Hi everyone! Following the engagement to my fiancee (a US Citizen) we plan to have a family wedding next year. However, with COVID uncertainties we figured that it might be beneficial to get legally married this year as it will help with buying a house, travel, work and just general stability and have the family celebration when family can travel. Does timing of the marriage matter for AOS? Our relationship is legit, we've been dating for over three years, living together for two (with joint lease), we have a history of travel together, seeing each other's families, etc. We don't have a shared bank account or loan together, but we are each other's beneficiary for life insurance and have joint home/car insurance. We have a bunch of pictures from trips together and could get affidavits of our relationship easily. We are not getting married specifically for a green card, but the timing of the legal marriage (rather than waiting until next year) would be to help us make a life together ASAP. I have no urgency for employment authorization, but who knows what will happen between now and next year? Is this OK? Could it cause us trouble? Also, classic question, but do we need to consult a lawyer for the application? I'm here on an H-1B, have been in the country as a student and working for almost ten years and am familiar with applying for EAD although I understand that the stakes are higher this time. I've never had any legal issues whatsoever. Having read through the documents required, it doesn't seem that difficult even though laborious.

Hi Everyone, So let's start with the fact that my petition was filed a month before I was turning 21. (almost 2 years ago) Throughout the whole process I was advised that my category was going to be IR-2 and it was. My petition was USCIS approved and then I got DQed in May 2020. I had my interview scheduled for October 2020 at the London Embassy, I have gone through the medical examination and vaccinations which have been paid for and then a day before my interview the US Embassy in London called me and advised me not to come to the interview because I was affected by the Trump proclamations. Recently I have logged into the NVC CEAC and realized that my Visa Category have changed from IR-2 to F11. I thought my age should freeze at the time of the application and I shouldn't age out. Obviously I am worried on how long this process is going to take as this isn't IR-2 but F11. I have already submitted the NVC Contact Form to advise that the category shouldn't been changed to F11. This whole process created so much stress and loss of money considering my police certificates have expired as well as the medical examination. Can you please help? Did you guys came across this? I appreciate any help, have a great day.

Quick question: Does the personal check have to be in the petitioners name?! My mom was going to write out the check for me since I don t have a check book but I don t know if this is allowed? I can not see anywhere that it is isn t but I was wondering is anyone had any issues with this? Does the I-129f application allow money orders in the amount of $535.00? I tried at my local supermarket but they only give money orders out up to $500. I went to uscis.gov and reviewed the instructions. It doesn't say a whole lot about how to fill out a money order. many thanks!!!!!

Is it too late to participate?

We filled out this form over the weekend as we believe we may qualify for DCF at the London embassy (Wife is a USC living in the UK with me, with a short notice job offer back in the US). https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/i130-exceptional-circumstances-request-form/ We tried phoning the embassy today to ask if the form had been received (as we didn't get a conformation email after submitting it) and to ask how long it might take to get a response but we were told this department doesn't accept phone calls and just to wait for an indefinite amount of time until they respond. They couldn't even tell us how they might respond (email, phone etc). My wife has a job offer starting in the US in just a couple of weeks but she is reluctant to leave the UK if we don't get approved for DCF as it will likely mean many months or even years apart if I have to remain in the UK whilst we wait out the normal route. Just wondering if anyone who has done this before could help us by letting us know how long the embassy took to respond to this form, and perhaps how they responded (email or phone)? Any help would be greatly appreciated, my wife's new employers are really keen for her to start and asking every day when she can book her flights to come and take the position (it's a great job too!). Thanks for any help!
