Nothing irks me more than seeing "CAN I SEND THEM BACK?" or some variation of this. I admit with all the fees you pay the immigration process can feel like modern day slave trade. Know what you want, know who you are, and know who you are marrying before you dive into visa waters. Yes, some of our significant others come from economically struggling countries and others whose countries fair far better than the US. Your spouse is not an expensive shirt that you tuck the tag in, wear for a night, and return the next day. My husband is fine where he is and it touches me to hear him pray for the betterment of his country and the people. Our spouses are perfectly capable of sustaining themselves in their home country. If you examine the circumstances the quality of life may be somewhat advanced in the US, but the quantity you pay is the same. Your spouse's life is changed as well as their family's. Some of them endure ridicule and negativity, because they married you and not a fellow countryman.

screw dat.. i think most of these replies are from beneficiaries.. i mean i understand homesick, but dang, it shouldnt be a reason or excuse.. im a guy and a petitioner.. shld a petitioner be future sick? cuz i knw hw much of one's future gets put on hold while goin thru visa process.. as a matter of fact a beneficiary continues their life in their country until they get visa meanwhile a petitioners future is on hold right from NOA1.. and flirting wit a girl is not a sign of missin home.. unless dats wat he was doin then... yah, dnt hld da GC over his head.. but dnt settle for hmesick each time.. both couples nd to knw sacrifices comes from both sides.. otherwise, why da heck do couples tell each other "i will be with u no matter where and how".. luk for signs..okay, marriages are difficult but distrust is sign of danger.

    Sorry you're going through this.
A few thoughts. I don't believe someone can really "know what they are getting into" when they move somewhere, no mater how much they have visited. When you visit, you get an idea of the people, the food, but you know the stay is temporary, so you have some armor. Once you move there for good, it's much more scary. There is a whole world that opens up that a visitor never sees. You might not know how to get a job (different things employers look for), or how to pay the bills, or how to drive, or how to socialize, negotiate, when/how to call the cops in an emergency. I could go on and on - these little things add up to a feeling of helplessness. It's very normal to be homesick, and it's critical for YOU to be patient and understanding. If my husband expresses homesickness, I try to say "I know" and acknowledge his feelings and tell him how grateful I am that he moved here for me. I let him have his feelings. Even if you don't personally understand it, you should be kind and patient. Remember, he moved his whole world for you.
It's very harmful to hold his immigration status over his head and tell him if the relationship ends he has to go home. You should treat him as an equal, and leave the immigration out of it when fighting. I would be livid if someone told me "if it ends you have to go home." You don't dictate where he lives. Especially if he is a GreenCard holder, he is allowed to stay here.
It's hard to take the excitement of anticipation and turn it into an authentic, in-person relationship.
It seems like he wants counseling - I think it's a good idea.

If she wanted and appreciated you then you would never have to chase her... She would be available to you always. Give up and go home. Take all your papers with you.

    I did both
We were blessed and his interview/visa was on Monday, so we could buy his ticket for Saturday. Also, husband's mother really appreciated that I made the effort to come down and say good bye to them as well.
I don't think I was 'needed' at the interview, but all they asked us for was photos. They obviously spoke Spanish. Plus, I would have had to send all of the evidence/interview stuff to him at least a month in advance to be safe, not sure what the mail situation is like for you.
My husband speaks English ok, but not when he's nervous! At POE Atl, he didn't even understand when the girl asked for his right hand fingerprints (he put his other hand up). They were calling interpreters left and right, but I interpreted for my husband.
He was so nervous and his hands were so clammy that he lost his wedding ring in the airport
Also had to do his (one) ink fingerprint over because he messed it up!
Also, the look on his face walking off the plane into the cold Ohio air, priceless
However, looking back, I would have liked a couple extra days off work to spend together here. Help him get unpacked, go grocery shopping, snuggle time etc.
I think it matters most what will make your spouse most comfortable.

Hi.... I dont believe haiti cases are expedited these days maybe when the earthquake first happened and a couple of months after... But I have yet to see that everybody that has gotten approved before me has waited the typical 5 to 6 month mark for their petition approval. But Im cool with that because I got some things I have to do so the time doesnt bother me at the moment now when I finish handling what I need to handle and I'll be waiting that will be a whole another story Also it depends on what center your petition is at if its at California okay its normal to see someone approved in 2 or 3 months but vermont your looking at 4 to 6 months of waiting than off to the embassy stage. So I hope you dont have your hopes too high

I personally wouldn't even waste my time or the money to track down the lawyer. Call USCIS to even see if the lawyer even sent in your paperwork. If not than do it yourself the bad to that is you already wasted 9 months which like the poster above said your man could have been by your side already or just about to have his interview. When you go in October just take some more pictures it wouldn't hurt as well as the letter of intent which he need to sign as well as the 325A which is his biographic information go to the USCIS website and search 129F instructions and hit the floor running.

Post 9/11 world means AP will never end. It's a sad part of the process for those innocent beneficiaries who are separated from their loved ones, but if 1 person's life is saved because AP caught someone who should NOT be here then it's worth it.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reports that "...marriages arranged through these services would appear to have a lower divorce rate than the nation as a whole, fully 80 percent of these marriages having lasted over the years for which reports are available."[42] The USCIS also reports that "... mail-order bride and e-mail correspondence services result in 4,000 to 6,000 marriages between U.S. men and foreign brides each year." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail-order_bride#Divorce_rate
Seriously. it does need changed. But not in the way you suggest.
    1) for k-1/k-2/k-3/k-4/CR-1/ir-1 make it a 6 month tourist visa with 6 month renewals pending approval. 95% of all k-1's are approved at the USCIS level.
1a) all immediate spouse/fiance visas 100% must be processed in 6 weeks. No immediate spouse/fiance visa should go beyond 8 weeks. Mandatory NO backlog.
1b) RFE extends for 8 weeks, RFE must be answered after receipt of answer in 7 calendar days.
    2) AFTER approval, you have 90 days to get married. But CANNOT get married during hte 6 month tourist visa stage until approval has been given. Marriage will not be considered valid.
    3) You can apply for a waiver on the tourist visa stage to get married submitting a waiver of conditions.
    4) Parents/immediate family be allowed to travel for wedding on tourist visa only. Parents cannot in any way turn the tourist visa into a permanent stay visa. And parents must have round trip tickets. Parents/immediate family refusing to leave subjects child to expulsion and lifetime ban as well.
    5) K-1 visa approval with visa issued, Petitioner and beneficiary can "ceremonial" marry not more then one week just prior to entering the USA and must immediately marry in the USA.

Well Rujby nobody can assure you that it will or will not be a problem. This process in total can take to anywhere between 6 months to a year so by the time you get to the interview stage you and your wife relationship will be further along. Also in the mean time if she can visit frequently that would help as well as gathering alot of evidence of proving your marriage is the real deal. I believe with all that I mentioned you should be fine. Just my two cents.

Well if you have time you can go to the IRS website and request them through mail they take about 5-10 business days or you can ask them to have them fax to you. I had mine sent through the mail and they are very professional looking bascially a summary of the actually 1040 although I gave my fiance both my 1040 and W2 of 2010 tax year plus tax transcripts for the for 2010, 2009, 2008 just in case they ask him he has it all.
