Hi All,

We submitted I-130 (US citizen applying for spouse) in April 2024. So far we have 2 letters back from USCIS but cant be sure we are identifying where the case is with confidence.

Letter 1

From I-767C

notice type: Receipt

received date: April 01, 2024

notice date: April 11, 2024

Receipt number: IOE************

In the bottom left corner of this letter there is an address for the Nebraska service center.

Letter 2 and the only document posted on our USCIS portal

From I-767C

notice type: USCIS account access notice

received date: April 01, 2024

notice date: April 19, 2024

Receipt number: IOE************

In the bottom left corner of this letter there is an address for the Vermont service center.

So is our case with Nebraska or Vermont? asking so we can see trends with processing times in the center with our case. Appreciate any help.

Hi guys,

I have my medical for my K1 visa this coming Friday, I ve just been going through my documents doing a final check and I ve noticed they want the affidavit and IRS documents with me when I attend.

I have the IRS that s no issue, we have the I 134 document, my question is where does my fianc submit this completed form and his bank statements?

my understanding is that I have a copy of the form with me but he has to submit it somewhere, is that correct? Or are we submitting that at my physical document check?

Any help is much appreciated, the document check just says I require the I 134 and the IRS it doesn t mention his bank statements or proof of pension etc.

Many thanks Lesley

My SSA Account (first and middle name no space).

I set up a mySSA Account via ID.ME which worked out just fine. I ve noticed that my first and middle name has no space though, this also shows on the printable statement that you can download from the account. My actual SS card, Green Card and all official USCIS and State ID has my name correct with a space, so it s only on my account that there is an error.

has anyone experienced this before? I ve emailed the SSA, but there has been no reply. Maybe a phone call would be helpful, or is it ok to just leave?

Thank you.

Addressing 6+ month gap in employment as a K1?

Hi VJ,

As I've recently received my EAD, I'm thinking about giving my CV an update ahead of looking for work. My last employment in the UK ended 1st January, ahead of me moving to the US as a K1 in mid-January.

That's a 6 month gap in employment, and it will only increase as time goes on as I don't anticipate that it will be quick to find employment. I'm wondering if I should address this in some way on my resume.

Im worried that employers, who don't understand the immigration process, might assume that being out of work for 6+ months was my choice and look unfavorably on me.

Any thoughts or advice from your own experience?

SSA refused reissuing SSN with married name...

Hi all,

I received a letter today from the SSA stating that they are refusing to reissue my SSN with my change of name from marriage:

20250606_184400.thumb.jpg.4e40d87c6d466d380a66028a6cccc74c.jpg

I made 2 separate trips this past month. The first time I took my current SSN card (maiden name), UK passport, original marriage cert and 797c receipt notices for both AOS and EAD. I was missing my I94 so had to reschedule for the next day. I took all of the above again, including recent print out of I94 and travel history.

This is a small town and they don't seem to understand my status, or lack thereof. They click around on a computer screen and tell me they're just trying to get it to accept my information. I have no idea what they're doing. Anyway, at my last visit the girl seemed happy with what I gave and didn't ask me for anything more, so how is it that I did not give them the documents they require? Does a combination of passport, marriage certificate, original SSN, 797c's not show identity and age? They don't even tell me what documents they want...

Anyway, I'll be calling them Monday to schedule an appointment but wanted to hear from VJ for any tips on what docs I could take in addition to everything I already provided. Maybe you had similar experiences as a K1. Husband suggested my UK birth cert (dunno why I didn't think of this before), and I also now have my EAD card. Surely these would help?

Really frustrating as I can't get starting on a driving license before SSN is updated, and I can't realistically look for work until driving is covered!
