Hey everyone,

We know our form was received November 27th and the credit card was charged February 21st and we've yet to receive a receipt notice, no e-mail or anything and it's been 4 months since it was received & 1 month since the payment went through. Is this what everyone else is experiencing or should we try to see if there's been an issue with our case? It's crazy since initially the receipt notice was max around 2 weeks after the packet was received and now it's 4 months, and actual visa processing time hasn't even started if we don't have a case number

Thanks everyone

Should we put US or foreign home address on US Federal Tax form 1040? (married filing jointly)

Hi all, for a USC and GC holder (currently with 2 year GC; waiting for 10 year) married filing jointly, should we put our US home address or foreign home address on our Federal Tax form 1040? We are abroad for most of the year (330+ days/year) on temporary contracts but come back to the US at least once a year and maintain our US address as we are trying to move back permanently soon.

We put our foreign home address on our 2019 form, but I was thinking that putting our US address would better demonstrate intent to return to the US / not to abandon the GC.... Any thoughts? Appreciate your input :)

Hey guys, I am looking for some guidance on our timeline here.

My fianc is currently on quarantine in Mexico after receiving his K1 visa in Madrid, Spain. We are part of the Milligan lawsuit.

I am now arranging his AOS paperwork and want to clarify the timeline given changes due to COVID and best options.

He will enter the US on March 26th and we will get married on April 3rd.

  1. Should we go apply for his Social security number before we get married on the 3rd? If not, when? I think I read somewhere we have to wait 2 weeks until he shows up in the system, is this true? My thought process is we are more likely to receive his SS card sooner if we apply for it separately from the I-765?
  2. If we have to wait 2 weeks can we still apply for is separately even after we are married? With hopes we get it sooner than with -I-765.
  3. Should we file the I-765 for his EAD and add on getting a social security number? I haven't seen where to do this on the I-765 form but I have also read about it. If true, where

I am hoping to send of everything immediately after the wedding, he is a teacher and our hopes are his EAD will come before this fall.

Thanks for your help!

Guys,

When me and my wife married, her last name was recorded as her maiden name. That is the way it shows on the marriage certificate. One the form for her last name, since she wishes to use mine, can we my last name as her last name now? I'm a little confused about this. Or, do I need to get something done with the marriage certificate?

Rescheduling I-751 interview? Stuck overseas :(

Hi all, May 2019 I-751 filer here and just received an NOA with an interview request for April 16, 2021 in the Portland field office.

My question: do they allow long-term rescheduling, such as for July? What would be a valid reason for this? We are stuck overseas can probably only come back in July.

As a long shot, can we do this in a consulate overseas? Most likely not but just putting that out there ;). Thanks in advance.

Key text in the NOA: "You are hereby notified to appear for the interview appointment, as scheduled below, for the completion of your Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (Form I-751).... call the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 as soon as possible to reschedule your interview. There is no penalty for requesting that your appointment be rescheduled."
