Hey forum, I'm just looking to vent a bit and maybe get some input from others who might have similar thoughts or concerns. We live in the US, me, wife and son (9 yrs) and we went to Europe (Sweden) for a vacation this Fall. Wife and son only spent 2 weeks here due to school and work, and I'm actually still in Sweden, traveling home in 2 weeks. We've been in the US for the last 5 years and have it good, good jobs and salaries, house cars/trucks etc. No complaints really except we have some family and friends here in Sweden that we do miss. We own a cabin in a small village where my dad grew up so it really feels like home for me and us. After being here, we're kind of contemplating moving back. But we do need to think about it a lot, things are not super easy here in Europe, low wages, high taxes, different political system, people's attitudes are different (I'm very libertarian and believe me, Swedes really are not ). And in the US, things can be sketchy politically, higher risk of gun violence (not that I'm too concerned, living in a small town) and the risk of getting very sick or fired is always anxious. Anyone else who have done the journey recently? Anyone thinking about it and having the same issues? We're all US citizens and it's only my wife who would need a VISA for Sweden, so we can easily move back but we have made this move several times in the last 7 years...

Hi everyone, I'll shoot straight. My wife lives with her parents and now I live with them too, my circumstances have changed drastically and I need to get documents to prove I won't be a public charge. Her parents don't work, my wife doesn't work due to health issues but pays rent and the only joint sponsor I have is her brother who will use his property as an asset for me on his Affidavit of Support. - Considering our household size, do her parents file an affidavit of support for me too? Are they even included when they ask about household? - What documents and forms would my brother in law need for this?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to offer an update on us and our experience. Today we had the I-485 interview. We brought every single piece of documentation we had plus a bunch of pictures and evidence of our relationship. The interview was very laid back and the officer mostly asked confirming questions about the facts we entered on the I-485. In all it took about 15 minutes and we only pulled out 1 document to speed things along (faster than the officer finding it in our file). She asked if we had anything she wanted to see where we presented the pictures and evidence. Half way through she said I already approved your application! We did not get a stamp in the passport. She said the green card should arrive in 1-2 weeks. What a relief!

Hi all, I'm in bit of a pickle. I (beneficiary) had my K-1 approved last year, entered the US in December, but due to a series of events, I ended up having to leave the country in January, before we could get married. From what I could find on the internet, I would have to apply for a new K-1. Fine, I thought. I've done it once, I can do it again. However. I'm now back in the US on an ESTA, preparing the paperwork for the new I-129F, when I come across the following A.I. summary on Brave search: Quote If a U.S. citizen has previously filed Form I-129F for the same beneficiary within the last two years, the new I-129F petition may not be approved unless the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) grants a discretionary waiver under INA 214(2)(B) and (C).23 If the U.S. citizen has filed two or more I-129F forms in the fianc (e) category at any time in the past or had a prior I-129F fianc (e) petition approved within the last two years, the new I-129F petition may also not be approved unless USCIS grants a discretionary waiver.23 To file a new I-129F petition for the same beneficiary, the U.S. citizen must provide detailed information about the previous petition, including the beneficiary's A-number, full name, date of filing, and the last action taken by USCIS.2 If the previous petition was denied, the U.S. citizen can include information explaining the reasons for the denial and any new evidence that supports the current petition.2 For more information, it is advisable to consult with an immigration attorney or refer to the official USCIS instructions for Form I-129F. What does this mean? What are my chances of being granted this waiver? We really can't afford an immigration attorney, so we have to try to solve this issue ourselves. I don't want to go too deeply into the reasons I left, since they are personal, and I have no paperwork to justify my decision anyway. Are my fianc and I better off marrying and applying for a CR-1, or even waiting two years to apply again? What date will they be counting from? When we sent in the previous I-129F, or from I was granted the K-1 visa? Or even from the expiry date on the visa? Grateful for any insights, E.
