  1. Because you can't choose your parents. If you're parents are drug/alcohol abusers, is that your fault?

I personally think genetics have little to do with it. Of course if you're raised around people that are addicts, then you're chances of becoming one yourself are increased. Does that mean that children raised in good households by good parents will never become addicts? Of course not.

On the flip side of that argument I can see people saying, "My parents were addicts, so that's why I get high" It's simply another excuse for people to not take responsibility for their actions and blame it on someone else. That's the problem with this country. It's always someone else's fault.

  2. I hired a lawyer. It delayed the process for 3 months minimum. They didn't have a clue even though they claimed to have handled 1000s of family based visas. I had to correct them at every step thanks to information I received from this website. If I didn't find this website, and stuck with the lawyer, my wife would probably still be sitting in Thailand. She's a US Citizen now, thanks to VJ. I chalked it up to an $1800 lesson learned. Keep in mind you're just another stack of forms to a lawyer.

With tears in her eyes, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Monday called on all sides in the political conflicts to forgive and forget and have compassion toward one another.

Yingluck made the call when members of 24 families, whose relatives were killed during the red-shirt crackdowns in 2010, met her at the Government House.

The group expressed support for the amnesty bill, saying relatives of the slain red-shirt protesters agreed that the amnesty would be he best way-out for the country so that it could move forward.

Yingluck thanked the group of relatives with tears in her eyes.

"I would like to thank you all for making sacrifices so that the country could move on," Yingluck said.

Commenting on mounting protests against the amnesty bill, Yingluck said she would like to call on all sides to have sympathy for others and forgive their opponents as well as having compassion for others.

"We must lend our hands in helping the country. The first thing that must be done is to forgive one another so that everything could move forward," Yingluck said.

"If the government does nothing, the country will slip back to the same circle of violence," she added referring to the amnesty bill.

She said the government had to keep order during the protests and she believed the demonstrations would be peaceful.

She added she had instructed police to be patience and abide by the law and avoid clashes with the protesters

Give me a break! All they had to do was leave her brother out of the amnesty and everything would've been fine.

  4. So fine...now explain why you are blaming this on Jesse Ventura. Seems like the law is flawed and he is following the law. How does that make him a scumbag? Did he foist the most incredible government travesty on the entire US public? Did he double insurance rates? Quadruple insurance deductibles? Stand before congress and repeat "I don't know" a gazillion times?

If the law which allows one to sue someone else other than the offender is bad...change the law! Don't blame people as "scumbags" who use the law as it was written. Ventrua has a right to challenge a defamation...maybe it is BS, that is for a court to decide. When did it happen that we are so quick to avoid cout decisions...a la Trayvon Martin...or follow the law? You lynch Ventura without a trial and say HE is a scumbag?

C'mon Karee, you know better than that. If you were the usual Democrat rump swab I would understand, but you have some functionng brains...I know you do!

####### does doubling insurance rates have to do with anything? He was suing Chris Kyle for defamation. Chris Kyle was killed by some nut. A decent person would drop the lawsuit instead of not only continuing the lawsuit, but demanding that the widow fight the lawsuit in a courtroom in another state. I'd think losing her war hero husband would be enough. Apparently not for that lunatic.

Now, I am entitled to my opinion. IMO, Jesse Ventura is a scumbag. Don't like that? In your words, Tough Shitskies!

  5. what did Jesse do?

Jesse Ventura lawsuit vs. murdered Navy SEAL can move forward, judge says

Jesse Ventura’s lawsuit against “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle -- purportedly the deadliest-ever American servicemen -- can proceed with the war hero’s widow as a substitute defendant, a judge has ruled.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan reportedly wrote in his decision concerning Ventura’s defamation suit, “(if) a party dies and the claim is not extinguished, the court may order substitution of the proper party.”

Boylan subsequently named Taya Kyle, executor of her husband’s estate, as replacement defendant, the StarTribune of Minneapolis reports.

Ventura, whose resume includes noted turns as Minnesota governor, WWF wrestler, Navy SEAL, and Hollywood actor, sued Kyle over an unflattering anecdote the sniper slipped into his 2012 book.

Specifically, Kyle alleged that during a 2006 tete-a-tete, the duo duked it out at a California bar after Ventura badmouthed the second Iraq War, the United States, in general, as well as then-President George W. Bush.

Kyle, who served four tours of duty during the second Iraq War, was fatally shot in February by a fellow vet he and friend Chad Littlefield had squired to a Texas gun range.

The shooter, Eddie Ray Routh, is said to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, and Kyle was trying to aid the troubled former soldier. Routh, instead, tragically turned the gun on Kyle and Littlefield, killing both men.

Kyle is thought to be the most lethal American serviceman in history, with upwards of 160 confirmed kills in combat.

Ventura – who had his own nom de guerre -- “The Body” -- during his wrestling career and who famously appeared in “Predator,” a cult Hollywood classic – was not named in Kyle’s book, but instead therein referred to as “Scruff Face.”

Kyle later told TV audiences during an interview that “Scruff Face,” was, indeed, the former Minnesota chief executive.

A Ventura attorney had argued Taya Kyle should be substituted as a defendant because Chris Kyle's estate will continue to profit from book sales and a recent movie deal, and Ventura has a right to protect his reputation.

Taya Kyle's attorney had argued Ventura would be better off dropping the case, saying that going forward would give the perception that Ventura had little regard for loved ones of deceased war heroes.

  7. Don't like what you're making at your current job? Go find another one. There's no right of employment in this country. Corporations don't owe anyone $hit except their shareholders. It's called running a business.

Want to make a point? Don't use that corporation's services or buy their products. America has turned into a bunch of whining babies where everyone thinks they are owed something for doing nothing.

  8. And thank you Mr. Frog, I appreciate your further help.

Of course if anyone else has some further hints, I would like like that . Mike

Make sure you file I-485 (AoS), I-131(AP), and I-765 (EAD) all at the same time. That way you only have to pay the fee for the I-485. If you file them separately, you have to pay 3 fees.

  9. The Internal Revenue Service paid up to $13.6 billion in bogus claims for the Earned Income Tax Credit last year and as much as $132.6 billion over the past decade, according to an internal audit that already has some members of Congress questioning how the agency will be able to administer Obamacare.

IRS problems with the tax credit aren’t new. In fact, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration said it warned officials about the problems in 2011 — but two years later, the agency still hasn’t solved the situation and remains in violation of one of President Obama’s executive orders.

Indeed, the IRS has not established annual targets for reducing the payments, which is required by law, nor is the agency complying with requirements that it report to auditors each quarter on any EITC payments totaling more than $5,000.

“The IRS should be commended for implementing numerous processes to educate Americans and identify and prevent improper EITC payments,” said J. Russell George, Treasury inspector general for tax administration. “Unfortunately, it is still distributing more than $11 billion in improper EITC payments each year, and that is disturbing.”

Mr. George and his investigators said 21 percent to 25 percent of all EITC payments in 2012 were erroneous, meaning $11.6 billion to $13.6 billion was paid to people who shouldn’t have received the credit, or received the wrong amount.

The EITC is a refundable tax credit designed to transfer money to the working poor through the tax system. It allows the working poor to pay less in taxes or, if they have no tax liability, to get money.

Both the IRS and the auditors agreed it is a complex program and checking eligibility is difficult.

The program is popular with many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who say it’s an effective anti-poverty tool, rewarding those who work.

But the large error rate left some lawmakers questioning whether the agency will be able to administer the tens of billions of dollars in health care tax credits that are part of the Affordable Care Act.

“That the IRS can’t figure out how to rein in the improper Earned Income Tax Credit payments doesn’t bode well for the $1.1 trillion in ObamaCare subsidies,” said Sen. Orrin G. Hatch of Utah, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee.

He said if the error rate in Obamacare subsidies is as big as it is in the EITC, that could mean $250 billion would be wasted in health care payments.

The size of the erroneous payments was staggering to lawmakers. At more than $13 billion a year, the bogus tax claims are more than the entire budget of the Environmental Protection Agency or the Interior or Labor departments.

“The waste outlined in this report — more than $13 billion a year — equals or exceeds the annual budgets of some federal agencies,” said Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican and Congress‘ chief waste-watcher. “Before we ask taxpayers to send even more of their own money to Washington, we must do more to prevent these egregious examples of waste.”

The IRS said it does try to crack down on bad EITC payments. Americans who claim the tax credit are already audited at twice the rate of other taxpayers.

“The IRS protects nearly $4 billion in improper claims each year and is committed to continuing to work to reduce improper claims,” the agency said in a statement.

The agency said it’s working with the White House budget office to try to come up with other ways to weed out bad payments, and promised to soon comply with reporting requirements.

And it’s already shown some progress in cutting the problem. In 2010, as much as 29 percent of EITC payments were erroneous, accounting for up to $18.4 billion.

Analysts said the large error rate stems from the complexity of the program, which leaves taxpayers confused about who is able to claim it.

Then there are the competing goals Congress and Mr. Obama have set.

For example, in a 2009 executive order the president told agencies to do more to make sure Americans know they are eligible for tax credits. But he also told agencies to crack down on bogus payments, laying out the reporting goals that the inspector general said the IRS is violating.
