  1. My dear sister, Africa is beautiful and it's honestly a very rich country...If you are a part of the Government eating the money. Otherwise there is poverty everywhere. It's truly a third-world country with good proud poor people (we don't know poverty the way they do. I'm saying this to say He may very well be able to pay for his birth certificate, police report even his physical but the mound of the cost will be paid by you. Our government wants the money before they do anything else..like open links so that you can move forward in your paperwork process. You don't want to waste time worrying yourself and not being with your husband. So let him pay for what ever he can pay for and you go ahead and get the rest.. you feel me. I can only tell you what I know... It will all come back to you end the end....when he's here, home and inside your embrace.

I am hoping that you are not from Africa .If you are American then its excuseable to say that Africais a country. If you are from Africa then it is INEXCUSEABLE.Otherwise I agree with most of what you said.

  2. Whoever can afford it should pay for it.

I don't agree with the above comment that money grows on trees in the US. I wish!!

Granted some are lucky to have well paying jobs to afford the expenses incurred by importing an international spouse but there are many who feel the pangs of love and live on the dege barely making ends meet week to week or just cannot afford to do what they are trying to do. I feel sad for them. :( Love hurts sometimes.

Exactly my point. The assumption BY SOME is that if you are in the US then you are well to do.Hence my sarcastic comment that money grows on trees. There is a REASON WHY USCIS uses the poverty guidelines .There are poor people in the US too.Bringing a spouse to the US is not a cheap burden at al.By the time the person gets here and files for AOS, you could have easily spent upwards of $3,000.Thats not taking into account day to day living expenses when the spouse arrives. My point is that its not easy on the petitioner either. Most people have made the point that some beneficiaries make as little as $8 a day in third world countries.I am saying dont forget that someone making less than $20k with bills doesn't have it easy either.NOWHERE COOL!!!!!!

  3. This is the problem with some guys.Sometimes when a guy pays for everything he tries to own the woman and treat her like property. And trust me SOME men are old school and controlling.I was born and raised in Ghana so I know what the heck I am talking about. In my case, I paid for the i-129f.My fiancee will pay for her medical fees and visa fees. She is gainfully employed and we have been preparing for this for the last two years. When she gets here.I will be paying for everything else and the adjustment of status.Women if you are employed and you can pay for something, help your fiance out and at the same time show that you can be independent and don't need a man to do everything for you.I do understand that not every woman is in that position.

  4. This topic tickles me.I guess its a case by case basis on depending on the individuals financial status. If the petitioner can afford itwhy not? but If the beneficiary can also chip in by all means.I will make this specific to maybe cases directly related to Ghana because I have seen where people compare the earnings of beneficiaries in Africa to that of petitioners in the U.S. Keep in mind the petitioner in the US has bills to pay as well and once the beneficiary gets here it is the responsibility of the Petitioner to take care of her fully .Feed her, make sure she is comfortable and in a safe and comfortable environment, take care of her health needs for a while until the beneficiary starts working.

Sometimes people in Africa have a false sense of what life in the U.S really is like.Trust me there are homeless people in the US and people live paycheck to paycheck too.Now if you will excuse me I have to go to the money tree in my backyard and water it so that it generates more benjamin Franklin's.

  5. I want to know if my fiancee being present for my interview will help a lot, and also I will like to know if she would be allowed into the interview section of the embassy. Anyone with recent experience should kindly advice us. Thank you

Unless her presence is required, I wouldnt even bother having her travel all the way to come to Ghana.I have read some reviews where the US citizen has been present in the embassy but not part of the interview. There is also a recent review where a both beneficiary and petitioner were there and although the petitioner was not invited to the interview, the consular interviwed the petitioner.

She is not required to be there and her Check the reviews to see the various experiences and her presence does not mean they will issue the visa.Issuance of the visa depends solely on whether they believe your evidence or not.

I wouldnt worry if I were you.You have a real relationship and you have enough evidence.Just focus on getting all the requested documents and you wil be fine.

  6. All answers above are either wrong or nonresponsive. The OP is asking about the interview in Accra. The consular interview has nothing to do with USCIS requirements of having met within the last 2 years; no one dealing with a completely different country has any business saying "no problem"; and "the grace of God" has zero to do with visa approval. OP, read the Embassy Info and Reviews: Embassy for Accra, and read the threads in the appropriate Regional Subforum, and you'll get a better idea. Eight days is awfully little time to have spent in person together, especially for a consul in a high-fraud country.

Thank God you were able to save the day with your great suggestion on how to resolve the problem.

  7. hello Vjers, i need your help ones again. went for my interview on monday. actually it didnt look like an interview. it looked like just presenting documents to me. i presented all the documents i was told to bring, my dna went through, sent a new medical and police report. everything went through buh i was told by the CO the tax transcript was not what they were lookn for. CO gave another long date and told me to please bring the transcript. i hav gone to the website (www.irs.gov) they gave me and cant really find what they want. im sure my mom sent the 1040 federal tax returns. to my knowledge now its only the tax transcript thats keepn me here a lil longer. please Vjers can some1 help me know the correct tax transcript to send and if anybody can go to the extend to really show me how it looks like i will be really grateful, thank you.

I am confused.Do they want tax transcripts or tax returns?Tax transcripts are free, Tax returns are not.If you order tax returns from the IRS it could be pretty expensive. How many years do they want you to provide the returns? Its $57.00 per tax period for the tax returns and its free for the transcripts.

Below is information from IRS .GOV.

Topic 156 - Copy of Your Tax Return – How to Get One

If you need an exact copy of a previously filed and processed tax return and all attachments (including Form W-2), you should complete Form 4506 (PDF), Request for Copy of Tax Return, and mail it to the address listed in the instructions, along with a $57.00 fee for each tax period requested. The check or money order for the fee should be made payable to the "United States Treasury". Copies are generally available for returns filed in the current and past six years. Copies of jointly filed tax returns may be requested by either spouse and only one signature is required. Allow 60 calendar days to receive your copies.

Most needs for tax return information can be met with a computer print-out of your return information called a "transcript". A transcript may be an acceptable substitute for an exact copy of a return by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and lending agencies for student loans and mortgages. A "tax return transcript" will show most line items contained on the return as it was originally filed. If you need a statement of your tax account which shows changes that you or the IRS made after the original return was filed, however, you must request a "tax account transcript". Both transcripts are generally available for the current and past three years and are provided free of charge. The period in which you will receive the transcript varies from within ten to thirty business days from the time the IRS receives your request for the tax return or tax account transcript.

You can obtain a free transcript on the IRS.gov Website (www.irs.gov) by clicking Order a Transcript under the Online Services option, or by calling 800-908-9946 and following the prompts in the recorded message, or by completing and mailing a request for a transcript to the address listed in the

  8. i was married but fileed single because my wife lived in ghana and i did not want to go through the husle of applying for the itin moreso her interview date was close and even when she went for the interview nobody asked her. i personally dont think it's a big deal because people file married but filing single so why will the embassy want to make it a problem if you can defend your reason.

I completely understand your point.Just make sure you contact the IRS and ask them also. This will come up for questioning at the interview so please make sure you are able to tell the CO and hopefully after you talk to the IRS and they tell you what you could have done you can tell the CO what the IRS told you.I don't think its going to affect you too much.

  9. In Ghana you pick the packet 3 and 4 on the same day , and as for the time for the interview, you have to be looking at 4 to 5 month from the day of picking your packets. I am waiting until July for my interview

I think they mean how long after the interview does it take for the visa to be issued. If thats the case i have heard three weeks to a month although in some cases it has taken considerably longer. There arepeople have been told to come back several times and have not still received it well over ther one month period.

  10. There is a lot of rumor, speculation and untruths going on in this thread. We are dealing with the interview stage and therefore the consulate right? What exactly will the consulate find on your facebook page that will contradict the ton of paperwork that you have presented? Your marital status? A lot of people have not updated their facebook pages in a long time and not everyone goes on facebook every single day.I know people are trying to think of everything that could come up during the interview but worrying about whether or not the consulate will be going througfh your facebook page to trip you up is a bit much.

  11. I am hoping that it doesnt take no longer than 4 months for my fiance to get his interview. We have yet to hear from the embassy of when his interview will be.

Good luck to all of our continuing journeys... and good luck on the interviews! :star:

The average I have seen for interviews is about 4 months.Did you email the embassy to confirm that they have received the case?If not please do and they will send you an email on when he can come and pick up packet 3 .In my case i emailed them 3 times once before they got the case and twice more after they got the case and they scheduled a pick up of packet 3 for this wednesday so it took them three weeks to sch==edule her to come pick up packet 3 after i emailed them.

  12. She is also anticipating that date.We looked at several timelines and realized that its taking on average about 4 months for an interview to be scheduled. We are just waiting for our date to be scheduled so we can get the latest letter of intent, employment letter, bank statement, I-134,bank letter and phone records, medicals and police report. We will probably send all these things about 2 months before the interview.

  13. Can you please do a timeline so that we can use your case to determine when our interview might be.Like most people have said your presence is not required the only bank statement they are interested in is yours since you are the sponsor and that is not something they are really concerned with.id rather have 3 of your most recent pay stubs, W-2 and tax transcripts. So long as you meet the poverty guidelines you will not even require a co- sponsor..I have heard that you will not even be questioned as part of the interview. They may let you in the building once you tell them you are a US citizen but you will not be a part of the interview process. Can you give us an idea of how the interview went?
