Demonstrating Savings on I-864 alongside income

My partner in the US has earned a little under the amount asked for in the I-864 on one year, in order to make up the shortfall we want to demonstrate this in cash savings. We have calculated what is needed and multiplied by 3 as required by spouses

We have that amount of money both in my partner (sponsors) account which I transferred to her after I sold my house in the UK (actually nearly double what is needed just in case)

I also have about 47 x this amount in pounds in my UK account (again from my house sale and some other savings) so we have more than amoutn to make up this enough.

Everything I've read has said we are better off getting a sponsor which we can't, we don't have anyone who earns enough who can do this. What would we need to submit to show this - bank statements from us both, evidence of the money transfer? my house sale? Do you think we should look to see if we can find a lawyer to help with the preperation of this form?

HI there

I am seeing lots of conflicting information regarding the photos needed in this form

I am a UK national living in the UK and my husband (living in the US) is filing the 1-130 tomorrow for us and the 1-130a - do i need to also provide passport style photos? It says only if i live in the US but others have said they included it anyway

Should i include or leave for a later date if they request it? Any up to date advise is much appreciated

thanks

Claire

Has anyone brought their children on K1 visa?

I am from England, my fianc e is from Utah. Our K1 application was just received by USCIS on May 9th. I am bringing my children with me, as I am the only parent, their biological father abandoned them. Has anyone else brought their children on a K1 visa? What paperwork did you need from the other parent? I have tracked down my ex husband , and he has signed allowing them to permanently immigrate. Is this enough? I have asked a solicitor to notaries this, and the solicitor will do this, but the solicitor is asking my ex husband to sign this in front of him, my ex husband has refused. Anyone else had similar issues? Will it be enough for just the solicitor to notarize without my ex husband present?

Help needed from my forum friends please

Hello forum friends,

I'm finding the K1 visa process really difficult to follow and I think I need some help.

Our current situation is that yesterday we received our case number from the NVC and the letter telling us that our case was being sent to the London embassy.

On checking out case number it shows " in transit". Last night I completed and submitted our DS160.

My question is what is next?

I don't want to inadvertently delay anything.

My understanding is that I need to pay my application fee (approx 200) and for this we require an invoice number.

Yesterday we sent an inquiry form to the NVC requesting our invoice number but I'm not sure if this is correct?

Am I right in thinking I need to pay the fee before I can book my medical & interview?

I feel a better way of doing this would be some instructions on the NVC welcome letter, explaining what to do next.

For info I have a print out of my up to date vaccines and I am in possession of my police certificate.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Really struggling to secure a house lease ahead of us moving to USA at the end of June

My wife (US Citizen) has to leave the UK on 24 June, otherwise she risks overstaying on her UK visa. She has a job offer as part of a transfer within her employer's wider group, so we can provide income now, and the job offer to support a house lease application.

I'm a UK Citizen, following the consular processing route and have my visa interview on 16 June. I plan to continue working for my current employer, at least initially.

We plan to arrive in the US on July 1, and understandably would like to secure a lease on a home ahead of arriving, so we're not having to stay with family.

Combined, we meet the income threshold, but my wife does not if we exclude my income. And therein lies the issue.

We were just refused on our house rental application because I couldn't meet the visa requirements. I understand their decision as it must be fair and applied the same to everyone, but it's frustrating as I could have provided them proof of my visa once stamped in my passport well before we collected the keys.

How did everyone else navigate this?

From what I understand, they require proof of my valid visa issuance, including my I-94 and Social Security Card. They said I had to meet the ID requirements of the I-9 form. All of these I could provide in future, but clearly will not be able to provide them for at least a few weeks after arrival.

We can stay with family initially, but I feel that opens up other issues. Both in terms of privacy, and we wouldn't have anywhere to work, as we will both be working remote roles. There's also the concern that my wife starting her new job, and me finding and starting one for a US employer would then mean we haven't been working for our new employers for long enough to qualify.
