AmyWrites got a reaction from Trompe le Monde in Is there still an Argument over Obama's Citizenship?
No, the argument is that some people are still pissed off a non-WASP won the election. That's all. The fear of non-WASPs becoming the majority, etc.

IMO, moderatos should be completely neutral. No comments like that, no political/religious anything.
Obviously it's not like that in this site.
Ignore it. They're not worth it.

Chubby? Yeah, I'm almost chubby too in Russia, supposedly, but had a lot of men hit on me because of the cleavage/butt aspect of me is better than your average Russian girl's.
I don't get how jealousy is being attributed as an "American" thing when in another thread (or a few posts back, can't remember), I said Ukranian women shouldn't be jealous as they're attractive or get angry if their man notices someone else, and was told "You're not an ukranian woman".

I'm pretty sure I was a man in a past life. Could also be that for a long time, the only females in my family were my grandmother, mom, and me. So I was raised almost exclusively by men.
Plus attractiveness can be appreciated in both genders. I'll happily admit that a woman or a man is hot... doesn't mean I'd go to bed with them, they're just physically appealing. I think that if your partner will cheat on you with another person only because that other person is attractive, there's bigger problems in your partner or your relationship that you should worry about.

I know that happens more often than we'd all like to admit, but it takes a really evil and effed up person to do that.

AmyWrites got a reaction from sandinista! in What if they were Muslim?
Of course they'd get sensationalized. Islam the new boogeyman.
It was communists some time ago, now it's muslims. The effects of being constantly told, whether directly or indirectly, that X group is evil lasts for decades. It's why some people still fart blood when they hear "communist" and certain famous people still use the term to scare others into believing them.
Same thing with Islam now and in twenty or thirty years people will still be afraid or hate Muslims.
I'm not a Muslim, but I'm sorry that these stories are being used as the sole representation of an entire faith and its followers. My situation is probably easier than yours, I'm a very successful Hispanic (well, half Hispanic, if that even means anything) and I'd like to stop having the media portray Hispanics as welfare draining, uneducated, gang banging and lazy wastes of life. I get how it feels to have a stereotype be what others see in you as a first impression.
IMO the best way to prove a stereotype wrong is to not act according to what the stereotype you supposedly fall in acts. Being angry and argumentative about it, while understandable, isn't productive into "proving" these notions about your given group of people wrong. By being a good, successful (and I don't mean simply financially), hard working person you are eventually going to make people STFU. Most people are bigoted and hateful out of their own (and sadly, sometimes chosen) ignorance. It's not worth your time to get angry over it; people who are stupid enough to make such a sweeping generalization like "All _______ people are evil" based on stories on people who are obviously from a more radical area/belief/etc aren't worth getting even a little bit annoyed over.

AmyWrites got a reaction from LIFE'SJOURNEY in Evil people trying to split my family up
Many people in the DR use the English FB. I wouldn't take it as "proof" it wasn't real.
And I'm trying not to be judgmental, but my family is of a similar culture (Puerto Rican... and I don't know if you're aware of this but a common scam among Dominican men is to "fall in love with" and marry a Puerto Rican, who is a US citizen, and eventually split), and yes, if I were you I would really, really believe this to be true. The fact that your sister said he'd benefit would raise a huge red flag for me as well.
But if you've known him for years and trust him, well at most have a talk with him about it and ask the person for "proof"... and get a prenup, just in case.
