Traveling after DQ - need to update DS-260?

Hi all, hope this makes sense. I've been DQ'd and have an interview scheduled at the embassy in London for the end of March.

I've got a 10-day round trip booked to the US in February.

For my DS-260 I only needed to submit travel history to the USA. This will have changed by the time of my interview.

Do I have to update the travel history before the interview? And if so, how do I do that? Does anyone on here have any experience of doing so?

Looking online has been unfruitful so far - I've seen rumours that the CEAC "unlocks" days before your interview and you simply upload it then; I've seen other rumours that the DS-260 is timestamped so it doesn't matter if there any updates after. Neither seem right?

I reached out to Londoninfounit@state.gov which is the contact email on the embassy website, but I understand that they can be very slow or may not reply at all.

Travelling on ESTA between DQ and interview

Hi all, I've been looking for some reassurance going through this forum, but getting mixed messages. I'm the beneficiary of a CR1/IR1 application through consular processing. We're at the final stages... I'm documentarily qualified (DQ'd) and I've got my interview date at the London embassy on 31 March 2025.

However, back in December - thinking our I-130 would be taking a few more months, etc - I booked a 10-day short trip to the USA in February so I can celebrate my birthday with my husband. The trip would require me to enter the US on my ESTA.

I had entered the USA previously while the I-130 was pending in 2023, but didn't travel at all in 2024. Now I'm entering the US on a new passport (under my married name). I am terrified that CBP will refuse me entry, citing that I have intent to immigrate. But I truly don't!

I have a long history of entering and exiting the USA within a few weeks (on my old passport), I still have my job and my car and my dog in the UK. I am living with family so no outgoings there. But obviously I do have an immigrant visa interview to attend which I am sure will go smoothly!

Can anyone offer me any reassurance that this trip will go smoothly, or is it really a waste of a 12-hour flight and 11 days of annual leave? Anyone have any advice for what to say at the border? Thank you all kindly.

ACRO and no-live trace: Possession of a controlled substance

Hi all,

I (29M) am planning to move to America with my partner. I've been looking into this and I've realised today that the checks required to immigrate to the US are much more stringent than those undertaken in the UK when it comes to something like a caution.

When I was 19 (over 10 years ago now) I was arrested and caught with marijuana and was cautioned. I've registered for my ACRO but have not gotten it back yet. I fully expect it to show this offense as "no-live trace" on the ACRO.

I've been looking online and have been seeing a lot of contradictory information about this. As far as I can tell this offense does not constitute a crime of "moral turpitude" but does fall under a separate drug related offence protocol which could mean instant refusal. However I ve seen elsewhere people discuss an exemption for marijuana less than 30g for a reason this could be excused.

Does anyone have any experience in this or could offer advice? I plan on waiting for the ACRO to arrive before I contact a lawyer. Thanks.

I see that my Immigrant Visa has this annotation: Class B Req. Attn. of USPHS at POE. From what I can tell, this is due to a class B medical condition. On entry to the U.S., i'd be interested to learn of the experiences of those that may have this annotation and any follow up instructions/orders.

Thank you

Enumeration Beyond Entry (EBE) for K1?

Hi all,

I came across some info on the Enumeration Beyond Entry (EBE) process, which sounds like an SSN can be provided through USCIS and the AOS process, removing the requirement for a K1 to visit an SSA office pre or post marriage. Has anyone heard of this and knows if it is advisable? Info is:

You may not need to visit a Social Security office or Social Security Card center if you apply using the Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization), I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status), if you are approved for any of these applications through USCIS, and elected to apply for an SSN. USCIS will collect information on behalf of SSA to process the SSN card. [https://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm]

Under the Enumeration at Entry (EAE) program, any lawful permanent resident can apply for both an immigrant visa and a Social Security number (SSN) by filing an immigrant visa application (Form DS-230 or DS-260) at a Department of State (DoS) office in their home country. If the visa is granted, DoS transmits the identifying information from the person's visa application to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). [https://www.ssa.gov/faqs/en/questions/KA-10040.html#:~:text=Under the Enumeration at Entry, arrive in the United States.]

Thoughts would be appreciated! :D
