That's the point. Incoming beneficiaries shouldn't be going around having sex out of marriage anyway... and if they test positive for HIV, and conduct that kind of behavior, they should at least use protection.

Prevention almost guarantees no infection, I don't know what's so scary about this mostly sexually transmitted disease. I wouldn't go as far as say 'accepted' or 'tolerated'... there is still fervent research being carried out to find a cure.

Not at all. You tend to always point out that violence happens in urban areas, but you leave out that it also happens in suburbia as well. You say we should be insulted to get preferential treatment from the government, but if someone posts a story about a minority or God forbid Islam, you have negative connotations about it right off the jump.
I have no issues admitting that I am vexed about how my people carry themselves in certain situations. I also know that Islam has its share of extremists. But I and many others are not like that. But it's hard to see that when all people do is focus on the sensational rather than the rational.

I don't know. Probably just living their lives not really giving two shits about what some village in Vermont is or isn't doing. Just my guess. That little congregation in the woods up north you guys call your state isn't really all that relevant to most people, you know? It just really isn't. I get it, you're looking for attention. Maybe Alla can spare some?

As am I- both states can peacefully coexist as long as the hardliners on both sides are done away with.
As for the idea of an international security buffer, I am surprised Israel has not offered such an option to assist them in returning Arab lands back to at least the 1967 borders, security being an issue and all.

Nobody's arguing that manufacturing happens overseas. Everyone knows that.
That's not what Romney is saying though.
He's attempting to scare Ohio voters in manufacturing towns into beleiving that their jobs are at risk or that potential jobs will be shipped to China instead of put into place in the US. The company themselves are saying that's absolutely not true, but instead of backing down, Romney just says it MORE.

You are focusing on the absolutely wrong thing. Romney is claiming these companies are going to take away American jobs and ship them overseas. This is false. And it seems nobody seems to care that it's false because they keep saying it.

Mr. Christie, a longtime supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, previously had been a critic of Mr. Obama's policies but has been effusive in his praise of the president's handling of Sandy in New Jersey. The state is facing widespread power outages and likely billions of dollars in losses along its popular coastline. The men met on the tarmac at Atlantic City's airport shortly after 1 p.m. and boarded a helicopter.

(CNN) – Democrats on Tuesday ramped up their pressure on the Romney campaign over two new ads on the auto bailout, as each side sought to sway voters in the crucial battleground state of Ohio.
Spokespeople for Obama's re-election effort pointed to quotes from General Motors and Chrysler executives blasting Mitt Romney over a new round of ads that accuse the auto giants of shifting jobs overseas.
"The ad is cynical campaign politics at its worst," General Motors spokesman Greg Martin told The New York Times. "We think creating jobs in the U.S. and repatriating profits back in this country should be a source of bipartisan pride."
The Romney radio ad, which aired in Ohio Tuesday, claims GM plans to double the number of cars built in China and that Chrysler plans to start making Jeeps in the same country.
"Mitt Romney: He'll stand up for the auto industry in Ohio, not China," the ad's narrator concludes.
The ad follows a television spot released over the weekend, which makes the same argument and faced wide criticism in recent days for its accuracy.
"Obama took GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy and sold Chrysler to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China," the television spot's narrator says.
Romney originally floated that idea at a rally in Defiance, Ohio last week. He quoted a report about the majority owner of Chrysler, Fiat, saying it was considering producing its signature Jeep in China.
However, the Bloomberg report to which Romney was apparently referring said that the potential move would only affect cars produced for Chinese consumers.
Chrysler Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications Gualberto Ranieri emphatically denied the possibility U.S. production would be affected, writing in an online posting, "Let's set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China."
The ad was rated "Pants on Fire" by the independent, fact-checking group PolitiFact.com. And former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden on Monday tag teamed in their attacks against Romney over the ad.
The Romney campaign did not highlight their television ad–or Tuesday's radio ad–with a press release to reporters, as they have with nearly every other spot, but CNN's ad tracker Kantar Media CMAG, spotted the ad running on broadcast television stations in Toledo and Youngstown, Ohio – two Ohio manufacturing strongholds.
Martin, the GM representative, said Romney's ads show that the candidate is "bereft of any fundamental understanding of the global automotive industry.
"All global manufacturers, whether General Motors, Ford, Chrysler or VW, build historically in the markets in which we sell," he continued.
Romney's campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Zero Sum reacted to Mr. Big Dog in Paul Ryan: I don't have time to explain our tax plan.
This is the point Romney and Ryan have been dancing around. They acknowledge that reducing the rates will require offsets to remain revenue neutral. They refuse to either validate the quoted revenue impact of the proposed rate cut or specify what that impact is. The reason why is because they cannot demonstrate how that revenue can be made up with offsetting measures without rasing taxes on lower and middle income families. They can't present their tax plan because it would cost them the election.

Zero Sum reacted to Mr. Big Dog in Paul Ryan: I don't have time to explain our tax plan.
That's not the math that Ryan is asked to explain. They are proposing a 20% rate cut across the board. That is going to cost approximately $5TN over a decade. They are proposing to close loopholes to make it revenue neutral. Now, there are roughly $1TN in loopholes in the tax code. Deductions for charitable donations, mortgage interest, student loan interest, education expenses, health insurance premiums, HSA, DCSA, etc. So you're looking at closing roughly half of those to offset the cost of that 20% rate reduction. All they're asked to explain is which loopholes they will close or reduce and how. They won't say because people in the middle will realize that under such plan, they will pay higher taxes despite the lower rates. They admit this in different terms - broadening of the tax base - hoping that people won't notice. But if you reform the tax code with the goal of broadening the tax base while keeping it revenue neutral, it follows that people in the middle and lower income groups who may either not pay federal income taxes today or only marginally do so will pay more. And if they pay more, then people on the upper end must pay less in order to keep it revenue neutral.

I don't expect everyone to agree in these threads, since the concept itself is still at issue, at least in respect to the causes. I really do wish, though, that anyone who chooses to participate in these topics at least understands the simple statistical concept of arithmetic mean. Global mean sea levels have risen, just as global mean temperature has risen, just as global mean CO2 concentration has risen. Mainstream science does not need to retract anything.
I'm posting all that above because it's getting to that time of year again. I anticipate the "8 inches of snow in my driveway - what happened to global warming" topics any time now.

I believe, at the end of the day, they're all full of ####.
I like Obama. I find him easy to relate to. Does he fulfill all of his promises? No. Unfortunately, nobody does. So I can't dislike him for that reason alone. So I have to go on something else and that something else is that Obama's ideal America matches closely with MY ideal America. What he wants for this country, I want for this country. I don't necessarily always agree with the way he goes about it, nor do I always agree with how long it takes to get things done, but I won't put that squarely on his shoulders. Running this country is not a one-man show.
Romney's ideals and Romney's America don't match what I want out of the country I live in. I have seen nothing and heard nothing that convinces me that Romney's way of going about his goals are any better than anything Obama has done to achieve his.
I basically want to live in a country where people take care of themselves, but they also don't disagree with taking care of each other in times of need. I want to live in an America where the middle class doesn't pay more than they should, and where the richer pay as much as they should. I want to live in an America where people do not have to worry about healthcare. I want to live in an America where the government doesn't rule over a woman's body or her healthcare choices. I want to live in an America where two consenting adults can marry each other and have the same benefits other married couples get. I want to live in an America where the "dream" is still attainable and you won't spend the rest of your life in debt to attain it.
Those ideals don't match up with Romney, nor do they match up with most Republicans.
That basically sums up why I'd vote for Obama if I could, and why I support another 4 years out of him.

Zero Sum reacted to Mr. Big Dog in Judge refuses to halt Pennsylvania’s voter identification law
Voter ID laws do not address the voter registration process. I do not need a photo ID to register to vote. All I need to do is fill out a form and send it in. My information is then verified and validated by the county supervisor of elections office and - once passed - I will receive a voter information card in the mail. Then I'm good to go. I don't have to prove that I am a citizen or that I am 18 years of age or that I am not ineligible to vote for any other reason. I do have to affirm all these things on my application and face a 3rd degree felony charge if I provide incorrect information.
Oh, and you do not need a photo ID to purchase guns. Fact is, you don't even have to pass a background check.
