My stepson is 18 years old and is currently in University abroad and just received his IR-2 visa. He will have to enter the US within 6 months but he wishes to continue his studies abroad. What does he need to do to keep his permanent resident status active while continuing his education abroad? His school schedule means that he will be out of the US for more than 6 months at a time. He has not arrived in the US yet but is thinking about coming during his winter vacations.

My stepson, 15 years old, immigrated to the US this year and holds an IR-2 visa currently in the form of a passport stamp with a temporary I-551 for 1 year. My wife is the biological mother and is a permanent resident and I am a US citizen, born in the US and the petitioner for both of their cases. We just received an ASC Appointment Notice to do his biometrics for his permanent resident card, however, we were under the impression that since he arrived to the US before turning 18, he would be eligible for citizenship. Our questions are as follows: - Is my stepson eligible for citizenship? - If no, do I need to officially adopt him? - What are the steps to getting him citizenship?

My wife had her Visa interview back in July and entered the US on a CR1 Visa in August. Last week, she received an I-797c notifying her that she has a Biometric Submission here in Texas. I've searched here and see some messages that say Biometrics are required prior to some visa interviews. Should we be alarmed that it is happening now or is this normal?

Hello, I am an American citizen and my wife is from Russia. She was able to get to the US on a K1 visa. Things have gone well so far. Her 90 days is up in less than a week, and we got married yesterday. We had to hold off on getting married for a few weeks because I lost my job and we had to move. Thankfully, I got a job last week so we are able to fill out the I-485 and I-864. I plan on submitting that before her 90 days runs out. My question is: How is she able to travel by plane in the next few days/months while waiting to hear back about the I-485? All airports check IDs and she doesn't have a SSN yet or any other form of ID except for a passport which will show soon that she has been in the US longer than 90 days, thus potentially creating trouble if there are any TSA agents who look closely. I've been reading about advanced parole but that seems to only apply to people looking to travel outside of the country which is not what we need.
