  1. I have a friend who is filing for his spouse in Ghana .He is filing form I130 and is almost done with the process. He has paid the fee and is in the process of filling out form DS 230.Can he have his spouse fill it out scan and email it to him or does NVC require originals?

  2. Hello, First of all.I want to think everyone on this forum for their posts and words of encouragement. My wife was approved on Jan 30 th and we were told that we should get the GC in about two weeks. My wife wants to change her name to my last name. Now that the green card has been approved and is on the way do I have to file an I-90 to replace the green card?I am aware that I have to go to the Social security office and make the change there as well as the DMV, banks, employers etc.Can anyone confirm that I need the I-90 to replace the green card that will be issued? Many Tahanks.

  3. I jad my interview yesterday and the lady told me that the I-129 F contained much of the information I submitted so she wasnt interested in seeing that again. She wasnt interested in our wedding cards etc.She was interested in seeing pictures of us together with other people in the pictures as well as what she called "bonafides" or evidence such as joint bank accounts showing money coming into and going out of the account. She was very excited to see that my wife was on my health insurance , dental insurance, vision and life insurance. My wife is also my beneficiary on my 401k plan. She suggested that things like wills show evidence of a genuine relationship.Good luck

  4. By the end of JAN he will recieve a W-2 and he can use that to file his taxes for last year and you can provide them with the tax returns he files. When was the last time he worked besides feb 2012? I would provide returns for all the years he has worked. You can go to IRS.gov and request a tax transcrip.I think they can provide you with at least the last three years worth of transcripts.

  5. I understand your question.I am in the same situation.I have an interview date on Jan 30th and the status is Testing and interview but my EAD is still showing at initial review.I was under the impression that the EAD card would have arrived beforei go to the interview and I have seen several timelines that confirm this is the case.I won der why no updates on the EAD.I hope it arrives before the interview because most timelines are showing that EAD's are recived in about 60-75 days after filing and I am beyond that.

  6. ??

I think you may be a little confused. If you have an interview scheduled then congrats! the interview is for the GC. If your approved (which I dont see why you wouldnt be) then you dont need an EAD card, the GC is all you need. Actually once you have the GC you should go back to SS and ask for a 'new SS card' to be printed and mailed to you, since you are now a resident (one w/o the words valid only for work with DHS approval on it) Because you have an interview scheduled so soon you may not receive an EAD card at all- you may have to just wait for the GC, or you might receive the EAD before the GC interview- I really dont know.

I understand that the interview is for the GC, but I thought the whole point of the EAD was to allow you to work while a decision is being made on the green card. The green card interview being late jan actually hurts me because the earliest the card can come will be a week after the interview.Id much rather prefer to get the EAD card so she can start work sooner.

  7. I am filing for AOS and for Social Security card for my wife in the same week. I have a question related to the Social Security form.

What do we choose between two options?? a. Legal Alien Allowed to work or b. Legal Alian Not Allowed to work? My wife is here on K1 visa and we got married a month ago.

    Thanks for your help.

You choose A, but when your card arrives the card would be marked authorized to work with only with DHS approval or something to that effect.

  8. what happens if the immigrant is working without a work visa? do they get caught? how will the government know? what are the consequences? Especially if you are filing for an adjustment of status...

Honestly I wouldnt try it.Remember you are still going through another stage after this process where you have to fill out forms and questions similar to this could come up on those forms. As far as the consequeances you would have violated your status which could lead to deportation. Not worth it for sure.

  9. I have confirmed that they are closed.Actually my fiancee is scheduled to pick up next week bt with them being closed on Friday I am wondering if that means not everyone will get their visas next friday since the group that was scheduled to pick up this friday will most likely be asked to come back next friday.i dont know if the embassy will ask both groups to come in on the same day for visa pick up.I dont see that happening.

  10. Does anyone know what happens to those scheduled for visa pick up at Accra Embassy in Ghana on friday Aug 10, 2012.The reason I ask is because friday is a holiday due to the death of the Ghanaian president. The US Embassy typically observes all us and Ghanaian holidays.A few people who are scheduled to pick up their visas on friday have not heard any communication from the embassy.Does anyone here have any idea?
