  1. Link 1: And what group of people is behind this massive amount of homicides of black males ages 15 to 34 in 2013? Who is killing all these young black men?

Maybe the police? Since you've just admitted that guns aren't killing black young men.

Or as you phrased it, what is the "root cause" behind all these deaths?

What's so funny is, you're trying your best to twist this because you don't want your guns taken away. You can't have it both ways.

Just some friendly advice. Since this forum is going to be lacking black members(pretty sure there's only 2, maybe three here at most) maybe you shouldn't bring up black issues in a place that 98% white. Especially since it's usually in a negative light to being with. If you want to bridge that gap, learn about the subject matter. Educate yourself before speaking, that's half the battle. Empathy also helps. Because it's going to be suspect when you or other members obsessed with BLM are talking in a space devoid of anyone even related to black people and our issues.

  2. Hillary says things like we "don't need weapons of war on our streets", and "Too many families in America have sufferedand continue to sufferfrom gun violence. Its the leading cause of death among young African American menmore than the following nine causes combined. America cannot go on like this." (See my comments below)

    But here's some facts, Jack:

"It's a chilling reality one often overlooked in annual mortality statistics: Preventable medical errors persist as the No. 3 killer in the U.S. third only to heart disease and cancer claiming the lives of some 400,000 people each year. At a Senate hearing Thursday, patient safety officials put their best ideas forward on how to solve the crisis, with IT often at the center of discussions.

Hearing members, who spoke before the Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging, not only underscored the devastating loss of human life more than 1,000 people each day but also called attention to the fact that these medical errors cost the nation a colossal $1 trillion each year.

"The tragedy that we're talking about here (is) deaths taking place that should not be taking place," said subcommittee Chair Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in his opening remarks."

My comments below: Now, I could not find any stats on the percentage of blacks vs. whites about this, not sure if it's actually documented, but even if you assume that only 5% are black (and I believe that is EXTREMELY conservative), that's 50 blacks killed every day by malpractice. Therefore, guns are NOT the leading cause of black deaths in the USA today.

    http://www.cdc.gov/men/lcod/2013/whitemen2013.pdf

    Just some food for thought.

From 15 to 34, homicide is the leading cause of death for black men. Murder doesn't even get to 10% in your category. We have babies that have to worry about getting killed. Malpractice isn't murder, unless you can produce evidence that shows doctors high fiving each other after a black person dies on the OT. Or email trails that show doctors are deliberately trying to kill us. This is evident in police departments.

I know you guys want to keep your guns, but this merry go round of blaming everything except the root cause has got to stop.

  3. It's sad I went in to a "Tirade" about media not portraying black people more positively.

    Really.

What does that have to do with this subject

You didn't respond in your own thread, so I wanted to get you out in the open. You can't resist my charm!

I'm not sure why you replied to my question to another poster with this, but I can only assume you are directing it at me. So I'll respond to you.

Who was upset about who replied for whom? My spouse isn't the kind to hang out on Internet forums, particularly not one like CEHST. In fact, you're one of only 3 people in CEHST who have ever talked to her. If you have something to say about her, feel free.

We have no control over the mods actions, hence this thread in the first place. Truth be told, probably a LOT more of the threads in CEHST should be deleted, not just closed. Heck, I think it would be best for this site, revenue aside, for it to be terminated.

Can you provide a single link where I suggested ANYONE should be banned from the US? The only thing I have ever said that could be remotely skewed like that is that illegals shouldn't be allowed when there is a process for folks to get here legally, as this site and 99% of it's members advocate. I don't appreciate your accusation, but I am sure that if there is ANY truth to it, you or Marv will be along with a "receipt" real soon proving me wrong.

LIB wasn't my "friend", any more than you, Marv, Teddy, MBD, Penny, Harpa, et. Al. He was a regular, long-time poster who predated many of us in CEHST. And anytime someone is banned from that forum, a piece of the group is gone. From either side of the polarities involved. Without differing opinions, and the opportunity to learn about why others think the way they do, CEHST will become boring, with everyone just agreeing with everyone else.

That's the issue. How can you NOT see the bias against people of the Muslim faith? Not only was it posted in plain sight, but if I recall correctly(I do) you made a direct reference to my former religion to Nazis. And my wife has that receipt. But, we're trying to show you that's not the way to go about it. You said you're willing to learn, then show us you're willing to grow and understand Muslims are not the enemy.

You are saddened by his "passing". Not a friend, but someone that you clearly miss. I miss Penny, Novembro, MBD, Spooky because they were cool posters. And once again, I've stepped to them if I saw something that didn't sit right. Because it keeps the mods off our backs. Hell, I kind of miss Danno, but as much as we tried to keep him straight, he went the same path as LIb. Kept going until there was no more room left, even though he was warned.

  4. It's funny how I have to be brought up everywhere  Like, what does it have to do with this conversation?

Who's talking about you? I didn't name anyone. But, since you're here, maybe you can give those qualifications for racism. Since, you know, we minorities tend to deem things racist when they're not. Would love to get the official list from you.

And I'm sorry that you didn't take the time to do the research before you threw out this inaccurate statement. But since you asked for receipts:

Let's see. LIB posted, and I quote: ]

"No Guns for Negroes " exposes the racist history of American gun control laws. Every person who supports gun control laws must be shown this film or gun ownership will cease to exist in America.

Even LIB was saying that gun control was racist, because it excluded blacks from getting guns!! And the end result of that, as YOU YOURSELF have said before, is that it has brought the laws-abiding black citizens down, right? And why would this be important to America as a whole? Because if keeping guns from a certain group is bad for a certain group, then the SAME RESULTS can be expected for America as a whole.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/585698-no-guns-for-negroes/

Talks about law biding black people and being denied owning guns. Which was funny, because I said this a while ago, and got ridiculed by the same member. Not criminals or thugs. Why did you think it did? Tell you what let's come back to that. So here's one, let me find another one.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Are you saying the teen referred to in this article NOT a thug/criminal? A cop kills a criminal, a gang member, somoene who could have just as easily killed the cop, and you are upset because several people called it for what it was? You should be happy this punk was apprehended/killed so he cannot take out more innocent people. And you know the reference to the president goes back to the Trayvon Martin killing, when he made a comment that was pretty silly, saying TM could have been his own son. Bad choice of words on Obama's part. It's not that LIB was trying to say the president is the same as this thug (your own words, so I guess you DO think the subject of this post was a thug.) But that's not the main point to that thread, is it? It's that a criminal was put down, he was black, and you don't like it because several in there called it for what it was. Yet you focus on LIB's comment?

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/592499-chicago-police-shot-and-kill-teenager/

What about this one here? A criminal. Hood rat he calls them. The President's son he says. He relates this thug to the man who is the Commander in Chief. Because that makes sense. But it's strange, his page is completely locked and his history gone, because there's so much more. But nothing strange about that...

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, can't see eye-to-eye with you on this one. I am firmly against sharia law myself. It's not like they are tortururing or putting to death criminals and thugs who break the laws we have here in America. No. They attack, torture, and kill people who do things like sell alcohol? Or the many women who have been stoned because someone raped them? Or "honor killings"? Mostly against women, it seems. I am actually upset that sharia law is being allowed to be used here in America at all. Most states have banned it. Let's see how well it works out where it has been allowed. Only time will tell...

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2014/05/28/in-pakistan-honor-killings-claim-1000-womens-lives-annually-why-is-this-still-happening/

    http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2014/10/28/punished-for-being-raped-the-burden-of-women-under-sharia/

She's upset because all he did, day in, day out, was attack Muslims and black people. Period. I said it. Not go against our message, but call our own existence into question every chance he got. As a Muslim, I had to hear about my horrible religion from not just him, but some others. I was accused of suffering from Stockholm Syndrome:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/592583-60-year-old-christian-woman-publicly-caned-in-indonesia-for-breaking-sharia-law/page-2

    -----------------------------------------------

We cannot discuss it if there is no proof of what someone said or did not say. This again, as I implied to J above, becomes hearsay/personal attacks against another. I don't doubt your word that the thread once existed, but just as you took some of the above stuff the wrong way, it could have happened below. Perhaps if, as you say, the mods were disgusted by what he said, they deleted the thread? IDK

But my favorite low was when Lib basically said the SC shooter was ok for killing those black church goers because of black men raping white women. Even more of the most chilled mods was disgusted by his comment. Of course, this thread is gone, again odd.

    ------------------------------------------------

Or perhaps he backed away because anytime somoene (who isn't black) doesn't agree with your POV, he/she runs the risk of being called a racist, and that is a bannable offense. It's a two-edged sword, cutting both ways. The difference is, you can say whatever you want about how bad you have it, but it's walking on thin ice to try to counter your claims.

There's so much more, but it looks like the more extreme ones aren't in plain sight anymore. And every time Janelle engaged with him, he made it a point not to say something. Which is what's expected.

    ------------------------------------------------------

Well, here's the thing about that... Obama making it to the top is a good thing for himself, at least, and maybe for blacks overall. If something positive comes out of it for your POC, then that is great. But at the end of the day, not all of us see him as a good president the way you do. In fact, speaking of keeping receipts, I recall you calling ME racist for daring to say he wasn't a good president. Accused me of only saying that because he is black. Totally untrue, of course, but that's what you said. (Sorry, no link. But like you, I remember stuff too sometimes) But I tend to agree with NB... The media focuses on the negative. As I said before, it's all about "selling news", and a black man overcoming adversity and making a good name for himself just isn't nearly so dramatic as the thugs shooting up Chicago today. And it IS sad that's the way it is. If the media focuses on the negative, then people will continue to think negative things. That's human nature.

It's sad that NB went into a long page tirade about how positive black people aren't getting credit and the worse of us are uplifted. The best role model any black person can have, a man who has multiple degrees, married to the most awesome black woman(Janelle and Oprah are 2nd and 3rd) in the world, has two great daughters, been nothing but fiyah since day one, is the living embodiment of class, grace, and swag, oh yeah, he was elected President of the United States, twice, and he's the black man some of you can't stand, a good chunk of you don't even believe he's an American citizen or he's a secret Muslim. Like it matters.

    1. Um, that's what I said. I was replying to your crazy statement that J wants thugs and criminals armed.

    2. He made a point to say this is Obama's son. TM was a black male, Obama is a black male. His statement was accurate. The fact that folks couldn't discern this is an issue.

    3. At what point did I EVER say I wanted Sharia law here or anywhere for that matter? Talk about disrespectful. I was no more violent because of it. Religion is what YOU make it. But to be told that I'm a horrible person because of a religion...

    4. We can talk about it because I stay bringing receipts, when/if I find it, I'll be sure to bring it here.

    5. But I do have the receipts for what I said about Obama and not liking him is racist:

    Actually,

If you are voting for Trump because you're against Hillary lying, but completely cool with Trump lying, you might be a sexist.

If you think Obama is a dictator for saying he has a pen and will use it, but was rooting when Putin took the Ukraine, you might be a racist.

Keep trying though, I like the challenge!

Please don't perpetuate the use of this lazy and inane insult.

Sorry. Once again, keeping me in check. See how easy that was!

  5. Sweet! We do not have any corresponding McDonald's traditions in the US for moon viewing but I think we should. We do have the McRib sandwich which corresponds with low pork prices and the McShamrock shake which corresponds with an unfortunate feeling of dread if you view your stool color the day after. Do you still have black hamburgers? I have a hard time getting behind black-tinted food.

    blackburger.jpg?ve=1&tl=1

Really? That's what you're rolling with?

    Reported for racism. :ranting:

  6. 5 seconds if she's cute. If she's beautiful I do the talking while he turns his head. I LOVE BEING A CABA!

That's 5 seconds with a 3 second margin of error...

regardless of personal opinions people will always make value judgements based on appearance, that goes for the beautiful and the not so

I am overweight - therefore first impression is that I am lazy, unmotivated and not very intelligent, therefore I need to work harder, do more, prove my intelligence, same as a person of color must do.

She is beautiful, and curvaceous but she is also upping the presentation through dress, I see curvy women who do not appear to have their clothes spray painted on every day, she is gilding the proverbial lilly, she can still express her sense of fashion without form fitting attire.

I do not care if I am singular in my opinion, and yes I do think she is narcissistic and not the victim of overly developed curves

Nothing wrong with rocking what God gave you. I think as long as she's doing her job and it's effective, she is good. Fact is, folks aren't mad about her clothes, they mad about her shape.

Also, nothing wrong with loving yourself. She is fierce with it, and even though she's been reprimanded for it, my only thing is now scrutiny is going to be a big part of her life.

  7. You sound experienced at giving compliments. I need to see you in my office at home. ???

Anyway, you better not be giving compliments???? good to see you are making it through my very strict rules. Living under a CABA isn't easy??

What can I say? I'm nice like that. That military discount question can either work in or against me, just saying...

What chapter of the CABA handbook are you at with Marv?

Chapter 3. Speaking to women about work or customer service. I get 10 seconds to get my point across...

and that's my point, modesty is appropriate in certain circumstances, in the classroom is one of them. Personally, I think she has a rocking body, but that's all I see (That could be on me), I do not see a gifted teacher, I see a beautiful women that wishes to show off her body. My X wife had a beautiful body but dressed in a manner that was reflective of her work environment.

Unless you're in the classroom while she's teaching, you can't make that kind of judgment call. As for the last comment, whoa...

You're teaching him good Janelle! I bet Marv is looking forward to chapter 5 "Boys night out my behind" and my favorite chapter 7 "Sports are yucky let's go shopping".

Lucky in both regards. We don't go out here without each other, and she hates shopping!

  8. Wow! It also says he was assaulted by someone the day before he committed suicide but they gave no further details. Wondering was it sexual in nature.

Good lord look at what Islamophobia did to this guy.

I'm going to get on FB and write something when I get home tonight. There are a lot of comments that are disturbing to say the least.

  9. It's football season, and it's homecoming week. So all week, there is some type of dress up day. Yesterday was Wednesday...Wacky Wednesday. Dress as wacky as you want.

I try to be funny and compliment people who are participating by wearing mismatched clothes. "Hey, I've never seen you look better." Things like that.

So, I pass by a new teacher and throw out, "Hey, looking good today." Then, I realize, she's not participating, she's just wearing a dress with really bright floral patterns.

I'm waiting to get called to HR.

I learned this a long time ago. When you compliment a woman in your workspace, there's a way to do it without coming off creepy, but it's not exactly easy.

I don't do this now since I'm with J (I enjoy breathing and WITSEC doesn't move fast enough if she's gotten hold of the lady's SSN) but, if you take the time to follow up your compliment with an observation that adds to it.

Like say, she has a nice dress on. Instead of saying looking good today, you should take a good look at her accessories. Like that color with your earrings really brings that to life. Then you smile and leave. That way you don't linger and look like a stalker. Nothing wrong with being nice, just be mindful of how you come off. That can make all the difference.

Disclaimer. No one on the island of Oahu has ever gotten this kind of compliment from me. That is all.

  10. Look, there's really no way a woman can win this. Our very being out in the world in whatever shape we happen to come in or be in at a particular moment in time will invite comments. Too sexy. Too prudish. Too fat. Ugh, eat some food. Your neckline is so low, it's unprofessional. Why are you wearing a shapeless turtleneck when you're so gorgeous? Your hem is too short. Your hem is so long you look like you escaped from a polygamist cult. Your long hair is inappropriate for the workplace. A woman shouldn't have a short haircut -- do you want to look like a man? Wow, must suck to be flat-chested -- nobody wants to see that. Wow, you really need to keep your cleavage under control -- nobody wants to see that.

Being a woman is for better or worse a provocative statement. There is no way to win the game, particularly when women choose to take part in passing judgment on other women's bodies.

    Sums it up perfectly.

ha! i do, you can't hear them???

    Nope,

Post the pics from the old Batman shows. Like POW! BLAM!

  11. i don't see any outfit in those pictures that are inappropriate. as long as she's following the dress code, she can't help how her body fills out the clothes she's wearing. if you crack down on her for form fitting clothes, then you'll have to also crack down on overweight employees who don't wear baggy clothes to hide their rolls..

Talk about a clean hit. You and J should add sound effects to your replies.

  12. maybe, I am old fashioned and a prude, I grew up in catholic schools, nuns are shapeless, sexless and ageless. If she looks too provocative, I think it's incumbenton her to tone it down.

I grew up when our teachers weren't nuns, but never was crushing on ANY of them. Ewww.

It's not provocative if it fits within the rules. You can't help it if you're built like that. Especially when your profession says you as a woman have to dress a certain way. If she was a bean pole and had the exact same clothes on, no one would make a big deal out of it.

    • A drill instructor ordered a recruit to get inside a clothes dryer and yelled questions at him, including demands to reveal his religion and whether he was a terrorist. When the instructor found the recruit's answers unsatisfactory, he turned the dryer on to burn the recruit. According to the documents, a Marine official described the incident as clear verbal abuse.

The same recruit was forced to crawl between the beds in a barracks, pretend he was exploding and yell, "Allahu Akhbar," which is Arabic for "God is great."

Recruits were denied food and hygiene.

A recruit who passed out was denied medical attention.

A drill instructor forced a recruit to do his college homework and exams for American Public University, a for-profit online institution based in Charles Town, W.Va., with a large military enrollment.

A recruit from Britain was called a terrorist and offered $2,000 to run around the parade deck naked while being videotaped.

  13. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/marine-hazing-probe-found-toxic-command-culture/ar-BBwaK9w?li=BBnb7Kz

I think J and NB were talking about this last week. Looks like there's more to the story...

Investigations into alleged hazing and maltreatment of recruits have found evidence of a toxic command climate at the Marines' training center at Parris Island, S.C., going back more than two years, according to Marine documents reviewed Wednesday by NBC News.

Detailed results of the investigations — one of them reviewing the alleged suicide of a new recruit in March — have been forwarded to prosecutors for "drafting of charges as warranted," according to one of the documents.

The Marine Corps said last week that the inquiries focus on three platoons of the Third Recruit Training Battalion. It said 20 training personnel had been "identified for possible military justice or administrative action," confirming a report by NBC News that the personnel — a mix of drill instructors and officers — were directly involved in hazing or had ignored evidence that it was going on.

  14. the mere fact that it stirs controversy implies that it is perhaps inappropriate. I feel the teachers should be held to a higher standard in dress and behavior, there was a pedophile middle school teacher close to where I live that had several teacher of the year awards but ended his career with over 75 counts of inappropriate behavior. Success in your profession does not free you from conforming to the expected norm.

I think the shape of her body is what's causing the issue. Looking at her outfits, most of them look like regular business attire. As the better half said, if you can see prints, it's an issue. But in most of them, she's just regular clothes that are highlighted because of her curves.
