US Immigration from United Kingdom

Hi IR-1 community!

We are prepping for the medical examination, and I believe we have all the documents needed but for extra security, we were interested in doing the Titer test for immunity to some of the required vaccinations (in-case they have trouble understanding my spouses foreign vaccination card).

Any recommendations on where this can be done? We've tried asking with our GP, but its not the easiest process we are realizing and wondering if any of you have recommendations for this with private practice or other service?

On page 11 Questions 25,26 and 27 (I ll attach a photo)

It asks about specific citations and crimes.

I had sold a car when I was on a college programme in 2014 and the new owner never registered the car in their name and I stupidly didn t report the sale or keep hold of any documents to show that I had sold the car.

Anyway the new owner had got a parking ticket, and a fine for expired registration. A year later was caught driving the car without insurance.

as my name was on the vehicle a request was made to my address where I was on my college programme asking for proof of insurance, I never received it as I was back in the UK however a warrant was subsequently issued for not showing.

The offences were

1)Owner who is not driver failed to produce proof of insurance after requested at a later date.

2)Drivers license not updated after name and or address has been changed.

The two tickets are parking in snow area $70 bucks and expired registration $140 bucks.

Speeding ticket (Mine) the year prior (Paid)

We only found this was there when I got a credit report and it alerted to a possible criminal record. So after digging into to contacting the county clerks office we were given the details of these offences.

Our lawyer has had the warrant cancelled as we proved I wasn t in the country, he currently working on getting the case resolved. I did however get a speeding ticket back in 2014 but that fine was paid a while ago.

So now I m the process of adjusting and needing to file does anyone have any advice on how to fill out the questions or which ones would apply. Do I write the same answer for each question?

Right so I now have a CR1 and I need to figure out the next steps and im overwhelmed. Sorry for the long text.

1. USA income taxes

So the current plan is to enter the US in the next 6 months to get the green card but come back and continue at my UK job for few months until ive sorted myself out.

Reading the IRS guide for aliens it looks clear that I would be a resident alien for tax purposes the moment i go through the POE. And any time before that I would be a NRA unless I chose to be treated as a RA.

Did I get this right?

So even if I worked for several months in the UK for a UK company, my income after POE would be taxable in the USA.

2. HMRC taxes

Right so for several months I would be living in the UK, making UK income and being a UK resident for all purposes while holding a green card.

So its fair to assume HMRC will tax that my income. Is there a treaty between the UK and US so I dont pay taxes twice on the same income and how do I even go about it?

3. Accounts

I own a EU bank account, UK bank accounts, a UK cash ISA and S&S ISA. None of them make any substancial income ( maybe a 100 per year). Can I keep them in the UK or what happens to them if I move to the US? I also have a pension but i guess that will have its own conditions.

4. NI

What happens with the NI that ive payed in the UK and europe? Is there a treaty with the US so that my years paying taxes are not lost?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if I am able to get a state ID with my CR1 visa while waiting for the green card to arrive? I looked on the DMV of what is acceptable documents to present and it lists permanent resident card or valid visa. I'm assuming I could present the CR1 visa in my passport to obtain the state ID if my permanent resident card hasnt arrived by then. But please correct me if i'm wrong and you've experienced otherwise. Any help on the topic would be very helpful!

I have been in the UK for the past month and half, trying to get an appointment with the London embassy to file for my son's CRBA. Despite checking everyday, I have failed to get an appointment with them.

I am a USC, naturalized, fulfilling the physical presence requirement. I am leaving for US in two days, and was wondering what documents I should leave here in the UK. So far:

CRBA application, proof of physical presence (all my university transcripts totaling over 8 years, employment verification letters), my naturalization certificate (original).

What I intend to send from the US: notarized DS3053.

My wife will be attending the appointment (once we get it), with the baby. Anything else that I'm missing? Do I also need to send my passport over once I'm back in the US? Do I have to get anything notarized here locally in the UK?
