assume are not a citizen originally??) combined WITH
2)the fact you have this one photographs of you boths eight years ago....they might take this to mean you were already associates and one might now be doing the other a favour, if combined WITH
3)not enough evidence being shown on the day.
I think possibly mentioning your previous ties and mentioning your inability to maintain the relationship at that time MIGHT have actually made them look a little bit closer at your case. Now perhaps if there had followed an over compensation by providing LOTS of evidence of a true relationship now, you may have been okayI m not sure if this helps any or helps you to figure how to approach it from hereonin but it does seem to have been the case and until you see the piece of paper outlining what their problem was you're back to square one- well, not quite, perhaps you can appeal??

Don't expect a "packet" from London. You get a letter saying your file has arrived and a link to their instructions on a webpage. I gave you that link in another reply to you. That is your "packet". Don't wait on it to get started working on your forms, ordering police certificste, getting free shots from NHS before the medical exam, and getting the I-134 mailed from the US.

Who is "he"? The Brit or the USC?
The embassy part is all about the Brit (aka beneficiary.) It is the beneficiary's forms, documents, and passport photos (not mailed in--read the London instructions). No "us". The US citizen only supplies the I134 Affidavit of Support with proof of income.

    Hi!
I have been so blessed the past few days. I arrived here in the States safely, I just got married, and just today, I had my first job interview and was accepted!
Now...here's my issue...I didn't think I'd get a job right away. I just recently applied for my SSN, and I'm just going to apply for my EAD...my work starts next Monday. Can I go ahead and work? It's just that this is such a big opportunity for me.
    Thanks for the replies!

Nope. Never ever plan on anything until the visa is in your hand.
Repeat......Never ever plan on anything until the visa is in your hand.
You have to follow all the steps in the proper sequence. No the K-1 is not a marriage license (you get the certificate AFTER you are married, before you get a License).
Expediting is dependent on your local county clerk.....call them, they are nice people and will tell you what option you have.
